What does everyone do for a living?

Recommended Posts

I'm a Manufacturing Programmer Analyst . I'm also a "whatever needs to be done" guy with PCs, Macs, *nix boxes, networking or servers.

My main specialty I suppose is writing front end applications for hardware but I also help design and build equipment.

Sole IT person for a manufacturing Company.

Lots of us IT guys here.

I was noticing that. Dunno if there's something scarey about that.

Just be glad they're not Postal workers.

It's an interesting observation. I know a lot of the other IT guys I've worked with over the years have had at least a passing interest in guns. I don't particularly advertise that I have guns, but if it eventually comes up, I've never gotten the typical "what do you need that for?" from IT guys.

that's because most IT guys are fairly open minded.

And just a bit..off. I'm no exception.

I'm debating framing ken's pic of me with his mossberg and hanging it prominently in my office, just to see the effect.

LOL I printed out the 4 firearms safety rules and thumbtacked it to a wall in my cube :D Oddly enough, no one has ever made a single comment about it

bah, that's way to subtle.

 it might've been if the copy I printed out didn't have the tactical response logo on it

Gee, you don't suppose that IT guys are at computers often, happen to know how to search and aren't shy about joining forums?

that makes it sound like all non-IT folk are old coots who think you need cheese for your mouse..

Sounds like you're describing the other half of the forum.

I work for the US Army at Picatinny Arsenal.

I got a few job offers in various divisions at Picatinny after I graduated from college with a MechE degree (I know 5 or 6 guys that work there currently as civilian engineers). I ended up going into real estate instead but I often regret the decision to turn down those jobs. I currently work for a large construction manager / developer in NYC.

Sales V.P. for a large insurance and financial services company...dont let the V.P. title fool you, I still carry a quota and get out and sell everyday...to fund ammo and hunting trips disguised as vacations so the wife stays happy while I run off with a gun after some animals...

Service Tech for Ingersoll Rand. I service, repair and maintain Industrial Class Air Compressors upto 500HP and Moisture Obsorbtion Systems using either Dessicant or Refrigerent upto 5000CFM.

How far will you travel? I have 10 compressors that I need monthly service on. They are in Freehold, Marlboro, Old Bridge and Oakhurst. They all have moisture absorbent systems as well as automatic drains on timers and moisture jars at each drop (approx 50 at each location). I don't know the name of the company that we use now, but I'd rather give a member here the business, if you are interested.
