Anthony Cumia of Opie and Anthony apparently got fired yesterday by SiriusXM http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/04/showbiz/celebrity-news-gossip/anthony-fired-tweets-opie-and-anthony/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

 

From the reports I've seen he was taking pictures in Times Square and a woman got pissed that she was in one of the photos and proceeded to assault him. Afterward he went on Twitter and posted a few tweets that commented on the race of the assailant. SiriusXM of course then had to do the PC thing and can him.

 

I'll have to really think about whether I bother renewing my subscription when the time comes.

That sucks. I originally got xm radio for O&A. Then stuck when they became Siriusxm.

 

With services like Pandora I don't need Siriusxm anymore.

Yup, same here.  The only reason I have XM is for O&A.

 

This stinks, but they both said they figured it was a matter of when not if something like this would happen.

You guys might want to check out Jason Ellis on Faction 41 he is on at 3pm weekdays and reruns are played frequently. I was never a fan of O&A but I have been a stern fan since I was 19 and he is the reason I got Sirius but in recent years I think the stern show has started its decline but I listen to Jason ellis almost every day and he is the reason I keep my subscription.

If O&A are gone the only thing left on SiriusXM that I really like is the hockey channel

I haven't listened to O&A since the WoW Wednesdays the last show I remember was when they sent the bus full of strippers to the mayor's office lol. I have a subscription but mostly listen to octane, the George Carlin channel, and hockey.

Had my 14 year old nephew in the truck recently he said "you gotta hear this station!" I had no idea there was a porn channel! People actually listen to that while driving?

No O&A...Stern doesn't work a whole week and takes like 20 weeks of vacation...

 

I basically pay my fee for Liquid Metal and football. Not sure its worth it any more. Any talented personalities pretty much have podcasts any more.

I haven't listened to O&A in forever my plan won't allow me their channel. I mainly listen to pussified Howard and the Dead channel. I wish my radio got the Floyd channel too.

I lived in the NYC market when O&A were kicked off the air for some stunt - I think somebody had sex in a catholic church for a contest.

 

I then lived in the Philly marked when O&A got kicked off the air there for some infraction - I don't remember what it was.

I don't think they were ever in philly themselves. 94.1 used to syndicate their XM show for a while.

I'm a big Opie and Anthony fan. This seriously blows. The other shows on xm suck comparatively speaking. Howard sucks now. Ellis blows.

Not that i am a fan but this is a blessing in disguise. They can shift to a podcast and then nobody can fire them anymore and they can say what they want.

They should be able to say what they want now. It's subscription based and if people have any issue with what was being broadcasted they can choose a package without that channel.

Anthony has a full news studio in his basement that he uses for his "Live From the Compound" shows so I imagine he will be doing that very soon. I'm just waiting to see what the others do. Will the whole show end or will they go on without him, at least until their contract is up in October.

I suspect it will be "Grimm in the morning" until Op and Jim's contract expires.  The shows just aren't as good without Anthony and Op goes on about Hockey, sunsets, allergies and doesn't do good interviews.  If you listen to their great interviews, Op often is silent for the entire thing.
