Cam'mown 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I'm sure I can't be the only one.. so I'm curious what some of you named yours, and maybe meaning of the name and way you chose it. Pictures would be nice too if you got'em. I'll post a pic of mine once I get home. I'll start.. Gun: Beretta 92FS Inox Name: Patricia Meaning: Noble One Why: In honor of my Mom, Patricia that passed away. The name fit my Mom, and I feel it fits the gun too. Also the Beretta is stamped with PB on the slide... Her initials
BlueLineFish 615 Posted May 15, 2012 I have yet to find a gun I love enough to name.
M2AX 0 Posted May 15, 2012 great name, and a nice way to remember your mom as well. I'm still struggling with names for mine ... it's as bad as when my wife and I were coming up with names for the "human" and "canine" children.
MandM 2 Posted May 15, 2012 My canine furkid came with a name (Bandit)... so that one was easy! My guns were a different story. "Vera" (my self built AR) came from a Firefly reference. Jayne: This the best gun made by man. It has *extreme* sentimental value. It's miles more worthy 'n what you got! Mal: What I got? She has a name. Jayne: So does this. I call it Vera. Liesel (my HK45c) got a good strong, yet soft, name embracing her Germanic heritage. Didn't want a harsh name like Helga or Brunhilde.
M2AX 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Love the Firefly reference -- best TV show of all time. Is your avatar pic "Bandit". Beautiful dog.

MandM 2 Posted May 15, 2012 Is your avatar pic "Bandit". Beautiful dog. Yep... that's the Bandit! He's our 2.5 year old, 80lbs Husky/German Shep mix. He's got 2 speeds: full throttle and asleep. (We rescued him from an owner who could no longer keep him and was about to bring him to a shelter.) Thanks!
Jon 264 Posted May 15, 2012 My HK USP45 is my USP45, my USP9 is my USP9, my USP9c is my USP9 compact...
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted May 15, 2012 My HK USP45 is my USP45, my USP9 is my USP9, my USP9c is my USP9 compact... Roger that. Giving pet names to tools is too close to fetishising them for me.
Cam'mown 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Roger that. Giving pet names to tools is too close to fetishising them for me. Fetish: any object, idea, etc., eliciting unquestioning reverence, respect, or devotion I guess I have a gun fetish.. cause I respect my firearms and I'm devoted to them. bobblahblah 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Well I never named any of my rifles I own, but my M16 I had when I was in Army AIT was Michelle Obama aka Black Beauty.
NJScott 15 Posted May 16, 2012 Until I unfortunately bought a Taurus PT-1911, I never named my guns. This .45 is now called "@#*&@!".
BigHayden 77 Posted May 16, 2012 I have yet to find a gun I love enough to name. BlueLineFish just loves them and leaves them! :girlcray: Seriously though, I've never named one either. Nor have I ever named a car, though I have referred to various cars as "she". Naming my sons was hard enough.

Murphy4570 15 Posted May 16, 2012 I call mine the names they were given by the manufacturer. Same with my vehicles. Some folks seem to need to attach names to the things they own. I don't share that peculiar trait.

EMB 1 Posted May 17, 2012 Mine are named The Beretta, The Browning High Power, The Ruger Mark3 (or just The Ruger for short), and The Model 63. In the interest of full disclosure, my cats are named The Fat Cat, The Black Cat, and The Maine Coon. Only my dogs get real names (Remus and BamBam). Old School 611 Posted May 17, 2012 Naming firearms is just plain stupid and gives a sense of animation to an inanimate object. The firearm being viewed as an animate object is what makes the "gun haters" deem them as bad. So play into the haters hands and act like a child and name your firearms. Firearms are tools to be used for various purposes, some very serious. BTW that dog was beautiful!
raz-0 1,259 Posted May 17, 2012 I'm with the non-namers. However, the Frankengun ar-pattern guns are getting a tad ambiguous.

The part of your quote that is ridiculous is saying by naming your gun you are playing into the hands of gun haters. I'm pretty sure the gun haters are more concerned with them being used in crimes and them falling into the wrong hands. To me your arrogance of thinking your negative opinion matters comes off as stupid. No one forced you to post on this thread. If your idea of contributing is calling people stupid, stay off the board. Saying you disagree is one thing...calling people stupid is another.

Didn't call YOU stupid but said naming firearms was stupid. Now considering your response to my post I may have to reconsider that. Now that you are the thought police am I banned? :wild: Name your dolls not your firearms.
