mipafox 438 Posted January 17, 2013 There is no need to apologize. We are all aggravated and ready to fight this. I don't think I can explain the same points again in a different way to clarify. Maybe you don't agree or maybe I don't communicate well. Either way, we all know we need to fight.

Call them now and run out their voice mail. No better time than the present. Then call them in the AM and ask some hard questions. They won't have answers, they just answer the phones and keep score. Cemeterys Gun Blob 165 Posted January 17, 2013 Ok.....I am NOT a rocket scientist..... what is going on....? is the illuminati looking to setup shop in NJ... Bayonne right..? It's gotta be bayonne... it's called massive coordination behind the scenes of the anti gun efforts......and it ain't tinfoil time, all these bills being introduced in various states are carbon copies of each other. And remember, Obama was on the board of the Joyce Foundation, who funds all these anti gun groups, and everything he is talking about, was what the Joyce Foundation was talking about in the 90s...... Markymark 0 Posted January 17, 2013 Remember guys, Christie is still a politician...all he cares about in the end is getting re-elected. Write EVERYONE and put up as big of a stink as possible and LET IT BE KNOWN, that if they approve any regulations they lose your vote...PERIOD. If your going to lose your rights, they are going to lose their job!
PDM 91 Posted January 17, 2013 We can't lose sight of the fact that for the first time, anywhere, there was at least the beginnings of an intelligent discussion along the lines of "you want to restrict X ... show me why." Not other politician, anywhere has come out with this approach. The idiots on the left just assume that less magazine capacity is better and call you murderous lunatic or worse if you question their wisdom. The NRA and people on our side don't even get into that discussion because they oppose any limits whatsoever. Christie is at least taking an intelligent approach and believe me his unwillingness to swallow a 10 or 5 round mag limitation hook, line and sinker is really going to piss off a lot of people. He actually said that police officials he spoke with oppose such a move!

Not other politician, anywhere has come out with this approach. If my politician, anywhere, started the beginnings of that discussion I'd be there tomorrow with a torch and a pitchfork. And an AR and a sidearm. He didn't start a winning discussion. He started a discussion of how much, if any, we lose. There has never been a first time, anywhere, that there was the least bit of good to come out of a discussion announcing a new evaluation of possibilities for future gun control. And as someone else noted, the 2A rally on 2/8 is now more important than ever. We need to show up in huge numbers to let our representatives know that we're a force with which to be reckoned. pbkid6974 1 Posted January 18, 2013 My understanding is this: He has said in the past that he would talk about the issue. This is him talking about the issue. He feels NJ laws are strong enough, but to make the antis feel good, he is letting them try to present their "facts". We all know that all of their "facts" are, like that scene in My Cousin Vinny, paper thin. Christie seems like a logical man so logical points will likely win with him. We have logic on our side. I don't think he will move on any new laws because he does not want to commit political suicide on the national level. But, this way of handling the situation will make national headlines as no one else is doing it. Say what you want about the man, he is a brilliant politician. Everyone else is completely one way or the other depending on demographics. Christie wants to create the illusion of doing something when in reality he is actually doing nothing. Which, I think, is in our best interest. We want things to get better, but if they stay the same then so be it. I'll take that draw over losing. We still need to fight. You don't get a draw in boxing by standing there and getting hit. You get the draw by going punch for punch. If we fight this to a draw, it will open us up for the eventual re-match. At that point we will have the upper hand. The momentum will be in our favor. That's my buck-o-five. Cuz if we don't all throw in our buck-o-five, who will? If he truly wants to run for president in 2016 then he will veto it. If the legislature truly want the law passed they will override his veto. That puts him in a perfect position to say "I was against silly feel good knee-jerk reactions and supported the Second Amendment". Win-win for him. Rifleman1 32 Posted January 18, 2013 I disagree, I think Christie did a great job. I wouldn't expect any firearm restrictions coming... I'm not sure if you were watching the same thing I was though. I agree! Gents, Read between the lines...the days of NJ 15 rounds are GONE............. They will NOT keep them....no way no how....... You will see NJ at 10 rounds starting in T+60 days....... I do also think you will see it diminished to ONE evil feature......and that all existing compliant firearms be grandfathered but, future will need to comply with one feature. Just my.02... I said it.....the FEDS will let the states do the dirty work.... So then I'll need 15 mags of 10 rounds rather than 10 mags of 15 rounds.
Texas Shooter 35 Posted January 18, 2013 Look, this is something that we can work with. My viewpoint on this? Governor Christie is being very astute with his political capital. He KNOWS that by and large, the NY AWB2.0 is HUGELY unpopular with many people. Cuomo REALLLY REALLY hurt his political chances badly with his rushed AWB2.0. As a matter of fact, he rushed it through so fast, the mag ban doesn't have a provision exempting police officers. That means when the law goes into effect in March cops in all of NY State will not be able to carry full cap mags. That's how dumb Cuomo is. Do we know this for a fact? Unpopular with some, yes, but not the majority of the population, no? I'm just curious if the backlash in NY is really this strong. Strong enough to reverse it? 9X19 125 Posted January 18, 2013 I don't know it may actually help him to defeat Hillary for the Democratic nomination in 2016. Really depends on how the states sort this mess out. Nobody can seriously thinks that Biden would get the nod.... Could be a good thing to have Cuomo running against Christie. And giving how screwed up things in this country will be by then, we may not have to worry about seeing a Dem in the White House for awhile.
quikz 34 Posted January 18, 2013 Am NOT tolerating any 'numbers game' regarding mags. Thanks prolly to NJ cops, NJ kept it at 15 or less since MOST of our modern semi autos that are comfy to carry is 10-15 rd range. I do not see cops or near retirement cops or retired cops having to put up w that BS numbers game. As very young adult, I shot in NJ w 30 rd mags in my Ruger 10/22. They snapped together to make 60 rounds. Shot in Medford at a public and police range along w cops sometimes. Believe it or not, I think it's actually safer to have all your ammo inside 1 or 2 magazines, instead of a bunch of 10 round magazines or one 10 round magazine that you have to unload and reload and shoot constantly, rounds strewn all over and all. Im speaking from experience inside NJ. I think the jury is out on this...as far as where this Gov will stand. Why cant we BE like, at least resemble, the Rest of the Country? And Cuomo is a National AHOLE and a disgrace to the US Constitution, his state and himself.

