Price of gas

Recommended Posts

When oil was $22/bbl. Trump wanted to fill the SPR. Upchuck Schumer stopped it saying it was a big gift to the oil companies.

Then Biden sold off a lot of it when gas prices were rising, claiming he'd refill it when prices came down.

Now oil prices are up and still rising, and there's no SPR for Biden to plunder prior to the election.

Filled up the rental car this morning before heading home from Sunnyvale. $5.45/gallon for regular.

That's about $2 a gallon more than NJ.

What's Newsome's plan to recoup those taxes if everyone goes electric?

$6.39/gallon today in Sunnyvale Ca.

I wonder how the CA hood rats can afford to fill up their 7mpg low riders and escalades.  I mean, with gas prices that high, you gotta be pretty damned mad at someone to do a drive by shooting.

When I lived by San Diego and went to LA, think it got to over $5.00, they had $100 limits per fill up, you had to put your card in again for a 2nd transaction to finish filling up, was told it was to prevent stealing, never understood it.

Also at some stations had guards to stop some people from forcing others to pay for their gas.

Also known as stealing.

When you pay by card, it puts a hold for a fixed amount on the card. Then when you are done pumping, it charges the actual amount you bought, which is assumed to be less than the fixed amount. SO in the sense that they verify funds availability, it is preventing you consuming something you can't pay for. With the huge jump in gas prices, some places upped it, but many didn't. Mainly because the people coming in putting $10-20 at a pop on a card may not have $200-300 on their cards to soak up the hold.
