Central Jersey - The Final Countdown

Recommended Posts

I certainly wouldn't have driven down if I had known the reception that was waiting.

I'm a member at Cherry Ridge. It's a very safe range. I wouldn't tolerate any nonsense anywhere I was shooting nor do I think anyone here would either and I've met a good chunk of the regular posters.

I drove 5 hours for the day and pulled a trigger 11 times. Woohoo. It sort of damped my enthusiasm a bit.

Aw well, I've got no dog in this race. I just don't see what any of the members may have done wrong. If you want a private club, set the rules and be done with it.

Boy did I miss a lot in a half of a day.

You guys are a big club and you run a nice facility. I think you said you have something like 2600 members. I belong to a little facility called Cherry Ridge, we have somewhere in the 5000 member range and never had an accident. I know you used your 2600 members as a driving force in your lecture in the clubhouse so I just wanted to put it out there that your small compared to others.

Now enough with that. After reading what you have posted, I almost want to entirely retract the statement that I had posted sunday night about the way you guys handled yourself. To know that you had been reading this thread for days, and the fact that you portrayed yourself as someone else to entrap current members is absurd. If I was a member of CJRPC you could bet your bottom dollar I'd be at that meeting tonight and bringing this to both the board of directors and to current members. Then I would be forced to question whether or not you are someone who should be in a leadership position.

Now what did we learn.

Big groups of people, should probably get prior authorization from said club!

Events need to be more organized where people will be signing people in, sort of a buddy system

Club directors should not be decitful, should be upfront if they encounter a situation, and most importantly, don't lecture current members in front of non members, all you do is make yourself look foolish, and make the very own club you care OH SO MUCH about look foolish too.

Like I said, what went down sucked, both sides screwed up, and I'm not pointing blame at either side because both sides were wrong.

This is why events run off of NJGF are going to be handled completely differently in the future, and I hope that this will allow a better experience for both visitors, members, and the club. Stay tuned for future shooting events.

I was gonna stay out of this, but something "flipflop" said really bugged me:

In an attempt to answer my questions, without interfering with your day out, I logged onto NJ Gun Forum as USJeep. I asked several questions, one of which got my attention.

Guys-

A lot of you are saying things about both sides being wrong. This is CLEARLY not the case. Only one side did something devious, I'm sorry, we are allowed 2 guests and we each signed in 2 guests. we stayed with these guests.

If I would have said : "dont worry, do whatever you want to, we wont care" it would not have made me GUILTY. Only after letting a guest do whatever they wanted, then I would be guilty of not following club rules. there is no such thing as "conspiracy to not watch your guests". That's just plain ridiculous.

We did absolutely nothing wrong, and I'm not going to hear that we did, its crazy talk. Now there's talk that the guest rules are set to be changed. Oh, really? At the general meeting everyone is in an uproar about one gun a month and rightfully so, but you are going to change rules that have been in for decades and make it what, 1 guest a month?

Sounds hypocritical to me...

Tiny,

I can only speak for myself. The ONLY problem I really had with this event was that even on the day of the event I was a little unclear as to how everyone was going to get in and what the plan for the day was. I knew the 1 member - 2 guests thing. I knew the meeting place. But that's all I knew. I was concerned that there would be problems getting into the range, not so much because I was worried about the board, but because I wasn't clear as to how the whole process worked. Maybe that was just me.. I like to have things clearly layed out in front of me, and don't like surprises. But I feel that this complicated things a little bit on the day of the event.

That said, in no way do I feel Anthony's underhanded actions were justified.. nor do I feel the board reacted appropriately.

I'm not going to qoute Pete but I am going to whole heartedly agree with him.

I didn't want to point fingers but your attitude towards what happened and the, it wasn't my fault is just stupid.

If I hadn't started the thread the week before the event was suppose to take place, this event probably would of never happened. The orgainizational skills that went into this event, didn't even exist. You had no idea who was coming, who you had to guest people in, what time we were meeting, or where we were meeting.

