New from Cherry Hill

Recommended Posts

My name is David and I live near the Brookfield section of Cherry Hill. I haven't had much experience around guns aside from a handful of trips to the range, though I am headed Bob's on Tuesday with a buddy from work.

My interests lie mainly with rifles, specifically the M-16/M-4/AR-15 family and its derivatives as well as WW1/2 weapons.

If I can convince the other members of the house to let me have a rifle or two I will probably join either SJSC or Range 14 so I can get some much better rates on range time than going to Hague's, which is the only public rifle range I've found nearby. Before I can do that though I have to get my FID, which I am in the process of doing. Is it correct that the CHPD sends a questionnaire to your next of kin? If so that seems to be a clear violation of 2C:58-3f...

Welcome to the forum from Toms River. Unfortunately, some town take it upon themselves to augment the required forms with some arbitrary forms of their own, a clear violation of NJSP protocols and our 2nd Amendment rights. The consensus is that sometimes these are additional stalling tactics in an already not very gun friendly state. Most have no recourse but to comply. Welcome to New Jersey.

Welcome to the forum.

One option for you is to do what I do: Join Ft. Dix and then go into Philly and join either Firing Line or Philadelphia Archery and Gun. You can get to both clubs about as fast as you can get to Hagues and they are both open late, so if you work, you haev more time to shoot. I know Hagues closes at 8:00.

As far as I know, Cherry Hill doesn't send a letter to your next of kin. They only send a letter to your spouse if you are married or separated. What is your living situating like? Are you younger and living with parents? Older and married?

PM me if you want. I'm probably going to Firing Line in Philly tomorrow and you are free to meet me there if you want to shoot.

welcome from Moorestown/Cinnaminson area. We go to Pistol people over the bridge on state road and classic pistol in Southampton. CP is better(one of th ebest in this area) but a little drive(about 35 minutes) South Philly gun and archery is nice but expensive cause you have to buy their ammo and the guys watch you like hawks but its very nice place(horrible for parking though)

Welcome, David!

I'm in the Woodcrest section of Cherry Hill and also a noob. Interested more in pistols, though.

I filed my paperwork about two weeks ago after waiting two weeks to get FP'd. My wife and both of my references were sent forms from CHPD which had to be notorized. It took the CHPD a few days to send out the forms. When I dropped off my paperwork the woman behind the big glass windows said it would take "about a month" to be processed and that they would call me. We'll see.

Once I've got my permits maybe we can meet up and go shooting somewhere.

Good luck.

Richard

I've been going to Firing Line in Philly for the past 2 weeks. Probably going to go there again tomorrow and join. $100 for the year, no range fee, $10 rental, have to use their ammo, which isn't a problem for me until I go buy something. Even so, $3.50 for a box of .22 isn't horrible, and I can afford to go once a week.

Once I get my FID and a weapon, I'll be looking for an outdoor range, especially if I do get a centerfire rifle. Probably either Fort Dix or SJSC, since they are the closest.

I'm supposed to get fingerprinted tomorrow, but I was stupid at work a few days ago and was rewarded with a 1.5" long, 1/16" deep cut on my thumb... Tried to grab a box when I dropped it, cardboard cuts are nasty. Hopefully they still take me.

Welcome from Stratford! I actually own a VZ24, which is the Czech version of the Mauser K98k (some differences, fairly minor from what I've seen) When you get all squared away, you can try shooting it sometime haha.

Welcome, I am from the brookfeild section of Cherry HIll as well. I just picked up my ID card this week, submitted my paper work on November 12 and my permits were signed off on January 20th. I have shot at Bob's a few times and also Philadelphia Archery and gun(lived in Philly before here). I loved the facilities in Philly and the guys were really nice, the pricing was a little steep but given it is in a city that is expected. Bob's is more reasonable but a little more dated. I am most likely making Bob's my home range just due to cost.
