Gathering from all of your posts, I gather this is a clique of 20-30-something guys that get together on a regular basis. My question to you is: Can you put-up with an Old Fart at your gathering? I'll bring lots of toys and I share well with others. This won't be a regular thing for me, because like you guys from N Jersey, it's a bit of a hike (about an hour), but being that this is something special, I'd like to meet you guys. Plus I have two guns I haven't shot yet, so there's added incentive. I'll be there around 7 - 7:30. Can someone give me a few more details about BA - How much for non-members? What ammo is allowed? How long is the range? Is there a room for socializing? Distinguishing characteristics, so I can recognize some of you? Thanks guys - hope you don't mind - if you do, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I will be the best looking one there...very fit, and in shape, tall and skinny. Just look for the guy hitting all the bulls eyes.

That is their website actually. It answers some of the questions you brought up. I'm not positive about the costs for non-members. I want to say its $20 (somebody chime in!), but I'm sure somebody wouldn't mind guesting you in tonight (which would be free of course). The only rule they have for ammunition is that the largest rifle caliber that can be fired is a .300 mag... all pistol calibers are fine. There is space behind the stalls where most of the guys BS, or you can step right outside of the range into the store area.

Even for me, being from Central NJ, its still a good 45 minute drive... so, I feel your pain.

Thanks bbk. See you there tonight.

Bob, I will be there so there will be at least 2 old farts there! Ther is plenty of room in the front for socializing and the range has a bit of room behind the firing line. The range is 25 yards and they will let you shoot any pistol ammo and most rifles. If you are bringing a shotty, you have to use buckshot. I believe it is $15.00 for non-members. I will be there around 7:30.

Well, I shot my Mark III Hunter last week so it will be the XD9 tonight. Of course, when I cleaned the Ruger she gave me a little fit with the bar...but after a try or two, I got it. And, I figured out what the problem is! You have to make sure the trigger is pulled (empty mag) when you take it apart and the hammer has to be up after you put in the bolt but before you put in the pin!

What a meet, I think we had 20+ shooters there tonight, and most were forum members. Matt and Chad played nice and everyone was sharing their toys! It was great seeing so many people I met at the CJRP meet in October. It looked like Chad got quit a bit of food for the food bank donation as well. Way to go everybody!

Agreed. Good times. Thank you everyone for letting me play with your toys

Good time! Really nice to meet the folks I haven't met yet. HUGE thanks to everyone for the food and toy donations, it was REALLY nice of you guys, and it is so appreciated. All that food will really go a long way, and I will guarantee the toys will put a smile on a few less fortunate children's faces.

I'm so embarrassed, we were all outside talking, and I got in my car and left without paying!!! As soon as I realized I called Daniel and told him to charge my walk-on / target fees to Matt's account. lol...just kidding I gave them a credit card over the phone, I can't believe I did that!!!

Thank you again to all the guys that contributed the food and toys. Many years ago when my family first moved to the states, we had the help from similar organizations. It really is a dire situation for alot of people, and what is as little as opening up our cabinets and donating extra food we dont eat, literrally is a weeks worth to a struggling family. And no, not families there by choice.

I was extremly proud of the support that we put together, especially those that made it out just for this, and I couldnt be more honored to be associated with you guys.

Big Thank you to Bob, thanks so much for letting me shoot those gems. You really spoiled me tonight, I am definitely keeping that DW on my list of guns to buy!!

Tim and John, I dislike you both with those XD's with the trigger jobs, I now need one, not want one, its now in the NEED category.

Maks I can't believe you let me down, no t-shirts nothing :(

Everyone else, it was great meeting people I haven't met before, and good meeting people I haven't. NJGF shoots are always a blast and this one was definitely no different!!

And last but not least, I want to personally thank Chad for bringing my G/F along. It was a little awkward having her husband there but we managed to exchanged a few winks when Chad wasn't looking so it was definitely worth it :) All kidding aside little buddy, it was a pleasure meeting with you, glad I could bring some food down to help the cause, and it was great meeting you. Now get ready to be a Daddy!!!

Oh and its 2:30 and I just got home. We have like 4 inches in west milford right now, quite lovely to drive home in.

Likewise Matt!!!

I saw the exchanging of winks when you both were walking out of the ladies room. Don't worry, I smacked her around a little bit on the way home and she spilled the beans, she told me all about you two!

What time did you leave???? You didn't get home till 2:30???? My wife, your girlfriend told me about the 4 inches already. But she told me thats stretching it.

I left Tim's about midnight. I stopped at BK lounge as well, so it realistically took me 2 hours to get home which isn't too bad. But man, I'm just in a little car now and I was passing people in big bad 4wd trucks. People need to learn how to drive in the snow

Oh and that 4 inches is still beating your 1 inch that your wife / my girlfriend openly admitted that you had, so I'm still winning!

Guys, thanks for the great time last night. Really enjoyed meeting all of you. As I said, the distance kind of prevents this from being a regular thing, but for special events like last night (food & toys & the Northern representatives) it's very "doable".

Glad I was able to corrupt Matt - although can't figure out why anyone would prefer a DW (revolver) over a S&W - especially an N-frame. To each his own, afterall he is from North Jersey and they do things a little differently up there

Maks - who coveted my RCS - S&W also makes the same configuration called the 1911ES - only two-tone, no night sights and no melt job, but the same Commander over Officer's layout. Just thought you'd like to know since you already have a S&W 1911 (verrrrry nice and thanks).

Always nice to be able to put a face with a name on the board. Thanks again for putting up with me.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
