Ray Ray 3,566 Posted August 29, 2011 Well shoot, I guess that's a good enough reason It was supposed to be primary and secondary, in case one fails. But since when do AKs fail?
vjf915 456 Posted August 29, 2011 It was supposed to be primary and secondary, in case one fails. But since when do AKs fail? I was confused at the first sentence, but then the second sentence tied it up for me. It would make more sense to have one as a backup in case you lose one, than in case one fails. tuktuk 16 Posted November 10, 2011 Finished project. Pretty happy with the way it came out. Sorry for the crapy pic. Will take some better ones later on. This look was inspired by AK that I saw on the pic that my cousin took in Iraq together with spec ops unit of one of our allies. They were conducting some op together and it was successful. Have a correct sling for it too The rifle is in compliance with all NJ regulations. Muzzle break is pinned, bayonet lug is disabled, wire side folder is welded in open position, the magazine was permanently modified to take only 15 rnds

RecessedFilter 222 Posted November 18, 2011 This is a 74 Bulgarian matching parts kit put together by the awesome team down at WQ. Chrome lined barrel, gun cote, 74 brake, etc. A real top of the line AK. Neutering to comply with NJ laws was done by JetAgent, I have had numerous guns worked on by them and they always do a good job. Minor trigger job was also done by JetAgent, we will see how it shoots today but dry firing it was niiiice. They also worked on the internals to make the bolt rack much smoother, 74 bolt carriers tend to be a little clanky. Wood was refinished by yours truly, my first attempt at refinishing any sort of wood and I think I nailed it! I was going for a dark red with a haze of dark brown. Other goodies are on there that you can and can't see. It went from a regular 74 to now a hybrid with all different additions (example - the DD from a Romanian kit), but I love it. *rifle and magazine are fully compliant for NJ state regulations and requirements* Finishing up the trigger: The hybrid that it is: A little fun with Kim: All done for now: A couple things are in the works for it in the future, but we will see... RAL1979 9 Posted November 26, 2011 I'm new to the AK world, but here is my WASR 10 63. Replaced that terrible wood with Tapco OD Green furniture (bad picture). Nothing special but it's a start. Possibly plan on refinishing the wood.

RecessedFilter 222 Posted November 26, 2011 That Draganov should be 7.62x54R (Mosin caliber). BIG round!
tuktuk 16 Posted November 26, 2011 That Draganov should be 7.62x54R (Mosin caliber). BIG round! I beilve its PSL not an SVD but yes, 7.62x54
Turboprop21 12 Posted November 26, 2011 Yea it's a PSL 7.62x54r Closest I could afford to a real Dragunov. Thing is dead on accurate, no complaints at all
david8613 69 Posted November 26, 2011 i figured, those rounds look NASTY! really nice rifle...
Maksim 1,504 Posted November 26, 2011 Nice PSL. For those that may not know... a PSL (Romanian sub 1k gun) shares nothing, absolutely nothing besides the looks with the Original, real Dragunov SVD or its closest copy, a Chinese NDM-86. Then there is the sporter version, the Tiger. The PSL is essentially an AK chambered out to take 7.62x54r with a longer barrel.
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted November 26, 2011 Yeah, if you call a PSL an SVD the SVD owners will throw a fit because they paid $3500-4500 for theirs and the PSL is nowhere near that lol.
vjf915 456 Posted November 26, 2011 I was lucky enough to fire Nick's PSL. It was a nice rifle. Surprisingly it didn't have much more, if any, felt recoil than my Saiga in 7.62x39.
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted November 26, 2011 Thats because its heavier, has a brake, and the butt plate is actually spring loaded. Soft shooters indeed!
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 26, 2011 Thats because its heavier, has a brake, and the butt plate is actually spring loaded. Soft shooters indeed! Too bad the scope is right handed only, but Nick's (krdshrk) rifle is a thumper.
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted November 27, 2011 Yeah but you can get centered scopes for it. If you aren't a lefty though the best scope is the 8x, 4x is a little weak for my tastes. Illuminated too.
