Also, if you have been fingerprinted before for firearms in NJ (most of us since we had to get them done for FPIC & PtPP, but maybe not for non-res applications) you don't need to be fingerprinted again for initial applications either.
This is true.
Unless you have a permit issued by a judge that includes an order stating you can only carry listed pistols. If you have a judge issued court order attached to your permit approval, you must abide by that order, or petition the judge to amend/drop the order.
If anyone does have an attached court order, when you renew your permit through your local PD, the order will expire and your new permit will not have any restrictions on what you can carry.
Also - according to NJSP you do NOT have to get fingerprinted for renewals.
