Herters Ammo

Anyone ever use HERTERS AMMO from Cabelas ??? Its so darn cheap and the reviews on atleast the 45 cal are good , just wonderin what the consensus on here was ....

I have put ~2000 rounds of .45 through my 1911 without a single failure. Every time it goes on sale, I buy a can.

I prefer the brass case over the steel case, but it depends on the firearm. My 47 clone doesn't give a hoot, while one of my pistols does.

my mak 90 loves the stuff...as does my springfield 1911...cheap and it works great.

Yes , both 55gr and 62gr , no problems with the Saiga.

 

It`s Wolf/Tula/Ulyanovsk packaged for Cabela`s under the brand Herter`s. Usually they charge 2$ above the Tula prices and when they have a sale its the same price.

Herters in 10mm is a great value and is great ammo.

I like steel cased stuff better than Remington UMC or WWB, never had an issue using herters or wolf in 9mm or 45acp. Now, 223 on the other hand, is a whole different story.

I just bought a few boxes of it in .45 acp last weekend. I saw on the side of the box it said made by sellier and the other box said made and boxed by Fiocchi.

I would buy it in 40cal. all the time till I changed ranges and now can only fire brass. Was great for the price and Cabelas usually threw in a free ammo canister too.

i just bought 200 rounds of .223 for 4.50 a box. I'm sure the saiga will eat it fine

you will probably not have any problems in handgun ammo if you're ok with steel....most ar manufacturers frown on steel and some will void your warranty if you use it.

Herters is re-branded TULA. Just check the headstamps.

I second the motion. Herters is most likely to be mfg in Mother Russia. Can you say Tula factory?

 

Cabelas at times sells steel 308WIN for <$.50 a round (Hamburg store right now) and 762x39 for $.20 a round (you must call them). Pretty good deals.

 

I am not promoting steel but you have a real good name, Hornady, selling steel 762 (SST?) and various steel match ammo. I would trust their products. Can the gun mfg tell which flavor you were using?

I have used the herters .223 and 7.62x39 and .308 come to think of it. It all runs just fine.

Herters runs fine in my saigas, my AR on the other hand jammed a round every 4 or 5 shots with herters
