Scorpio64 5,161 Posted January 23, 2016 Has anyone been out on the road yet? The plow came through my street about an hour ago, which is unusual since my town waits till the end of the storm to clear roads. This means one of two things. The snow is about to stop (fat chance) or they expect a lot more and are getting ahead of it before it's too much to handle.

They're out clearing to make sure they can continue moving snow later.
T Bill 649 Posted January 23, 2016 A lot more is coming according to weatherman. Snow band is now just hammering away across all of NJ. DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia snow quantities now expected across NJ, NYC and LI. (1-2 feet) Early long range weather maps now show similar happening again next weekend as well, hopefully they are off, but time will tell. ENOUGH already, tractor clutch decided to act up, now without plowing capabiltiies as well. If I survive this crap, I'm moving south, had enough. Land of CCW and no mag/gun restrictions here I come! mipafox 438 Posted January 23, 2016 I'm getting mixed messages. I am getting between 6 to 26 inches of additional snow. And it's falling at 3" per hour now. This crap is rediculous. Enough!
Displaced Texan 11,757 Posted January 23, 2016 I've done my first snowblower pass of the neighborhood. Normally, my next door neighbor and I do 'dueling snowblowers, he takes one side of the street and I take the other. This year, his machine is OOC, so it's on me. Making cornbread and heating up chili.

Rt 38 and Rt 130 not bad at all, county roads had been plowed but were in need of another pass. Town roads were hit or miss.
carl_g 568 Posted January 23, 2016 I'm afraid to go out in this disaster. Is the Eastern Yeti extinct? Shawn? LOL! State of emergency does not affect LTCF holders correct?

Malsua 1,422 Posted January 23, 2016 I'm currently under the heavy band of snow and as far as I can tell the plow hasn't been through in 3 hours or so. The police in my town have stated that a state of emergency exists and to stay off the roads. I may go wander around a bit on foot, just to get a feel for it. Scorpio64 5,161 Posted January 23, 2016 Around here there is about 2" after the plow passed about 2 hours ago. We are dug out and I dug out two neighbors as well. I'm going to take a ride around the block. I really REALLY need to test out the AWD on my new (to me) Subaru.

InFamous 311 Posted January 23, 2016 Subaru with good tires will go through almost anything. I'm definitely in the band of heavy snow right now. I can't even see the woods about 30 yards away. We were at 21" of snow about 45 minutes ago compared to 13" at 11:15am, I'm gonna check again probably at 6. Averaging 2" an hour and probably more now. mipafox 438 Posted January 23, 2016 I have a 4 foot wall around my house. That is due to drifting, but it's still a 4 foot wall I have to deal with. Supposedly we have 21 inches and quite a bit more comming. I live on a main county road and snowmobiles are racing up and down the road. No cars at this point. Saw a couple quads earlier, but I guess they gave up.

Dunno about it going through anything, it's only about 6" off the road. Talking about cars that would go through anything. My mom had a 64 Caddy Eldorado, front wheel drive. My dad used to plow through three foot drifts in that thing. He called it the Juggernaut.

The snow is practically over his head. It's like you walking in 5 feet of snow. I'm calling the SPCA on you.

Poor little feller never had a chance. I actually did shovel it a few hours ago, you can see the futility of it.

302w 83 Posted January 23, 2016 I might gear up in my M65 pants and walk my dog for the fun of it soon. I tried having him drag me on a sled but it didn't work.
T Bill 649 Posted January 23, 2016 Twenty-one (21) inches and still snowing. Snowmobile and quads are the transportation of the day. My son responded to a fire call on his snowmobile. Two foot plus drifts in front of the doors to the firehouse. I have two houses to do and cannot even get one done today. Hopefully a better day tomorrow. voyager9 3,437 Posted January 24, 2016 We were forecast in the 17-23 range but I don't think we have that. I cleared the driveway around 11 and had about a foot then. If anything we are at the low end of that range. Still had fun with the family and dogs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Silence Dogood 468 Posted January 24, 2016 At least 24" here in central NJ - we might hit 30" by morning. Did a complete blowing today because trying a full 30" tomorrow would be nuts.
