And now for something completely new and different... LOL Adios, Pizza Bob

The room got a little smoky reading that. Col. Powers is spot on. While it sickens, and saddens me to see the behavior of these special snowflakes towards my country, flag, and national anthem, I have to tell myself that it IS their 1st amendment rights to do so. My brothers, and sisters in arms sacrificed immensely so that the snowflakes continue to have the right to act like assholes. I don't approve of their actions and words, but I respect their right to express them. That's what freedom is all about. I am a HUGE Cowboys fan, but I don't think I'll be watching, or attending any NFL games this year. I can express my distaste for they way that the 1% of the NFL behaves by not giving them my money. The players who disrespect this country disrespect my fellow soldiers, sailors, and airmen who have made so many personal sacrifices, including their lives. The players (and many others in this country) would do well to reflect upon WHY they have the freedoms they enjoy today, and are able to make the money they do.

I don’t think this could have been said any better and it definitely is about time someone said it. Hopefully, this will go out over EVERY computer in the U.S. and maybe, just maybe, these sports people will get the message of just how ridiculous they are to disrespect our flag, and how little what they do in sports compare to what our great military has done for this country.. NFL protesting the flag - POWERFUL!! Ret. Marine Col. Jeffery Powers wrote to the NFL commissioners the following: Commissioners, I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium. I missed the ’90-’91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it. Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins. Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country besides playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re not! My Marines and Soldiers were! You are complicit in this! You’ll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner. What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly? I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone? Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game! You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines. I applaud those who have not. These players should be fined and never play football again on any team. Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don’t do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don’t even have ice! Many don’t have legs or arms. Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes. I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you! Time to change the channel. Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida congressman Allen West. West then posted the letter on his news website. As of last week, at least 18 NFL player had protested the anthem by either kneeling during the anthem or raising their fists, according to USA Today Sports. If you agree with what he said please pass this on.

The "Reveal" as Glock is calling it, will be midnight of the 26th. We are open to the public for shopping at 7am, I would guess there will be a line to get in.

Seriously, I can no longer understand the obsession with muzzle brakes. They literally do nothing on a .223 semi-auto.

Thank you Col Powers. I knew Sgt Mongrella. I attended his funeral. These overpaid self-important assholes can kiss my left nut. The NFL will never see a dime from me while they tolerate this crap.

"Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game" That basically sums up why I don't watch any sports. Waste of time.

Just heard about this and then found it on the NRA-ILA site. Rep Chris Collins, of NY of all places, introduced the SAGA bill H.R. 3576, basically making state level AWBs illegal. From the NRA site "The SAGA would ensure that state regulations could not effectively prevent the manufacture, sale, importation, or possession of any rifle or shotgun lawfully available under federal law or impose any prohibitive taxes, fees, or design limitations on such firearms." start calling and emailing your reps and lets get this pushed thru. https://www.nraila.org/articles/20170804/second-amendment-guarantee-act-would-protect-popular-rifles-shotguns-from-antigun-politicians

Did everyone see this article already? Potential Gov. Murphy the Turkey wants to place a special tax on guns - NJ2AS has an article about it published in an online gun site. Link: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/08/robert-farago/new-jersey-democratic-gubernatorial-hopeful-phil-murphy-planning-to-tax-firearms/ My thoughts (in no particular order): - I'll reiterate what we already know... If this guy gets in, it will be "no holds barred" against legal gun owners (not illegal gun owners, mind you... they'll be JUST FINE!) - Why oh why does NJ2AS always post on a national website like The Truth About Guns... but NOT here? (I guess this relates to Zeke's earlier question on the same topic). But it's almost starting to tick me off. If you want to reach out and expand your membership base... wouldn't you tap into something called "NEW JERSEY Gun Forums?" rather than posting on out-of-state sites? Why not post to both of those? (Sheesh! I'm almost starting to question their marketing chops. Hope I'm wrong). - That said, as much as this hobby is already killing me on costs (even just the accessories, eyes, ears, mags, etc.) ... I personally intend to grit my teeth, dip into my shrinking bank account, and cough up the bucks to join the few NJ 2A groups. I figure I can afford that... all seem to have reasonable dues. And I can only hope these groups will cooperate amongst each other... and make wise choices. We're going to need all the advocacy we can muster - and some of that needs to come from in-state sources, I think.

It has been more than a couple years ago that we used to hold informal meet-ups just to BS about guns, legislation, competition, the challenges of being a gun person and living in this gulag or whatever gun topic moved us. Time marches on and we have many new members on the board, so it seems appropriate to revive this, dare I say, tradition? Here's the skinny. Key word above is "informal". There is no agenda, there is no sign-up or a request to know who's coming and who's not. There is no rescheduling - come, don't come - do whatever the spirit moves you. This will be held outdoors at the Starbucks on Route 31 and Denow Road. They are the end unit of a small strip mall and can be seen easily from 31. For you GPS users I believe the physical address is 800 Denow Road, Hopewell Twp. It is about a mile or so north of the I-95 / Rt. 31 exit. I would ask that if you attend, please patronize our "host" and at least buy a cup of coffee. This will occur this Thursday evening (8/24) starting at 6:30 PM and lasting until the last person leaves. I'll be there at 6:30 with Maggie (my brown GSP), who is a Starbucks regular. If you have one - you may want to throw some kind of chair in your trunk so we don't co-opt all of the business' seating (it could happen). At the worst I'll enjoy a nice frew-frew drink by myself and go home - at the best, we'll get a nice turn-out and have a pleasant evening discussing the things we like best. Hope to see you there. Adios, Pizza Bob

If I protested at my employer, and my employer did nothing, it's fair to believe my employer endorsed what I was doing. I fully support the right of these assholes to protest ON THEIR OWN TIME. At a game they're on the NFL's time - their employer. That the NFL and the teams allows it is a show of support. Others have already given examples of behavior the NFL won't tolerate. Why those and not this? The right to protest is absolute, but it doesn't mean you won't face any consequences of that protest. Without football these clowns would be nothing. If they hate the US so much let them go play it anywhere else. Lotsa luck...

