He said it was just released but I doubt 3-where Camden residents with really good points about the decay of the city, not anti gun Just a heads up get there early
MarkWVU02 47 Posted February 6, 2013 I've seen the John Hopkins article you referred to. I didn't read it real carefully but I saw some obvious bias in it. If I can find the link I'll post it here for you.

Black Ops 1 Posted February 6, 2013 Here's info on the Monmouth public hearing on 2/6: Dear Mr. D, Thank you for your recent email regarding gun rights. I understand your concerns. A comprehensive look is needed at our society to see why such tragic incidents like the Newtown shooting occur. That includes a look at mental health and violent video games and movies. I agree we can also improve the quality of background checks. Governor Christie just announced the creation of the NJ SAFE Task Force. The panel is made up of a cross section of the community, including James Romer from Monmouth Medical Center. He has 30 years experience in the mental health field. The Task Force will hold a public hearing in Monmouth County on February 6, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. Perhaps you would like to attend if your schedule permits. The Task Force has 60 days to report back to the Governor and I anxiously await its findings. Once again, thank you for reaching out to me with your concerns. Very Truly Yours, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande 11th Legislative District

onedown5up 0 Posted February 6, 2013 Just a thought at the next two meeting , might be wise to bring some un bias reading material for the panel maybe high light that Boomberg more then likely paid to have the report read the way he wanted it too. oh by the way the panel will accept writen view If you dont want too speak
SgtToadette 59 Posted February 6, 2013 I was literally sitting next to the guy with the anti-gun book. It was pushed largely by Mayor Bloomberg as made apparent by the cover. Overall the meeting went pretty damn well. Some people were off topic and talked too long about issues not relating to the task force, but again, it went well. NJCK 5 Posted February 6, 2013 Folks, also go over in the NJ Gun Laws forum where I started the original topic for the Camden SAFE meeting - I've provided more info from my attendance.

mattio41 0 Posted February 6, 2013 Just came home from the Brookdale meeting. overall, probably 75-2 pro 2nd amendment versus anti. and I cant even say one of those was anti. We had a speaker from one million moms, but a passionate plea from a reverend of the Asbury park area begging for help with the violence on his streets. I was really proud of what I heard today. PeteF 1,044 Posted February 6, 2013 here's the link... http://www.jhsph.edu...102512_CGPR.pdf Pretty funny source considering over 195,000 people die in hospitals from medical errors a year.
NJCK 5 Posted February 6, 2013 We had a speaker from one million moms, WAIT, please know this woman is from "ONE MILLION MOMS FOR GUN CONTROL." She turns up AT EVERY SINGLE turn to oppose guns. She was at Trenton beating her drum for testimony. She IS NOT part of the much, much larger One Million Moms!!!! She is a grass roots startup RIGHT AFTER Sandy Hook. This new group is lucky if there are 100 moms signed up!!! IF she shows up at the remaining meeting, or any additional they add, and does not fully identify her organization, someone consider doing it for her! No need for the Committee to think she is speaking for the huge number under the REAL One Million Moms!
Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted February 6, 2013 I was really proud of what I heard today. I was too, right up until the time when the lady from One Million Moms was heckled. The one person who had an opposite view was shouted down. I don't see how that behavior helps our cause.

No need for the Committee to think she is speaking for the huge number under the REAL One Million Moms! I was at Brookdale today. She is a brunette in her 40's. My guess is Jersey italian (the hair and clothes). Thankfully her speech went like this "The NRA puts guns on our streets. Stand up to the NRA. No guns in schools". Long on rhetoric. Short on much else. She was really the only truly anti-gun speech I heard today. One was weird, about killing someone in self defense affecting what you come back as in the next life. And then a Reverend from Asbury who just desperately wants guns out of his neighborhood. I got there at 3:30 and the place was packed. I signed up to speak (bald guy in the Mets shirt on the left speaking line) but by the time it was my turn, 90% of the points my prepared speech had been rehashed by several different speakers. I made a few points and simply handed the panel my prepared speech. I will say that I think the speeches with the most impact were the ones from regular folks who talked about the impact NJ rules has on their lives and how the proposed new laws would negatively impact them. There were a few pragmatic proposals from speakers. Then there were a few speakers who railed against the system and pretended like they were teaching Constitutional law to students. That was red meat for the crowd, but (IMO) didn't help the panel much. I do feel bad for the Asbury Park Reverend who spoke about burying children who have been shot. I don't think you will ever convince him that having a gun can be a good thing if it is in the right hands. Like most urban dwellers, he only gets to see the negatives. NJCK 5 Posted February 7, 2013 I just googled this and all the results are for the large organization, not some small grass routes deal. The is the REAL One Million Moms and take note right on the front webpage... http://onemillionmoms.com/ Clearing Up Any Confusion There has been some confusion recently in the media and on the Internet concerning One Million Moms, a conservative, Christian group affiliated with American Family Association since 2001. We, One Million Moms, are not affiliated with the group One Million Moms for Gun Control. This is a completely different organization that was newly formed on December 14, 2012. Hopefully this information will clear up any confusion that has been caused since these are two separate entities, and we would never want you misled This is the One Million Moms for Gun Control: http://onemillionmom...guncontrol.org/ VERY different. At best, a Facebook contingency.
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 7, 2013 Was good to see at least 10 NJGF members. I had a speech prepared for about 3 to 4 mins, but was shocked they only gave people 2 mins, and would on average cut them off after a minute thirty. Now while I do value and feel for the Reverend from Asbury Park, I somehow doubt that the gangs there are walking around with fully automatic AK's and grenades. Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted February 7, 2013 WAIT, please know this woman is from "ONE MILLION MOMS FOR GUN CONTROL." Got it. What you meant to say was that this woman is NOT from One Million Moms for Gun Control. The site you linked is for a group out of Tupolo, Ms, and so my curiosity is really getting peaked. I checked the link you provided and notice that they are taking credit for events going back to 2010. Whatever or whereever she is from, we don't want to piss her off, and all heckling her does in inflame the situation and likely strengthen her resolve. I was vasilating on whether or not to approacher her to appologize for the groups behavior, and then when I saw her ask a trooper to walk her to her car because she was afraid I knew something needed to be done. It's pure female hysterics, but good Lord, we don't want that directed at us.
Vlad G 345 Posted February 7, 2013 The news 12 segment actually has the minister come a cross as fairly pro gun. Apparently the anti gun lady asked for an escort to her car. The report was fairly good actually.
Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted February 7, 2013 Not apparently Vlad...I saw her ask the Trooper, and he deferred her to a Tinton Falls officer, who escorted her, right after I appologized to her. Did that make the news...the part about her asking for an escort? I haven't seen the report. Is it online?

Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted February 7, 2013 It made the news... "Throughout the two-hour hearing, only a few expressed anti-gun opinions. A representative of One Million Moms Against Gun Control made a comment against allowing school personnel to carry guns in school but was heckled by the pro-gun crowd, which prompted an admonishment from the task force's co-chairman, Peter G. Verniero. She left the meeting, accompanied by police escort." http://redbank.patch.com/articles/public-speaks-out-about-gun-rights-mental-health-issues-at-forum-in-brookdale
