Ok...all I have for my first rifle is a factory S&W M&P 15 with a truglo red dot sight. It looks so plain next to some of the guns here! I would upoad a picture, but the site I used to use to host pics is no longer working. In any event, went to the range with it for the first time today and zeroed it. What a blast to shoot!

This is my first AR, and the first gun i've purchased. It took me just over an hour to take it from a parts kit with completed upper to a complete function-checked AR-15, timed it so i could see how long it took. The only mishap was that the infamous pivot pin detent launched itself into the great unknown in my living room; a couple of spares are on order from Midway. I don't plan on shooting the rifle until i get that in place. I had bought a used Crane stock from another forum i frequent; the guy is an active-duty USMC and had brought the stock back from the Sandbox. Overall, i'm HUGELY satisfied with building my own AR-15. Parts list is below the pictures for anyone who is interested.

I love this thread. Seeing mags I made in so many places just makes me all warm 'n fuzzy :)

You are probably going to see a few more. I really had no idea where I would go about finding these untill I joined and looked through this thread. I just have to find out how many a few friends want and whether they want the 15 rounders fixed in the 20 or 30 rd body.

My suggestion, get the new 30 round chopped stubbies. =)

Nice, and I like that you pinned the stock at a more useful length!

Thanks! I thought so. Unless you do nothing but shoot from a bench, or are tiny, I don't understand the 2 extremes. This allows me to shoot comfortably standing, and when I was shooting off of bags to sight her in, had no problems either.

as he says..............

11b1p- are you the guy we met at tonys 2 weeks ago?

I don't believe so I have not been out much the past month, other than job interviews.

That Eotech looks like it has laughed back at death a few times and came out on top.

More like going for nice uneventful drives for one tour and then getting its paint beaten off while riding the bus to work at Balad for its second.
