S&W 15-22: anyone got a bead on one available?

Recommended Posts

So being that this POS state is jerking so many ppl around with FID and P2P's (I am one of those) I figured that since my wait for 3 permits may very well put me up against my move to SC this summer I might focus my energy on picking up a couple long guns.

I'm not interested in an AR while I am in NJ, when I get to SC and I don't have stupid restrictions on me then ill pick one up. Need things to settle down and prices to come back to normal or somewhat near normal.

Maybe a S&W 15-22 would be fun to have. I know my wife wouldn't mind shooting it as she gets more comfortable with shooting.

Anyone have info on availability in NJ?

Might consider picking one up.

To tell you the truth I do love my mp15-22 but I originally bought it for the wife to get used to guns. But that really didn't work out as I planned because she like the big brother Ar15. I mentioned this assumption on another thread that my 15-22 was for the wife and a couple people here agree that their significant other really liked the bigger brother Ar.

But good luck on finding one but check out bullseye tactical he had a few on his shelves but all were spoken for. Also he is a vendor in this forum. Give him a buzz.

Last but not least, I love my mp15-22 and I never go to the range without it. It's fun to shoot.

Just ship it to a FFL who can make it compliant. Pin the stock, remove the birdcage and pin a thread protector. I doubt you would need a brake when shooting 22s. These mods to neuter the M&P 15-22 should be relatively cheap.

The only thing you would give up is the magazine (unless you know of a FFL that can pin the mag for you). You would just need to hunt for mags.

I would suggest buying local as you can obtain the NJ compliant one and don't have to go thru the hassle but if you can't, this is the next best thing.

Thanks for all the "check here". After thinking more about it I am going to hold off and may just focus on another rifle. I just hate thinking. About the stupid "have the stock pinned, mags pinned, yada yada yada". NJ has certainly won that battle with me, it's not worth it in my mind right now. When I move to SC this summer ill get what I want and won't be restricted.

    • If you’re going to VA, buy 2 radios.  Program one for here and one for there.  If you guys are buying Baofeng radios do yourself a favor and get a tactical antenna for it,it’ll extend your reach.
    • Both our memories are a bit lacking. 3 bystanders were hit by NYPD bullets and 6 were hit by fragments at the Empire State Building shooting. The bullets later were determined to have passed through the bad guy as I said. He was not a big guy. The police fired 16 rds and 7 hit the bad guy.  Spray and pray?  I think not.  These officers fired until the threat was stopped and everyone is moving. Have you ever tried to hit a moving target whilst you're moving.  If you watch the video from where the police encounter him, the BG draws his gun from his bag, NYPD guys shoot, and the BG hit the ground is about 2 or 3 seconds.  The closest officer is maybe 12 feet or less.  The closest cover are those concrete flower pots.  If the officers chose to take cover before drawing the BG would have had a chance to shoot at least one officer. Know your target and beyond?  Agree 100%.  However, this by the Empire State Building at 9 am during the week.  There are bystanders and traffic in every direction.  The officers had a choice of doing what they did or letting the BG shoot them with his 1911 and shoot someone else. I think they made the right choice and the same one I would have made.  The officers exercised the best option in protecting themselves and the public. The first video is the police shooting.  The second is more detailed and gives you a lot of background information on the shooter. One thing this shows is if NYPD had to use fmj undoubtedly more bystanders would have been wounded perhaps killed.  NJ's hollowpoint law. only creates more danger to the public.
