Recommend a Great Folding Knife

Recommended Posts

Spyderco Native III (or whatever the current revision is), especially if you want a very capable knife that isn't giant. Good steel, nice design, very useful.

Personally, I'm not doing liner locks anymore. I have a ton, and some of the older ones with lots of use are losing tension on the liner and becoming dangerous. These days I'm liking the mid back spine lock, or the thousand minor variations in the style of the axis lock.

check out lone wolf knife company. If you dont mind paying a bit for a quality knife that is made in the USA. I cant say enough about them i have carried one of 2 every day for the past 5 years thay are used and abused everyday as a work knife and have a lifetime replacement policy if anything breaks its replaced no questions asked. I broke the tip of the blade using it as a prybar and emailed them to buy a replacement and even admitted that i used it as a prybar. they told me to send it back and they would replace the blade all i had to pay for was shipping to oregon like 6 bucks or so.

Just bought a kershaw od1. What a nice pocket folder. It is lever opening, straight blade made of 14XXX stainless steel. Nice Sandvik blade. Not the best for heavy duty cutting, but it seems like it will be a great EDC for med and light duty.

I purchased a Cold Steel Hatamoto, fantastic knife. The blade uses san mai steel which is layer of high and low carbon steel causing the edge to last, I have had it for over a year and a half and have not had to sharpen it once. I purchased it a while ago from Budk's website for a little under $200. Also the blade is thick and had a pointed tanto tip.

My EDC knife for the past few years has been a Benchmade Mini Griptilian 555HG. I purchased many knives (most costing 2-4x more) looking for a replacement or something better and just keep going back to the Griptilian. For me, it is the perfect EDC knife. Benchmade customer service is also top notch in case you ever need anything.

I either carry the Leek

http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-1660-Leek/dp/B001D4RMI0/ref=sr_1_7?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1318464203&sr=1-7

or the Eskabar (fits in the pocket just like a folder)

I'm really liking the Eskabar in the factory sheath in my pocket, just like a pocket holster or a folder. The Leek is a good slicer because it's so thin, but I wouldn't use it for heavy work. These are both reasonably priced.

BBK, let me know your thoughts on the Native. I picked up mine a few weeks ago and love it. Super lightweight and fits the hand really well.

Just came in, and I haven't had the chance to walk around with it yet over an extended amount of the time, but from what I can tell it won't be bothersome in any way. Has a good balance, and the ergonomics seem pretty darn solid. The weak point seems like it'll be the clip, but I'll have to find out. What I really dig though is that it's made out in Golden, CO, which is a great town, and I'm always glad to support the cause that Spyderco has promised (in giving back a percentage of their profit from the Native to the Native American tribes in the area).

My everyday baby http://www.knifecenter.com/item/EMCQC10BT/emerson-cqc10-w-wave-3-6-inch

And Ernie Emerson is a great guy and a real supported of 2A and Knife rights.

+1 on the CQC-10.... I had a custom CQC10 and it was a FANTASTIC all around blade design for cutting fruit...boxes lunch what have you....

Your blade design will be dictated buy what you want to use it for...general utility....food...defense etc..

I have found that along with the 10, the -8 has served me quite well....the blade shape is perfect for everything I have ever needed it for...

I alternate EDC's...I can recommend from a production standpoint MOST ANY of the Emerson blades..although the Tanto style is hard for general utility... I

normally carry a production mini Ruuku....

Customs...well that is a WHOLE other story! Most folks DO NOT like him...but Farid make some fantastic blades...

Look into the T1000....I had him make me one with a tanto and bowie style blade...

THIS RIGHT HERE IS A FANTASTIC ALL AROUND KNIFE:

I carry a sog flash 2. But in my opinion the best knife for the money is a buck. They work, they last and if they don't buck stands behind em 100%

That's the model I carry. Aluminum handle with black blade
