AVB-AMG 530 Posted May 8, 2015 Wow.... 70 years ago today!I completely forgot..... Once I get home I will put out our American Flag as a respectful gesture to commemorate all of the allied soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice, fighting in the name of freedom and against fascist aggression, as well as the innocent civilians caught in the path of battle.(Yes, I know there is much more to it than that, but for today’s significant date, that is sufficient….) High Exposure 5,670 Posted May 8, 2015 Took the little guy to see some WWII muscle last fall at Morristown Airport: P51C: B17G B24J Bombs away: Bogey, 10 o'clock high: It was an awesome day, and an excellent display of american air power!
siderman 1,139 Posted May 8, 2015 I've watched these old WWII planes numerous times at Cape May Airport and Teterboro Airport. Having them fly over you at very low altitude-couple hundred feet- is the definition of cool! Walking thru them I too feel like a little kid

10X 3,306 Posted May 9, 2015 Do they have that show in Morristown every year? I believe that was a Collings Foundation event. They move around from year to year; this year the NJ stops seem to be Wall Township and Cape May. http://www.collingsfoundation.org/events/category/wings-of-freedom-tour/list/?action=tribe_list&tribe_paged=5&tribe_event_display=list
High Exposure 5,670 Posted May 9, 2015 Yup, Collings Foundation. Last year's stops were Wall Twp (Allaire) in the spring and Morristown in the fall. ETA: If you have $3200 you can fly the P51C for an hour (its a 2 seater)! Thanks AVB-AMG.
