Steve_G 51 Posted December 4, 2013 My one complaint about STI guns appears to be history. From an STI rep on another forum: As of about a month or so ago, all new pistols built here in our factory (except the GI) will sport the smaller engravings. I'm working now on getting photos of all the new ones (and will update the website once I have them all) but here's a couple I have finished: someone mentioned the Trojan? lunker 274 Posted December 4, 2013 Awesome. That was my one gripe about STI.
The_Matrix 105 Posted December 4, 2013 Even smaller would be better. I was interested in the Trojan about 2 years ago until I saw the BIG TROJAN word on the side. A big turn off.

I agree with you on the old one, but I think this is smaller than most other rollmarks.
ronhonda 86 Posted December 4, 2013 I like my BIG TROJAN. It stands out. However I do NOT like the scallop cuts on the front strap. They suck.
Arbelest 29 Posted December 4, 2013 How much does an STI go for? I'm looking for a 1911 to add to the list.
zoid 24 Posted December 4, 2013 Wow way better! Makes me want one even more!
ronhonda 86 Posted December 4, 2013 How much does an STI go for? I'm looking for a 1911 to add to the list. $700-$3500 for a stock STI, possibly more for a custom built.

Russell 3 Posted December 4, 2013 For some reason the large logo doesn't bother me on my Trojan; normally I don't like billboard rollmarks. But the new rollmark does look nice.

Howard 538 Posted December 4, 2013 Cool, just ordered this STI Trojan: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=8000188D-1360956291
alec.mc 180 Posted December 4, 2013 Cool, just ordered this STI Trojan: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=8000188D-1360956291 It's a fine gun, I had one for a while. Now, mind you - you're ordering from Dawson - They put their own touches on them. Meaning, the gun has probably been in their inventory for a little while.... and this new roll mark thing sounds pretty new, so... If you're expecting to get one with the new smaller roll marks I would call them up and confirm first, I'd put my money on you getting the old style. -Alec
Howard 538 Posted December 4, 2013 Thanks Alec. I am ok with it either way. I've tried Russell's and love the gun.
tony357 386 Posted December 4, 2013 Cool, just ordered this STI Trojan: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=8000188D-1360956291 I recently purchased one from dawson, ended up buying their extra mags they worked better with the dawson extended button. after having it for a few months i broke it down and filed the dawson button so my cmc power mags would work with it.. SgtToadette 59 Posted December 6, 2013 Half the reason I'd get a 1911 is for style. Its a shame so many manufacturers feel the need to pimp out the side of the slide as a billboard. Kudos to STI.

Howard 538 Posted December 18, 2013 Finally got to pick up my new Dawson STI Trojan 9mm and give her a try today. It has the new markings and with me holding it actually was able to shoot a 2" group at 15 yards
