bootman 5 Posted August 3, 2017 Never owned a 1911 but I have always wanted one. Keep the pics coming. (and suggestions with pics for a good beginner model)
fatty 241 Posted August 3, 2017 that all depends on your budget
bootman 5 Posted August 3, 2017 True. I was looking at the Colt Competition models. So models within that same class.
fatty 241 Posted August 3, 2017 I'd take a hard look at the Dan Wesson PM series for a little more... I think the colt competition is around 800-900? The dan wesson PM series are around 1,100-1,200 ish but so worth it. you get hand fit components, tool steel fire control, and a superb trigger but all that might not be important to everyone. basically, you get a lot for your money vs an assembly-line production pistol. jrfly3006 42 Posted August 3, 2017 Nothing wrong with the Springfield MilSpec...US made..good shooter out of box..good base for any desired mods...in $800 rangeSent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

(and suggestions with pics for a good beginner model) A good beginner model would be a Rock Isl Armory - Imported but excellent quality for money. No, it's not a Dan Wesson but as a 1st 1911 you can't go wrong. Also - you can find some deals on Para USA (not Para Ordnance) floating around, and Remington has picked up the warranty responsibilities on the Para's so no problem with support......... Same level of quality after being acquired by CZ? ( not that CZ are not good quality but not hand made either)
fatty 241 Posted August 4, 2017 The consensus on 1911 boards, yes. You arent getting full custom attention to detail, but the fit and finish is the best in the pric range.

Rob0115 1,105 Posted March 25, 2018 Custom done by Garthwaite based on fusion firearms frame and slide. .400 CorBon. Yes I am a fan of odd calibers but another easy to load and enjoy round. Painted by DCS.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted March 25, 2018 A fun Kimber, that I made funner, after fitting a .460 Rowland setup in it. That's it with my .400 CorBon Garthwaite gun. It was odd caliber day at the range and this is what I brought with me. Actually I made that shit up. It wasn't odd caliber day at the range, but that didn't prevent me from having my own fun. The black is boring I may need to Cerakote it.
