Got a new toy, pic heavy!

Recommended Posts

Here is my new to me 1943 Tula m91/30 PU original refurb. Everything matches, the scope matches the reciever, the base matches the reciever, and all the other parts on the rifle itself match each other. The scope is a 1941 SVT-40 scope made at the "progress" factory in Leningrad that was recalibrated for the 91/30 as shown by the "CB" stamp on the top turret. A real piece of history. When I got it the scope still has its original wax paper, cosmo, and twine wrapping on everything including the leather which is in PERFECT condition, very supple! The lense caps even had paper and cotton balls to seal it so that the optics wouldnt fog up from sitting in the salt mines of the Ukraine. Thanks to RecessedFilter for taking the pics with his fancypants camera! Also, if any of you are interested let me know, there are more available! Now, on to the porn!

SWEET..... never been one for the big russian club/rifle, but that is sweet. Good find. It always makes me wonder what that rifle would do against a modern sniper rifle out to say 800m, in the hands of the same shooter. Take two warm up shots, then three for points with each.

That thing is SO mint!

Pics came out good, for me being a new photographer...but could be much better. I need to mess around more so they can come out reallyyyy nice!

Shoot in RAW mode on your camera. Then use a program for post processing to improve the color/white balance/exposure/etc.

Lunker, I dont collect safe queens. Its a shooter! I just wont be crawling through the mud with it or anything. Its a bench queen :icon_mrgreen:

Glad to hear it. I only have one gun I retired to my gun safe, my dad's Soviet SKS bring back he liberated from Viet Nam and gave to me. I have a Norinco Paratrooper for fun SKS blasting.

Everything else gets dragged out once in a while.

Comrade Glenn tells us about his conquest, brings pics of his bedroom beauty but fails to tell us how much dinner was for said beauty. In spirit of Glasnost, I believe we should hang Glenn, send what's left of body to Siberia (naked of course) and then take spoils off fake Kommunist for rest of forum to enjoy. :icon_twisted:

I have one as well and they are STUPID accurate and fun to shoot...

Was breaking clays with it and popping small balloons at 125 yards with NO PROBLEM...

Only thing I needed to do was work the mount a bit to make sure the crosshairs and scope image were more centrally aligned and calibrate the turrets...once done...voila...

Nice gun have fun with it....I sure do !

They are legit. A re-snipered rifle wont have the scope still wrapped up in cosmo/wax paper/cotton balls and a re-snipered rifle wont have the rifle scope and mount all matching each other(these arent force matched, either). There are a few topics on other forums about these and all arrows point to them being legit.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
