I wasn’t thinking about buying a new gun. Really. It just kinda…happened. There I was, at GT Distributors, minding my own business, when out of nowhere, came this police trade in Glock 19.. $309, with 3 mags! I mean, I couldn’t NOT buy it, it was so cheap! That’s how I explained it to Mrs Tex, anyway. Now it’s dressed up as a clone of my carry gun.

This mindset baffles me. Shooting is a depreciating skill. If you don't practice, you will become worse at it. If you value your life enough to want to defend it, why would you rely on a skill that you don't practice? If the best I can do on a good day is scrape a pass on CCARE, I would be determined to get better at shooting - and yes I did see that you scored 98% - but your attitude appears to be that you shouldn't have to practice first. Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you mean that the government should not mandate that you have to meet any kind of standard before you can carry. I agree. There should not be any mandated quals. However, only a fool would be carrying a gun he can't use effectively. It does little to protect himself and creates a danger to everyone else because the misses will go on to hit something or someone after they miss the intended target.

I have a like new (only zeroed) PSA Sabre KAC M110 Clone in 7.62x51mm. This is PSA's clone version of the infamous Knights Armament M110. Very high quality, excellent 2 stage trigger, 20" chrome lined barrel, adjustable gas block, and is NJ legal with a pinned Surefire SOCOM muzzle brake. Radian Raptor charging handle and Radian ambi safety. Upper and lower are billet receivers compatible with all KAC SR-25 and LMT MWS/MARS-H pattern receivers. Im no where close to being a long range shooter but ive been able to get 0.7 MOA out of it with 175gr federal gold medal match ammo and Im sure the rifle is capable of much better accuracy. Asking $1650 (which is a steal for what you get) at any FFL thats a reasonable distance from Jersey City. I can also ship but that would be on your dime. Optic/bipod etc not included but can be purchased if interested. Vortex Razor Gen-II HD 3-18x50 FFP with the new EBR-7C MRAD illuminated reticle in a 1.54 reptilia mount. I can't say for sure because the apparent buyer did not follow forum rules by declaring "I'll take it" Though you were the first to express interest by asking the seller to PM you, it is likely you were overlooked because of your low (zero actually) post count and did not send a PM directly. The reason for the post count condition to send PMs is to eliminate bot generated spam and phishing schemes. If you want to make life easier, you will have to create or respond to a few threads outside the for sale thread. In other words, join the conversation. It's been over a year and you have made 36 posts all in the WTS thread, with zero posts anywhere else. The alternative is to become a paid member. I don't think there is a post count requirement for premier members. NJGF is a gun forum where we mostly talk about guns n shit, and only occasionally sell guns n shit. It's not a want ad site. If you do not plan on participating in the community, even at a minimal level, you should probably just become a paid member.

OK let me explain. If you use your 9MM to qualify you will probably need to practice before you qualify so you go through 125 rds of ammo. Using expensive 9mm ammunition that's probably close to $0.40 around is costly. If you used your .22 LR pistol the price drops to less than 10 cents a round. I easily qualified with my Glock 226 ( 1 miss out of 50) but burned up a lot of ammo practicing. We should not be required to qualify to exercise a constitutional right and it should not cost a few hundred dollars to do so.

Sunday May 5th 2024 Don't get caught with your pants down. Practice now. Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots go until at least 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to stop in at any time and join the party. As always, these clay shoots are informal gatherings, just plain good fun to promote shooting sports and encourage training. Please feel free to bring friends and family. Shooters of all experience are welcome, if you have never shot clays before, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that shotgun sitting in a dark corner of your closet and gain some needed experience. What you will need. Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Targets (ie. clay pigeons) are available at Solomon's Shooter Supply in Farmingdale. Some Walmarts carry targets. Sadly, Shooters, as we knew it, is closed and has become Shooters Hardware, relocated to 218 Main St, West Creek, NJ, 08092. Don't forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink. I will be bringing an automatic trap machine, if you have a thrower, please bring it as a backup or second station. If you don't have a shotgun and just want to see what clay shoot'n is all about, a loaner shotgun will be available. For those who plan on shooting rifles, you must have a firearms hunting license, or be on the rifle range with someone that has a license. I've been messing around lately trying to figure out the usefulness of hand held radios. Realistically without a repeater expect 0.5-1.0miles in typical terrain (houses, trees, mountains). Unless you have completely unobstructed view and no interference (mountain top to mountain top, over water, etc) , you aren't going to get multiple mile range. Using a repeater, you can probably go up to 25 miles. This really depends on where the repeater is located and if your radio can reach it. Because repeaters are usually on top of mountains with large antennas and lots of power, you can usually be able to hear them. To be able to have 2 way communication with someone your radio needs to be able to reach the repeater. Because they are up higher with larger antenna's it is easier for your radio to reach them at greater distances. For example, you may not be able to reach someone 2 miles away in simplex mode (same channel, direct communication, no repeater), but could talk to them if you use a repeater 10 miles away. The challenge is find repeaters in your area that you and the party you want to communicate with can reach and use. There are many sites that list repeaters: (note that unless you have a digital radio, you cannot use digital repeaters, so just look for FM repeaters. MyGMRS.com (requires payment to get the tone info, but you can use a scanner to find them. see below) RepeaterBook.com - NJ RadioReference.com - NJ ARRL.org (uses RFinder.net) - requires subscription I found the RepeaterBook phone app to actually work well. Unfortunately I've found that they are woefully not up to date. Many either aren't working, aren't used, or even though they should be in range, apparently I am not. Also I have found (by using a scanner) that there are many that aren't even listed. The best way I've found to see what is actually in range is to use a good scanner (a real one, not the scanning feature of your Baofeng). You will need one that can detect CTSS/DCS tones. Repeaters use these codes to open up the channel and rebroadcast your input. Without these codes, even if you transmit on their input frequencies they will not repeat. Basically in order to use a repeater, you need to know their transmit (TX) frequency, receive frequency (RX, usually listed as either a + or - offset from the the repeaters transmit frequency), and their RX CTSS Tone or DCS Code. Some repeaters do not use tones or codes and so their tone/code will be listed as CSQ. Once you find the repeaters and their receive offset and tones, you can program them in your radio with the CHIRP (or similar) software.
