NJSP escorted race to AC?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm. And just how is that going to work in this situation? Call the idiots to report the idiots (same idiots) that are condoning this illegal activity? I can hear the NJSP laughing about the phone call now.....

Lucky for them I wasn't driving along there. I have been known to brake for unicorns crossing the road. Try to prove otherwise that I wasn't braking for an animal, after-all, the animal got off the road and out of harms way because I braked/swerved to miss it!

I perform the same services for the morons that think the little gold shield on their dashboard gives them the right to weave in and out of traffic.

My word against yours and 99.99999% of the time, you rear-end me, you are getting the ticket!

I can certainly understand your frustration with this incident, as we all are, however the actions you mentioned that you have performed are just as dangerous if not more so, than what they were doing. Besides, in a case like this one, they'd be scraping you off the highway if you were a**-ended at 100+ MPH. If you think your family would enjoy the insurance money and lawsuit money they'd receive moreso than having you in their lives, then good for you I guess. Please just don't pull a stunt like this with me and my family on the same highway as you.

Your not calling on the officers, your calling on the drivers. And once it becomes a documented incident, the fun is over no matter who may have been assisting. Your idea about potentially causing a crash to play highway commando judge and jury is plain stupid. WOO HOO the other guy gets a ticket and you get a crashed car. Yeah that sounds like a good plan. :gaming:

Tired of people that think they can get-away with anything they feel-like because they are either "connected" or think their money is greener than mine.

Instead of cops sitting clocking people they should DRIVE with traffic, much more usefull.

I'll take my chances with my truck, no one else in there with me. A new hitch and bumper is cheap, especially when the other a-hole is paying for it.

M4 its not that simple. Although I agree with a hatred of the notion of those that think they are above the law, I also wouldnt want the blood of the young couple and newborn that got killed on my hands because I decided to play highway vigilante gone wrong. As I am POSITIVE you know from your track experience how things can go ENTIRELY in a different direction than intended, you understand you cannot possibly predict everyone elses actiosn/reactions and unintended conequences once you set that ball in motion.

Nicely said and I totally agree. It does suck that power and money can get you whatever you want and get you out of any situation you get yourself into.

IF they had a police escort, why was there traffic for the cars to be weqving through? Normally when you see a police car with lights on coming up behind you you pull over and stop until it is passed you...

If you're doing 65-75 and a car comes up on you at 120mph you may not have much time to react. You can't just haphazardly switch lanes if there are other people on the road with you. That is part of what makes the situation dangerous.

Although I dislike what was done, I do have to wonder why this board always goes to the absurd and wants punishments outside the law.

Heck, I'd be happy to see the law enforced and some common sense workplace discipline.

The guys were using their company cars to conduct non company business and break the law. Give them the appropriate moving violations and probation for the theft of services.

Then, like a teacher who would buy booze for students, fire their asses. If they don't have the time in to secure their pensions, tough. If they were under duress from a superior, maybe cut them some slack and suspension without pay for a bit, a crap assignment for a while, and some unpaid community service.

What's outside the law? Most jobs would fire someone for improper use of company equipment. I've seen high level execs making millions a year get canned for having some porn on company laptops. These Troopers were possibly putting lives in jeopardy. They should know better. If by outside the law you mean outside the demands of the union, you may be onto something there. However, that would just be a prime example of how unions may have out lived their usefulness in certain areas.

They have time to bust the balls of legitimate gun owners, who are concerned about stopping to take a leak on the way home from the gun range, but yet they play chicken in traffic while, at the same time, escort a bunch of law-breaking, well-to-do, exotic car drivers who are covering their license plates in order not be be caught speeding and weaving through traffic. They put law-abiding citizens at grave risk. Fire 'em and charge all of the participants they can identify with the appropriate driving violations. Then go back and do the same thing for those who orchestrated previous year's runs. No room for double standards.

So why wasnt Corzine and crew suspended without pay??????? :D I guess there is a big diff between 91 and 100?

Of course, Corzine was able to drum up some "official business" to excuse away his driver's law-breaking behavior. He was in a Rush -- literally. Let me see ... he was on his way to Drumthwacket to meet with the nappy-headed hoes from Rutgers.

I wonder if the dash cameras were turned off? Aren't they supposed to record when the overheads are activated? If IA checks and finds nothing, that in and of itself is possibly tampering.......

And the Plot thickens........

That they do, they record speed as well. Though the video will be real shotty, I have seen some dash cams pulled and the vidoes get all digitalized at higher speeds. If they were on that would be great.

I didnt think they had the

ability to turn them off.

Usually there is a power button on the screen inside the vehicle that you have to turn off after one is normally done with their call/stop.

Yes, things can go wrong very quickly for sure. I'm not standing on the brakes at 100mph, or 80mph for that matter, on a public roadway.

IF someone flies-up on my a** and I am already going 10mph over the limit, they probably will not like my reactions. If they have others in the car, then those people should have warned them about their driving beforehand.

Police should be DRIVING with the traffic, not sitting reading magazines and once in awhile look-up at their radar units.

Why not just move out of the way? or are you that guy who does 65mph in the left lane on the parkway? Are you really just out to create road rage? The left lane is for passing you know, something everyone seems to forget. I think i just found a use for all the pennies in my car(sarcasm). I don't really see why you feel the need to do anything in this circumstance, doing nothing usually is what pisses me off the most.

Why is everyone so surprised. I drive a good amount and I have never ever seen a NJSP trooper driving under 80mph. I have seen them multiple times tailgating dangerously within 5 feet and then turning their lights on until the person moves over then continuing in excess of 80mph.

The bottom line is they know they are above the law and they get away with it.

In general the NJSP is hypocrisy at its finest.

It sucks to know that they get away with it and us lowly citizens will get a huge ticket for the same thing, but in the end I really don't care because they are below me so fudge em.

It must be a Northern-Jersey thing. If the Troopers are rolling at 80+ MPH here in south-Jersey, it's for a good reason. I'm sure there are bad ones out there, but on the whole, they're pretty stand-up guys/gals in my area.

if you're going 10mph over the speed limit on the left lane, then I have a problem with that. If you're in the center lane and I ride up your a$$ then that means there must be another a-hole on the left lane driving 10mph over the limit and thinking they're going fast enough.

There's apparently some new video of the actual incident.

http://www.news12.co...&news_type=news

Now in the video they are going faster than the other traffic but that's not even close to 120, well not unless the rest of the traffic was doing 90..

If I'm doing 10 over AND passing someone, the guy that flies up my a** can wait... If I lose sight of his headlights below my trunk lid, I may be inclined to ease off the gas a little bit too.

same here. to a T.

If im going 80 with the cruise control set, passing people and you still feel the need to ride my a**, you can wait back there.

What really bugs me is when people are riding your a** IN TRAFFIC. Like they are going to somehow get past it all.

If you're accelerating as you are trying to pass someone and your car can only go so fast when stepping on the gas, then that's acceptable. not everyone has a fast car. However, If you maintain a speed just fast enough to be slightly ahead of the car you are passing but slow enough so the guy behind you cannot pass then there's a problem too. ;)
