That frame safety looks near impossible to hit in the heat of the moment unlike the 1911. I'm locked out of S&W's website here at work - can anyone see whether it's Safe Action or other?

 

Its probably the same action as the regular M&P on a narrower chassis. The safety is there because someone was going to ask for it and the normal M&P one would have not worked. Guessing you can ignore it, like you can ignore it on a normal M&P, but who knows.

Because it might be activated when you thought it was deactivated at the wrong time.

would like to see this side by side to the kahr pm9, I think it's slightly bigger. I noticed also the beretta nano is also a little bigger than the pm9, shouldn't these be getting smaller not bigger?

Me too. I've got next Wednesday off, guess I'm going to the pd to put in for more permits. I have one left but, that's going to a full size M&P 45.

I think s&w's strategy with this is, according to what I've seen and read, to have a big nationwide release more in line with say how a video game or a movie is released.

When it becomes available it will be available in numbers.

That's why there was no shot show preview(I think)

They wanted to reveal it shortly before it would be widely available.

Unlike the rest of the industry(cough*keltec*cough)

Well I'm sure that problem can be solved with a couple of spare minutes, some punches, and some ingenuity. I'm not particularly pleased that they chose to put a safety on it either, but I'm sure it is a solvable problem.
