Speed camera ticket from MD - can it affect a NJ registration?

Recommended Posts

Delaware River Toll Bridge Commission has begun photographing all vehicles passing through toll plazas.  Hear all toll roads in NJ will soon follow. Big Brother is watching.  How they are going to process all that data who knows.

Aren't they doing that anyway, in re: EasyPass?

9 month update - I haven't received anything mailed in months.  Applied for, was approved for and closed on a mortgage/home purchase.  Credit score was still over 800 last time the lender shared it with me.

So far MD has been all bark and zero bite.

Hopefully, the property is *away* from the PRNJ!  :D

I don't know if facial disguises would matter, as the usually go after the registered owner, first, right? Is is not up to them to prove the weren't the driver?

possibly, though it should be up to the courts/pd/prosecutor to prove just who was driving. that said.....high power ir led's. constantly on. should screw with the digigal camera. don't think there's a law against those....just physically obscuring the plates.

My wife and I were nailed by one of those Maryland cameras for speeding in a school zone on Dec 26 (No kids were in school). She's a lawyer in the city and said the way the camera tickets are written (maybe civil vs criminal) makes fighting it pointless unless you make your way down.

that was i think one of the arguments against nj's redlight cameras. they weren't there to enhance anyones safety...they were just there for revenue generation. the fines were set at the point they were to make it not worth ones time to fight them.

btw.....get ready for the butt reaming when murphy puts them back in action, along with speed cameras.

1 year checkpoint.  Still paid nothing, still see zero repercussions for not paying other than losing my ability to register a car in Maryland.

I wonder if you can rent a car in MD.

I would just check and see if you have any Warrants in MD.  You never know and if you end up getting pulled over and somehow it makes it into NJs system, you might get a roadside rogering.

It’s my understanding that civil complaints cannot result in warrants.

Anyway, how do you check to see if you have any active warrants?  Check in with the local police station?

The police station would be a start, but I suspect you'd just get the run-around.    There are services, but the fees are more than a ticket.   I think all the "free" services are scams, but it's been some years since I tried those things.

If civil complaints can't trigger a failure to appear warrant or somesuch, you're probably fine.   Not knowing would bug me, but then paying to find out would be worse than the stupid ticket in the first place.

would that qualify as your registration privilege being revoked or suspended there? 'cause you know those questions are on your nj renewal........

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