I had an email exchange with Hornady a couple of months ago. I persisted and they finally admitted that shipping the ammo to NJ is legal if you give them a copy of your FPID. They said they would update the instructions, but I guess they didn't do that. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I do not attend, nor do I watch football games, so I have no direct influence on the NFL. What I have done is wrote to: 1. Pepsi (maker of Gatorade) and told them I will now be drinking PowerAde (made by Coke) instead. 2. Visa and told them I will now be using Discover card. 3.Campbell's and said I will now be buying Progresso. 4. FedEx and said all my shipping needs will be handled by UPS or the post office. Maybe if enough people who are fed up with this BS did the same, the sports stars(?) singers and actors will change. As was said in a song from the 60's "Money doesn't talk it screams"

The rifle is held vertically in the clam shell of the safe. The lug holds the weight of the rifle secured and keeps it from slipping/sliding down out of the safe even with the door open. I don't know if storing ARs in a regular safe with a loaded mag and bolt locked to the rear is the best choice without some kind of chamber flag or lug to keep the bolt open until you want it to go home. Too many chances for Murphy to get involved. A full mag on a closed bolt with the safety on is the way to go if you want to keep mags in the guns in the safe. Keep in mind, this particular safe isn't for storage - its to keep a rifle ready for HD. Bump in the night - open safe, pull rifle, smack bolt release - good to go. In this instance, bolt to the rear, loaded mag makes sense - but there is still a lug to ensure the bolt doesn't go into battery until you want it to.

Good info John. The rifle I keep in there has a Magpul Fixed carbine stock installed. It works fine. I never run a fully collapsed stock so I never would have even thought about that. Side note - I have a 15/20 in there as it sits but a USGI 30 rounder with Magpul Ranger Plate will fit. I like the ejection port lug. Just keep the rifle on safe and the bolt locked back with a loaded mag in the well. Even if the bolt goes home the rifle is still on safe, and you follow the commonly accepted firearms safety rules - you are good to go.

That is not strictly true. In spite of my disdain for brakes, they do have a legit purpose in competition. Even the muzzle device manufacturers are recognizing the annoyances they cause and are now offering add-ons to direct blast downrange like a linear comp.
  33. 1 point
Okay then......I pledge I will NEVER do this to an AR!...... F the PRNJ!

Wonderful suggestion. I think I'll be writing both Jerry Jones, and the NFL Comissioner.
  35. 1 point
Might I suggest...? Withholding your viewing time and your dollars is your right (after all, Kap and other players are free to protest and express their opinions... but so are YOU!). That said, I think you should make sure your protest is not a silent one. Simply sending an email or a hardcopy letter to your team's owners and the NFL mgmt, telling them that you'll no longer be watching and why, would be much more impactful! Power of the pen, baby! Don't underestimate it.

In NJ it is virtually mandatory to attach the loudest most obnoxious brake you can find. Bonus points if it can knock objects off the tables to your left and right at the range. You will make many friends that way. If you want to be a total wuss you can get a linear compensator that directs muzzle blast downrange. The most pathetic of all is a $2 thread protector. If the 3# of recoil energy is just too much for you, then yes, you definitely need a muzzle brake. Just to be clear. The purpose of a brake is to mitigate recoil. A compensator is to mitigate muzzle rise. Most muzzle devices are a hybrid of the two features.
  37. 1 point
Welcome to the forum. You don't have a bayonet lug so that's good. If it has a flash suppressor, which it probably does, it will have to be replaced with a muzzle brake. The brake will have to be pinned and welded or just welded so that it's permanent. You don't need to replace the adjustable stock, just drill a hole and insert a pin so it is not adjustable. Lastly, Loose the 30 round mags. here in the PRNJ (Peoples Republic of New Jersey), We can not have any magazine capable of holding more than 15 rounds. Make sure the lower does NOT read Colt AR-15. Are you sure you still want to move here?

Tried the Aimpoint 3x magnifier in a LaRue FTS mount for quite some time. Had it behind an Aimpoint M4, a couple of T1s (2 and 4moa versions) and some PROs. Took multiple multi-day classes with it. I just couldn't warm up to it and ended up trading it for a Trijicon RMR. It was heavy, gave the rifle a weird balance when flipped to side, hung up on stuff, I was measurably slower inside 100 yards. Zeke, just get a PRO and call it a day. Unless you are planning on regularly shooting people over 100 yards away or doing a lot of benchrest type shooting, you will be much better served with an Aimpoint and a pair of 8x binoculars. Spend the money you would have spent on the magnifier and buy ammo and take a class. You will get better results at all distances. If you think you absolutely have to have a magnified optic, get a 1-6 variable powered scope. Vortex Strike Eagle is hard to beat for the $$.

You and a lot of other people! Owners tried to blame it on everything EXCEPT THE OBVIOUS: viewers were getting disgusted with all the spoiled brat political grandstanding. But recent poll shows that's EXACTLY the top reason why they're losing viewers. I predict that will continue to slide downhill this year. .. because it doesn't look like the NFL has learned its lesson quite yet.
