alec.mc 180 Posted May 12, 2013 I know I know, sort of general. Up in bar harbor Maine for the week, anybody familiar with gun shops that might be worth a stop on route home or local off highway ?
Soju 153 Posted May 12, 2013 If you are driving back, Kittery Trading Post just before the Piscataqua River Bridge before New Hampshire is usually a good bid. With the current climate, like most gun shops in the country, it could be a toss-up. It is right off of I-95.
AS350Driver 56 Posted May 12, 2013 On the way home, stop at Kittery Trading post, kinda like Cabela's just not as big. While you're in Bar Harbor, check out Bar Harbor brewing co. free samples. Try this place for breakfast,http://www.jeanniesbreakfast.com/ Congrats, BTY. Enjoy the trip.
Maksim 1,504 Posted May 12, 2013 +3 Kittery Trading Post. Also, Cabelas

RS1200XL 4 Posted May 13, 2013 +1 for Kittery or Cabelas. Cabelas has been getting a better supply lately. C&R is near Bath/Brunswick too. Might be worth a shot. Stop in some of the Walmarts too. You may get lucky.
T Bill 649 Posted May 13, 2013 Ya got answers for guns and beer, now all you need to do is hit the docks for a few cockroaches of the sea at Portside Grille.
bad64chevelle 0 Posted May 13, 2013 Another +1 for lottery. Found my last ditch arisaka there last summer .
bad64chevelle 0 Posted May 13, 2013 And by lottery I meant kittery of course
RobertJames 14 Posted May 13, 2013 IIRC there is a strip mall in Trenton, Maine (ironic, huh?) right on route 3 just before you cross over onto Mount Desert Isle that has a gun shop. Last time I was in Maine I stopped in and chatted for a while. If I remember, the owner used to live here in NJ and could not believe how nuts it had become here. I think this is the place And while on Mt Desert Island, check out Atlantic Brewing Co. if you are a beer drinker.
blksheep 466 Posted May 13, 2013 I drove up 95 this weekend and called every box store on the east coast and no one had any .22.
voyager9 3,441 Posted May 13, 2013 Grew up on MDI. Any questions let me know. Can't think of any gun shops off the top of my head. Except llbean and cabelas.
Mike48 0 Posted May 13, 2013 https://www.mainemilitary.com/productcart/pc/home.asp http://vanraymondoutfitters.com/ those are the big ones....in that area..... .....there are lots of smaller trading posts selling ammo, chain saw bars and blades....etc....I even saw an Ice cream shop in Dover selling 7.62x39....well....it was right next to an Ice cream shop... usnmars 136 Posted May 13, 2013 Wow, I will call some family and see whats up there, my Grandpa is a lobsterman out of Bar Harbor and my Uncle has a lobster boat out of Bucksport. If you go up to Bucksport at all send me a PM, my family owns some interesting property with Indian carved murals of Captain Buck and depicts the story of his boats coming ashore. CMJeepster 2,781 Posted May 14, 2013 If you make it to Portland, stop by Gritty McDuff's.
mipafox 438 Posted May 14, 2013 Love it up there, but no recommendations on gun shops.
Steve_G 51 Posted May 14, 2013 Pick me up some spp on your way back. Thanks.
10X 3,319 Posted May 14, 2013 If you're into serious target shooting, Larry's Guns in Gray, Maine should be worth a stop. I've not been there in person, but I've been a mail order customer, and they carry stuff that is VERY hard to find elsewhere. They do operate a brick-and-mortar shop. http://www.larrysguns.com/Default.aspx
notmetoo 41 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm headed to Bar Harbor in August - thanks to everyone who responded to the OP, this will be a big help for me as well.

Kittery was the best stop, all the smaller shops along the way were ok, but bare and over priced
