Branrob91 0 Posted May 7, 2017 I saw that Gander Mountain has their liquidation sale going on, and I have some gift cards to use. Was wondering if anyone knew any info on their sales going on. I'm planning on going Tuesday. Do their sales include firearms and ammo? I'm thinking of getting a new shotgun. Thanks for any leads guys. Such a shame to see them go. Maksim 1,504 Posted May 7, 2017 Use cards asap. Set number of days as per bk agreement to use them.
T Bill 649 Posted May 7, 2017 Everything is for sale. No hold backs. Just be prepared when it comes to pricing. Even with giant discounts, prices will be about normal. Infamous marketing gimic. But, if you have gift cards, better buy something.
kman 56 Posted May 9, 2017 I went there on Saturday this past weekend, guns and ammunition were not discounted at all. Everything else was 10-15% off. Not worth the trip - 10-15% off on ordinary inventory is about what such stuff costs online anyhow. The guy behind the gun counter said they are not discounting guns or ammunition "at this time". He wouldn't answer whether they would discount it in the future. As per usual, spent an hour waiting for my number to come up to deal with a salesman behind the gun counter, because the place is hardly staffed at all. Probably as time goes on they will discount more, but at least as of Saturday last weekend it wasn't worth the trip.
siderman 1,138 Posted May 9, 2017 Just saw gift cards good until 5/18- thats next week so get 'er done!
HBecwithFn7 296 Posted May 9, 2017 Apparently, not all Gander Mountain stores are closing! There are three here in FL that will remain open, and several in other states (none in NJ). One of these is only 1.5 hours away from me. See this article from al.com (Alabama equivalent of nj.com).
kman 56 Posted May 10, 2017 BTW the location that I was talking about in my earlier post is the Middletown NY one up Route 17.

AverageJoe 95 Posted May 14, 2017 Did you go yet? I went the other day, they didn't have much...way overpriced ammo and firearms still...grabbed 2 cases of 12g to bust clays...Cashier was like heres your card you have 87 cents left, told him to throw it out and bounced. Sevenshot 98 Posted May 14, 2017 I haven't heard of anyone getting any deals yet.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted May 14, 2017 I have used them in a pinch for reloading supplies. But muther effer are they expensive there. I'm not sure that even with a sale it'll be very good pricing.
AverageJoe 95 Posted May 14, 2017 Really the only good thing they ever had were mini mags...thats literally the only thing I ever ordered from them.
Branrob91 0 Posted May 19, 2017 Thanks for the tips, saw they have an up to 40% discount on products, debating whether it's worth it to head on up there today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Keep in mind, the general liquidition plan is.... first raise the prices some and offer a small discount. (while it is still news and people come in looking for a deal). Once the big discounts come.... they come quick and sharp to get rid of inventory before final days.... so if they are 40% off now, would go now while there is still good stuff to be had.
Branrob91 0 Posted May 19, 2017 Yeah exactly, that's what I was thinking. Better to get now rather than later.
Indianajonze 379 Posted June 27, 2017 my understanding is that the middletown ny one is one of the stores staying open after the shakedown
HBecwithFn7 296 Posted June 27, 2017 Ocala FL is going down. i went by there the other day and the "Going out of business" banner was flying tall.
Indianajonze 379 Posted July 1, 2017 well apparently the powers that be have had a change of heart. middletown location is not re-emerging. it's closing forever
NJGF 375 Posted July 1, 2017 Here is a list of 57 stores to be kept open as of June 29: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DDhJ-IcVwAAW3DI.jpg:large

I wonder if that's just to have a sale for the sake of seizing the opportunity to have a sale....

The sign doesn't mean that the store will necessarily close. Go figure. Maybe it was a negotiating tactic to extract lower rents. Who knows.
Branrob91 0 Posted August 8, 2017 Does anyone know or been to the Warrington, PA location? That one or Scranton? I was thinking of checking it out, but I'm not sure if they're closing/taking part in the sales.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted August 8, 2017 I was at the Scranton one about 2 months ago - yes, it was closing and there wasn't that much left when I was there... No clue what's left.
Branrob91 0 Posted August 8, 2017 Thanks for the update. Trying to figure out whether or not Warrington is worth my time. HahaSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted August 8, 2017 If you're in Woodbridge, I doubt it. I was out near Scranton for another event and went in - about half the store was empty. The "deals" weren't great - they may be better now. The only thing that was worth it for me was a Beretta shotshell bag for $15 after discount... Branrob91 0 Posted August 8, 2017 Yeah that's what I was thinking. I had gone to Scranton a while ago and the deals were ok, but not worth it entirely.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think what is happening is that Gander Mountain as a company is closing and a new store will re-open as the combined Gander Mountain/Camping World store in the same locations. Happens a lot in mergers where the weaker company is liquidated and then shutdown. The left over assets/debts are transferred to the new company. They are probably using it as a way to get quick cash to pay off Gander Mountain's debts before shutting down the old company so Camping World takes on less debt in their acquisition. Just a guess though... -Jim
