Jack Reacher Movie

Recommended Posts

No spoilers here. This isn't a critically acclaimed movie, but it is good fun. Lots of action and a bit of schmaltz. If you are a Reacher fan you will enjoy it. Just one heads-up: There is a scene in the movie where Jack is flying to New Orleans from Norfolk. He steals an ID to accomplish this - the scene in question has a TSA agent studying the photo on the bogus ID and then looking at the person in front of him - an obvious mismatch, but of course, he lets him through anyway (a little jab at the TSA there). The person that plays the TSA agent is Lee Child - the creator of Jack Reacher and author of all the Reacher books. Have fun.

Adios,

.I'm unclear how runty 5'6" Tom Cruise got the role of a 6'5" brute.  Also, Jack Reacher doesn't drive.   30 seconds into the first movie, he's tooling down the highway.

Ah well, I guess the first one was fun for what it was.

He drives but he does not have a DL

Dave

More like he doesn't own much or a car. I though the first one was great, especially Duval(sp?)

I'd live to see it.

Everybody looks big on the silver screen. If I'm not mistaken, he does a lot of his own stunts and is in pretty good shape although he needs to hit the bench. Boy def needs bigger pecs. :)

No doubt. She is ultra hot. She made the movie with her beauty, those eyes, that smile, those boobz... ehem, lol.

But I've been a fan of his work since forever. He's a crackup.

As an avid consumer of the books for the last 14 years or so, I reached out to Lee when the first movie was set for production asking about the casting.  His publicist returned my mail promptly the next day and noted that they were excited that Cruise signed on.  Obviously it was the star power in play  You can't really blame them, although a guy like Dolf Lungren would fit the attibutes far better (or a younger version by now).  Dwayne Johnson might have fit the mark these days, for star power and actually looking the part.

But I always liked the MI movies with Cruise, so I can live with it.  But yeah, a 5'6" actor does not convince anyone that he fits the 6'5" 250lb Reacher character.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
