Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted January 21, 2011 Part of it is safety, part of it is greed. People who are overzealous about picking-up their brass sometimes tend to crawl forward of the firing line. Huge liability involved in owning a public range. Of course, greed is a pretty efficient motivator also.

Shane45 807 Posted January 21, 2011 Bob is absolutely correct and my answer assumed everyone understood brass in front of the firing line is in no mans land. I should have been clearer.

Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted January 21, 2011 Somerset county fish and game... Infact, you are not only enocuraged to take your brass but you can sift through the brass bucket too
ronhonda 86 Posted January 21, 2011 Bulleshite! Every range that I have gone too, I have taken my brass. Grab a broom and sweep your brass to a "safe" area. If they won't let you ask for a refund. Now when I am at outdoor matches I leave my brass on the range for whoever wants it.
tony357 386 Posted January 21, 2011 before i shoot i sweep their brass out of my way, i pick up what is under my feet as i shoot then sweep it up when i am done.. If they want the brass they can kindly pay for it before i shoot..
Sigman 41 Posted January 22, 2011 I pick my brass up all the time at Bullet Hole and haven't had a problem. On the Tuesday night shoots I have left with bags. Are you taking other peoples brass or crawling under the counter onto the range?
e80hydro 120 Posted January 22, 2011 If you go out to Sunset Hill in Tannersville PA, there's empty shell casings everywhere, shooting bays, shithouse, parking lot.

sig2009 3 Posted January 24, 2011 I put my reloads in the original box with same headstamp if I am ever unlucky enough to shoot at a place like that. They will never know the difference.

Krdshrk 3,878 Posted January 24, 2011 Never had a problem with brass at BH or Bayonne. I think if you buy ammo from bayonne, they want the brass, as it was theirs in the first place.... that's all.
YankeeFan 49 Posted January 24, 2011 People who are overzealous about picking-up their brass sometimes tend to crawl forward of the firing line. That's kind of hard to do at Bayonne...you'd have to crawl OVER the partition...kinda like someone did a while ago when they dropped a box of ammo over the side...not sayin' who. Once you buy it isn't it now technically yours? It's not like you are buying the primer, powder, and bullet and renting the brass.

Damn right bro, 410 buckshot is friggen expensive! A 5 gallon bucket of brass cases is worth anywhere between 80 and 110 bucks. A 5 gallon bucket of aluminum cases is worth anywhere between 20 and 30 bucks. A 5 gallon bucket of steel cased ammo is worth anywhere from 10 to 15 bucks. You figure the Bullet Hole has 5 buckets at one time always full of that stuff, and that is a nice chunk of change they make. Take your brass home gentleman, metal is money!
