Several Dead, Including Gunman, in NJ Supermarket Shootout

Recommended Posts

I have worked w young Marines from Afghanistan and Iraq. Some w PTSD and or other issues. They happen to love working with me when no one else wanted to work with them, or vice versa.

It is hard to describe what I've seen and heard.

I guess they look up to me as per my resume. But, sadly, sometimes I'm not surprised, sometime I am, just hard to put it into words.

My sincerest condolences to the innocent families involved.

Glad to see that there is help for those who need it. This guy did not have PTSD, he never left California. Also, he served less than two years, is that possible with other than a medical or dishonorable discharge?

There are also "general" and "uncharacterized." However those are both considered "less than honorable."

Additionally, you don't only get PTSD from going overseas. It is from traumatic shock. Thismay not apply in this case but it is true nonetheless.

Certain types of separation automatically deem you a Prohibited Person as far as firearms in NJ goes. The plot thickens?

I really feel for the families of the victims. This whole business is a damn shame!

Yup. I got my PTSD from screwing fat chicks in Jersey over a number of years. And paying my way through college with money I earned every week. I also acquired some "shell shock" when my grandfather died and the cops told me to pour out my beer.

But it is still too early to know for sure if he was a Tea Party activist. And I'm certainly not going to accuse him of a life of screwing fat chicks just yet, there is nothing to suggest that. Need more information.

If this story does bring to light the need for better mental health services for veterans, that would be a positive thing to come from this tragedy.

I've seen guys go nutz in basic training because they couldn't roll their underware right..There's also a certain NJ politician that will TRY to take away your rights if you seek mental health help even for a 201..and he finds out..

Well, according to NJ.com from people he was supposed to have lived with, he was on Prozac & allegedly had depression. Also moved from bklyn to OB only in June. Uncle & sister lived there, Unc worked at same store. Since the guns were likely illegal for anyone to possess in NYC, where'd he get them? Bring back from CA? Unc's guns? Did he apply for & get an FPID & P2P? Or simply buy them illegally? Suppose it will come out eventually, sad case for all involved directly--

We all know how often " AK47 " gets thrown around for every crime involving a gun. Was this an actual illegal AK47, or was it one of it's semi-auto variants like a Saiga and the like? For all we know it could of been a bolt action .22. If he has only lived in NJ since June, I doubt he had enough time to apply and recive his FID in NJ to legally purchase anything here.

From NJ.com:

Dressed in desert camouflage clothing and carrying two weapons, including one similar to an AK-47 assault rifle, Tyler returned from his break at the Old Bridge Pathmark on Route 9, walked in and started firing at fellow employees working the graveyard shift, prosecutors said.

Not an actual AK47. Not likely that he got all his papers in order and applied for and receiced his FID from OB.

Edit: opps, was it a rifle then?

WTF, just heard the revamp of the story this morning. Shaking my head to get my marbles lined up. I believe I just heard them say on ABC news that he had an assault weapon. Now wtf? I thought he had a 45? Is the media so hell bent on creating false issues and now any shooting is tied to an assault weapon? Is this true? Didn't he have just a 45?

"Similar to an ak47"..... Jesus, why not just call it like it is? What ISNT similar to an ak47 to the media?

If he purchased and owned it legally in our neighboring Socialistic Commonwealth of NannYschovenia, it could could not be an AK and could not have had more than 10-round mags. Safe bet that it was a variant (like a Saiga). Also, 16 rounds fired from two mags (what they call "clips") sort of lends evidence to them being 10-rounders.