So to sit there and say, I did nothing wrong, its all the board members fault that this happened is the same reason that this event was a complete and utter cluster F.

Sorry to be the Dbag of the day, but stop pointing fingers and stand up and accept the results for your actions

Your statement is beyond silly

cluster F? how exactly was it a cluster F? did we meet? did we get in the club? did we shoot? Maybe the CJRPC members have to deal with somr stuff coming up, but with the exception of you guys being in the clubhouse for a whopping 15 minutes to listen to the nonsense, how was your day ruined? How were you affected? But you are right, the MEMBERS were wrong. If we would have just gave in, you guys would have driven 2 1/2 hours for nuttin. yeah, you are right I'm not accepting my actions

I think you should think before you write your comments. There is NO finger pointing here. There was NO wrong done, sorry to disappoint you. You can go on the CJRPC website and read the rules. I've read them 72 times since I was looking to join.

the only wrong done here was USjeep decide to play Magnum PI and he should be ashamed. We have enough people in this country trying to stop us from shooting.

At least you got the Dbag of the day part right

matt6669 I was going to start a thread the same day you started this one but you beat me to it. I was also working members who are not on this forum as back up if needed for guests. So I saw know need to stress anyone out that is why I said i we had it covered. So it was not a disorganized as you portay I kept things quiet so you guys didn't stress as much.

Sorry if this caused you more stress.

Alright, relax guys. =)

I dont think it was that terribly disorganized. Everyone who was planning on making it, did make it, no one was out to dry, we had enough members. It really was a bunch of friends just getting together to shoot.

It was not an open event for everyone and their mother to attend... if it was, Tim and I would get involved, and we would have the range know about it.

None of the CJ members did anything wrong. there was members and guests combined apx 15 to 18 total, and alot were there earlier.

If this was an event open to anyone in the public, we would have to go through other means, and the process would be completely different.

end of story, lesson learned.

I'm a little late in posting since flipflop or usjeep or whoever the hell that was said some bullsh!t. You thought we were a bunch of idiots that had no idea what we were doing or were unsafe in firearms usage. How wrong you were sir. I don't know if you got your depends in a bunch or if the viagra was kicking in, but don't you trust your own members to make sure everyone conducts themselves in a safe manner? Do you follow around new members like you followed us around? I bet not. The goal of the event was to bring friends together, do some shootin, and make new friends. Not to mention try out a new range to see if you want to join. Even after you tried your "gotcha" trick in the clubhouse, a few of the so-called intruders became members. Isn't that the idea? Shame on you old farts for trying to spoil our day becuase you were on a little power trip. Cherry Ridge is a class act range that opened their arms to us when we arrived, you guys tried to shut the door before we could get in.

Sorry Maksim, I've got a big mouth and I don't care if I'm being rude or inpolite.

and I was going to be joining Central Jersey, but I will be sticking with Dix... at least you know exactly what you are getting there, and no one tries to do a background check to see if you will be bringing a guest whom you have only met on the internet.

14 pages - this thread needs to be locked before we end up beating the crud out of each other...

I agree. It doesn't look like Anthony (flipflop) plans to respond openly, and all we're doing is snapping at each other.

Sorry if this caused you more stress.

This thread started with the list of members and guests posted along with the address of the meet-up and range and the time. Later in the post, people had questions about targets that were answered and Pete even took the time to start listing members with possible guest. The day before the event, the list was updated with what to bring, when to meet, where to meet and who we expected to attend. Sounded pretty organized to me?

How was anybody to know that a few of the board people were lurking here and setting us up for an ambush? In the end, we all got to shoot, I put a face on a lot of people who I had become friends with online. I had a great day and hope everyone else did as well. It is counter productive to second guess everything now. We will continue to learn something from every event that is held and hopefully will get better at holding them.

With that said, maybe this thread has outlived it's usefulness and should be locked? Move along everyone, nothing to see here.