Bob2222 317 Posted January 18, 2013 There's a backlash in NY?? Seriously?? http://www.reuters.c...E90G1DA20130117 Y'all come to Texas, state official tells New York gun owners By Jim Forsyth SAN ANTONIO | Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:31pm EST SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has a message for New York gun owners: Come to Texas, and bring your guns with you. "Texas is better than New York, and New York just gave us another excuse to say that," Abbott, a Republican, said on Thursday, after ads extolling Texas appeared on several media websites. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, signed sweeping gun-control legislation earlier this week expanding the state's ban on assault weapons and putting limits on ammunition capacity in the wake of last month's school shootings in Connecticut. Abbott, a possible candidate for governor of Texas in next year's election, used campaign money to buy ads on websites of news organizations in New York City and Albany. One ad says in classic Western script: "WANTED: Law abiding New York gun owners seeking lower taxes and greater opportunities." New York is hopeless. I think it will need to completely collapse first, the "free stuff" voters will all need to flee -- then something might be built on the rubble. New Jersey is getting there, too. I had high hopes after Christie was elected. Until this past November...
bravozulu14 0 Posted January 18, 2013 President could use kids but the NRA can't point it out? This +1000 The Prez paraded children up on the podium while he signed "executive actions" purely a emotion grabbing ploy. Not to mention, if he thinks the focus of the ad was about the prez' kids, he's missing the point. The point was that ALL our kids are important enough to have protection, the prez's included. SW9racer 262 Posted January 18, 2013 No politicians are on our side. Their only goal is to get re-elected. They only answer to the polls. All these long winded letters and arguments do nothing. You only need to send one sentence "if you vote for any more restrictions, I will never vote for you". Only if their polls, of people who actually vote, show this will something happen. 222 3 Posted January 18, 2013 Poll numbers are already starting drop for support of gun control. The December numbers were basically, "Do you hate guns?" The January numbers are more, "Do you think these proposals will make you safer?" By-and-large, Americans aren't stupid; they recognize recycled failed ideas when they see them. http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/16/politics/obama-gun-violence-provisions/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 Cuomo may have passed some legislation and screwed over NYState, but even if he survives the upstate NY'ers backlash, he's not looking good for Prez. A liberal democrat from NorthEast, and pile anti-2A on top of that? It'll be like Bloomberg running for Prez. The only way a Northeast politician looks good nationally is if they have conservative creds, like a Romney or Christie, and even then they have bend over backwards to convince rest of the country they aren't a closet liberal. Gun control may be hot, but it not salient in long run. Unlike gun owners, 2A is very salient. Worse thing we can do is shoot ourselves in the foot. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/01/16/cnntime-poll-slight-dip-in-support-for-gun-control-measures-in-last-month/
