woodentoe 14 Posted July 7, 2012 Weeknight ammo purchase brought me to dicks in Woodbridge. Ammo put in an alarm box to the register. Sales guy and I were chatting about online ammo deals and tells me that Nj law says you can't own more thN 500 rounds of any caliber. That's a first. Duppie 73 Posted July 7, 2012 He had better be talking out of his a** or we're all in violation.....
ALAN553 27 Posted July 7, 2012 Hey Dick....show me the statute! I am sure there are many here that purchase ammo online at 1000 rounds per order, especially when there is a good deal to be had.
Kaiser7 33 Posted July 7, 2012 Where is this law in NJ? I wouldn't doubt it, honestly, but I think that's bs, I'm CERTAIN if something like that were proposed, the NRA would be all over it, just kidding. NJ2AS, in all honesty, probably would have caught wind though.
jrfly3006 42 Posted July 7, 2012 Complete and utter BS...no such law

rightisright 3 Posted July 7, 2012 Complete and utter lie.
woodentoe 14 Posted July 7, 2012 I said no. He assured me. I shrugged. Then he was telling me that he used to get 1k of .223 for xx amount. He felt funny buying so much ammo but the deal was too good...blahblahblah Then I had to bring my cased ammo to the cashier, give my NJFID again and affirm that I'm a us citizen, give my DOB to her. I only argue last minute realized that I mistakenly gave her my gun club ID card instead of my NJFID. I apologized and she said oh no problem. I was wondering why the numbers were shorter. WTF? Lol
Daedalus 19 Posted July 7, 2012 It was Dick's. What can you expect? Most employees are experts at everything and were under-qualified to be WalMart greeters.
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted July 7, 2012 I bet about 80% or more of the forum members would be violating that BOGUS law of 500 right now. I know I would be one of those breaking the so called law, stupid DICK or more like misinformed DICK.
Arbelest 29 Posted July 7, 2012 Sooo I shouldn't have 3,000 rounds of 22lr in my closet??
Melgamatic 66 Posted July 7, 2012 Sales guy and I were chatting about online ammo deals and tells me that Nj law says you can't own more thN 500 rounds of any caliber. Well, at least 3 times I've bought 6 cases of 12ga shotgun shells. That's 6 x 10 X 25 = 1500 12ga shells each time, so at least they didn't worry about that. I'm almost out of shells, too.... Melgamatic 66 Posted July 7, 2012 Sooo I shouldn't have 3,000 rounds of 22lr in my closet?? Respectfully, at 3000 rounds you're seriously understocked (but that's an old joke on these forums).
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted July 7, 2012 May as well lock me up forever and throw away the key is there's a 500 round limit!
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted July 7, 2012 I even have 500 plus rounds of .223 and 5.56 for an AR which is only a complete lower right now and NO mags for it. I just can't believe how these DICKS come up with such BS...
A-Tech 8 Posted July 7, 2012 You mean I'm not supposed to keep all this ammo hidden throughout my house...like in the walls and under the mattress? I shoot 500rds in minutes on some days.
NickC 23 Posted July 7, 2012 Soooo those 525 round boxes of federal bulk pack 22lr that Dicks sells are illegal? Hmm good to know.

Smokin .50 1,907 Posted July 7, 2012 I'm still exhausted from the last thread I got passionate about. Dick's got a visit from the NJSP and possibly the BATFE. Maybe the paperwork didn't add-up and now there coming-out with their own CYA rules? Dave
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted July 7, 2012 Soooo those 525 round boxes of federal bulk pack 22lr that Dicks sells are illegal? Hmm good to know. Very true Sir, since I bought 2 boxes of .22 cci blazers bulk 525 rds each from them about a month ago @ dicks in Union.
mcbethr 42 Posted July 7, 2012 Oh dear. I had no idea. I better go shooting tomorrow just to get my round count within the law... "Sorry I can't go your your mother's house tomorrow, honey. I really have to go to the range, trust me. It's very important."
M4BGRINGO 139 Posted July 7, 2012 Not all of their employees are that clueless, right Henry? I love it when Henry pushed the cart for me with 10 cases of shotgun ammo in it. I know it far outweighs him! So, that would be 2500 rounds of 12g shells, guess we were over the limit............
PeteF 1,044 Posted July 7, 2012 I think maybe I'll enjoy some mall air conditioning and screw with the ammo guys at Dicks tomorrow.

woodentoe 14 Posted July 7, 2012 I rounded down. His point was you can't own more than one 52t5 box of 22. This came up when we were talking and I mentioned the dunns deal for 5250 rounds free shipping. He decided then to school me. Facepalm.
A-Tech 8 Posted July 7, 2012 It's a good thing he was working that day! Think of what you could have possibly missed out on. Nothing like gaining knowledge from Dick's employees.
