302w 83 Posted June 12, 2015 When did Yuengling become commonly available in NJ? I am aware it didn't venture far from Pottsville until recently.
NJKen 23 Posted June 12, 2015 Maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Possibly even longer. Ken

Krdshrk 3,877 Posted June 12, 2015 i've been getting it for at least 8 or 9 years now. In certain spots even longer....
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted June 12, 2015 My guy at Main Liquors has had it for a decade or more. Local pubs have it on special for $2.50 a pint from 5-7pm. I went to the ORIGINAL Brewery in Pottsville for a FREE TOUR and a FREE TASTING! Very FUN! Bought a T-Shirt in the Gift Shoppe too!

WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot 358 Posted June 12, 2015 Also a large brewery in Tampa, FL open for tours. I've seen it in FL and NC since early the 2000's.
CMJeepster 2,778 Posted June 12, 2015 I smuggled cases to me best friend who was in the Navy and stationed in Pensacola in early September of 2001. I also took some to my cousins outside of Charlotte around 2003. I think tha I'm cosmically responsible for its spread!!!
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted June 12, 2015 I drove several cases of it to Iowa a couple years back. My son was able to trade it for all kinds of stuff. Even cases of home-made micro-brew his friends did! It's considered "snob beer" out there, CAUSE THEY CAN'T GET NONE, LOL! I've bought it as far west as eastern Ohio, in Hubbard, at the Shell gas station just off Rt. 80. I spoke with one of the Yuengling daughters at the Brewery and she mentioned they don't distribute much past eastern Ohio. The Yuenglings do a LOT of charity work (which they don't publicize). Some of it can be viewed at the Brewery Tour. Walls of plaques thanking them for all they've done. True Americana in my book, so I'll keep supporting them! Lalo 13 Posted June 12, 2015 Back in the early 2000's I found it at every bar and liquor store in south Jersey by the beach but never up north. Now It's everywhere.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted June 12, 2015 Talk about "importing" beer. I get Heady Topper from Vermont
CMJeepster 2,778 Posted June 12, 2015 Back in college, the Pennsylvanians (including me at the time) used to smuggle as much to RI as we could every time we came home for breaks.
Luke_WO 11 Posted June 12, 2015 Since at least 2011 when I turned 21. Haha. Never knew it wasn't available at any point before then. What a travesty.

RootSki 5 Posted June 12, 2015 Talk about "importing" beer. I get Heady Topper from Vermont Earlier this year, I traded a friend 8 Heady Toppers for a 1972 S&W Model 66 revolver.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted June 12, 2015 Earlier this year, I traded a friend 8 Heady Toppers for a 1972 S&W Model 66 revolver. Jebus - does that friend have any more guns for trade? I can supply him with heady...
RecessedFilter 222 Posted June 12, 2015 Heady doesn't leave Vermont, nonetheless the towns nearby I thought? It's overrated IMO but I also am not a huge fan of pale ales. I've been getting Yuengling in Jersey for a while. It's one of my go-to beers.
302w 83 Posted June 12, 2015 Thanks guys. I think it is funny that Yuengling wasn't available in NJ until recently. Talk about distribution..

I lost my gat piece 0 Posted June 12, 2015 I've seen it almost everywhere I've gone to drink in NJ over the past 10 years. This year I even had a friend who loves in San Francisco text me a picture of them serving it regularly in a local bar there.
RootSki 5 Posted June 12, 2015 Jebus - does that friend have any more guns for trade? I can supply him with heady... No, that was the first thing I asked him after we made the trade. I'll post some pics of it sometime. It's such a sweet looking revolver.

Golf battery 1,223 Posted June 13, 2015 Ive had it here for about 25 years now. Black and tan only. Yuengling is americas oldest brewery.
AS350Driver 56 Posted June 13, 2015 I have a way to get it I might be in touch with you. Trade for ammo, powder, cash? I've wanted to try Heddy for a while, see if it lives up to the hype. I finally got my hands on some Pliney the Elder, and it was very good.
Oakridgefirearms 224 Posted June 13, 2015 The first time I tried Yuengling was in the early 90's when I went to visit a guy I knew in Stroudsburg,PA. I had never heard of it before that. Shortly after that I went to a backwoods bar in Rockaway and they had it on tap. Within 2 or 3 years of that (mid 90's) I started seeing it all over the place in Northern NJ. I've seen it as far north as Albany, NY
checko 180 Posted June 13, 2015 Never had it till I moved to nj. Now I see it all over nyc and most places I go in the south. I'm drinking one or several now actually. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
