FID and permit in hand, now finding my gun

Recommended Posts

I just got my FID and permit which took about a month to get. I've decided to go with CZ 75B in matte stainless steel but willing to go with black if i wont be able to find in SS. This will be my first gun ever. Now onto finding my gun. Can I get any recommendations where to look or how to find one? I've found couple online stores but its on backorder everywhere.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Nice choice. I would love to have one of these, too. This is a hard gun to find, but an awesome one. You may want to look on Gunbroker. In particular, the limited one with night sights would be an awesome find. You may have a problem with finding one with only 15-round magazines. I think I like the brushed stainless more than the bright stainless.

I already sent a price request yesterday and only got one response back.

Like I said, it's a good place to start. I noticed if they can't get one, most times they don't respond. I know the prices aren't the best but, give Heritage Guild in Branchburg or Rahway a call, as well as Caso's in Jersey City.

I bought mine from CZ Customs but their stock is all back ordered till I believe December.Angus will swap out for 15 round mags at purchase but if you have no luck soon I would reserve one before his stock is all spoken for.

15 round mags are readily available at CZ USA and they have sales frequently, also CDNN Sports has 15 round CZ's original mags in stock for $24.99/each or Meggar 14 round mags for $19.99/each.

Good luck and you'll find it hard to find a better first gun.

You may want to take a look at the CZ-75SP01. This is a little different gun but I think it offers you a little more for about the same price. I have a 75b that I bought when I couldn't find an SP01 last year, now it seems the SP01's are around and the 75b's are tough to find. The 75b's only come as a 16+1 or 10+1, I have never even seen a 17 round mag for them. I have 15 rd and 10 rd mags. Mecgar makes 15 round mags for fairly cheap. When my permits come in I will be looking to add an SP01 to my safe. Also I think USPSA now accepts the SP01 in the production division.

The mags are the problem . From what i was told they only ship with 17 rounders then the ffl has to send the 17 back for 15 rounds

Check Heritage. If they have it in their PA store, they will ship it to the NJ store and swap out the mags for you. No charge for the shipping nor mag swap.

Guns and Ammo in Hackettstown had a CZ 75B glossy stainless in its shop. However, you would have to get 15-round magazines.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=CZ+75&osCsid=l3hc6mintoj9vshdb9hr7rj2k0&x=0&y=0 Best prices I've been able to find. And if you use Vinny as a FFL, your transfer fees will be the cheapest I've found in NJ.

What does Vinny charge and where is he? I use Lincoln Park True Value Hardware myself, although my last purchase was from Mike's in Fairview, NJ and I didn't have to pay transfer fees.

I never heard of Mikes, and I live so close to it. I'm trying to find the cheapest place near me in terms of transfer fees. (Bergen County)

Mike's Gun Shop on on Fairview Ave. http://www.jerseypolicesupply.com/Firearms.asp

Since I purchased from his inventory there was no transfer fee.

I was looking for a Glock 20 and Mike's participates in the GSSF program and had one in stock.

I saw a 85 Combat at their PA Store a while ago and had I not already picked up a low priced used 75B, I would have jumped on that.

+1 for the CDNN mags, no need to look for anything else. Mine came with a CA 10rd so these were great.

I'm just gonna leave these here...

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
