Cemeterys Gun Blob

Gov Chrisite could announce his gun control package tomorrow

Recommended Posts

This...not that I agree with it, but the .50 ban is a sacrifice to the NJ lib-gods...won't do a damn thing to combat violence, but it will make the anti's happy (for now).

There was mention in another thread that he specifically said "Barrett" and "semi-auto." It sounds like he's purposely tailoring this as narrowly as possible to appease the ignorant, while trying to minimize to collateral damage to us. Kind of like banning an AR-15 by name.

I don't know anything about the .50 cal world, but I would imagine there must be bolt actions without the name "Barrett."

Why is everyone so eager to compromise? Why are we happy that "it's not as bad as it could be?". We're thankful that they're only taking a little bit more?

We need to stop accepting losing and start thinking like we can win. We will never get any of our rights back as long as we're divided and we are divided! A very few think the 2A says that our rights can't be infringed. The majority seem to believe that we should be happy that our rights aren't denied.

Small losses are still losses and they add up. Stop being happy with small losses. We should be united and demand that we start getting some of our rights back instead of being thankful that we're losing them slowly instead of quickly.

Nobody knows how may homes in NJ have guns but it's probably around 2 million. If half of those would stand united, we'd have a different state in a year. If 1 million people wrote a letter demanding the right to carry, if 1 million people called Trenton and demanded the "assault weapons ban" be repealed, if 1 million people showed up in Trenton on a Monday morning and vowed to be back every Monday until the redundant back ground checks were eliminated - it would happen!

Every time 100 people show up, we're screwed!

Agree 100%.

I've been to Trenton, locally at rep's offices, sent letters etc. Where are the other 999,000 other gun owners? Is it that the majority just figures the rest will carry the load? With all the media coverage you would think that many (900k +) citizens of this state would wake the hell up. Maintenance guy is right. How do we get more people involved? I have tried by talking to those on the fence and even talking to existing gun owners. At times it seems in vain. I've managed one convert but talk till I'm blue in the face when it comes to getting others to write, call or take an active part. We can't give any ground. We need more support than a few hundred at a rally in the state Capitol.

For anyone who WANTS Christie to become the next president in 2016.. you must be out of your god-damned minds.

Christie believes that "the government knows best". BS. Complete and utter BS. I hate the two-party system.

yep .. but what if my choices are Christie or Hillary?

Looks like Barrett 50 cal's are done for NJ

Politicians are afraid of these, as they are a threat to politicians if someone possesses them and knows how to use them. Although, there is new body armor that is somewhat effective. Sorta like wrist rockets, no?

You might be right, but didn't he specifically say yesterday that he is against federal government interfearing with state?

Christie is a Politician and an attorney. What do you expect. He is still better than King Mike. And, he certainly needs to continually hear from us, and the national community as well.

This is what I heard too. I listened to him twice.

I wrote him and asked if he knew of any crimes committed with 50cal weapons and why there is such an urgent need to ban them.

He wants to appear like he is doing something so he bans a firearm that very few people will purchase. Most anti gun folks will say he is doing a good job, not realizing the thing cost 10k.

Then something is utterly wrong. Why can't we just primary him out?

Christie has absolutely zero percent chance of being on the ballot for president. A northeastern "Republican" would never be chosen again during national primaries after Romney.

We can start by all being there on 4/30.

I've blocked out vacation time for the committee hearing. See you there.

I'll be there on the 30th. For the first time, I'm going to invite two friends who wouldn't otherwise go. How do we get others to show up?

You got that right. The Republican party leaders think they have to move even further left to win. It will probably be a northeastern socialist.

After reading the proposals from Christie and Sweeney, there is a lot of overlap between the 2. My question is what will happen with the 22 bills that were pushed through the assembly earlier this year?

If the senate doesn't take them up, they die a quiet death.

    • I took down a deck that was attached to the house with a ledger board.  That area now needs to be re-sided.   Its a tough predicament because its such a small job, its only like 24 inches high by about 12 feet wide.  After 3 phone calls last fall i actualy got the guy who built the house to come by, he said "sure, i can do it when i get some down time".   I havent heard from him since. i get it.  its a small job.  I'm a pretty handy guy and out of desperation i could probably watch youtube videos and figure out how to patch this by myself but i think id get lost on trying to match the color and i only need a small amount of material i'd have no idea where to buy a small amount.  So i'm gonna try here if anybody knows a vinyl siding company who wouldnt mind doing what i suppose would be a 30 minute job.  I am fully aware that i would need to have his fee make it worth while for the project even though its such a small patch job.
    • Thanks for the offer @High Exposure and hope you’re doing well.  I’ll be back in just under 2 weeks and we can all work something out.
    • I bought the stainless Rossi lever carbine in .357 a few years ago, to match a bush rifle caliber to my revolvers. I'm pretty sure I paid under $400 at the time. Shoots sweet, reliable, more than accurate enough. When I was shopping for it I kept running into comments on gun forums (not this one, iirc) criticiziing the action compared to the Henrys, but I've never shot a Henry lever gun, and I guess I'm too dumb to notice any issues.
    • Interesting discussion. I have plenty of large, tall trees that I could affix antennae elements to . But then I'd be at the mercy of wind and lightning. Of course, a falling tree could easily take out an adjacent tower as well :-) My biggest mental obstacle with installing a tower is how to get all the pieces up the slope to the install point. A new tower is no doubt a pretty big expense, but I see them on FB Marketplace regularly for fairly cheap, provided the buyer takes the thing down.
    • Nice grab Stu! Beat me to it. @Mr.Stu And @DirtyDigz - Rumson is the next town over from me (maybe a 5 minute drive). I can be a middle-man and grab it if you can’t find a time that works for you guys and @Rob0115.
