What is this thread about? I don't even understand it.

Ostriches I think. Not sure why it has caused such an uproar though. My thread of a similar topic didn't fair as well.

I'm pretty sure it's about an ostrich.

Ah! You beat me too it. So glad I wasn't the only one thinking that!

you may want to reconsider where you get your news and how you research things and possibly view happenings. Go ahead and call me an ostrich for sticking my head in the sand but the tension level you created around on this board is way too high..

I can't and won't speak for you, but I listened to the Assembly Hearing, and I watched the Assembly vote, and so I heard and saw with my own eyes and ears how these proposed laws were rammed through.

I saw what they did in NY.

Christie may veto this stuff if it gets past the Senate...who knows.

The point remains that it shouldn't have ever gotten that far.

So, if you chose to stick your head in the sand, that is your perogative. I don't judge you.

What is this thread about? I don't even understand it.

Not sure what your motivation for your post was - sounds like you wanted to get flammed...The country is going down the toilet fast...Cheeze look at what that Barbarian in NYS just passed...The media is controlled by the left wing more so now then ever. The political propaganda machine is running 24X7 - now on even more distribution channels...There is alot to get excited about...In fact, part of the reason things have got so bad is that decent people havn't got excited enough...Read "Bullies" by Ben Shaparo - maybe it will snap you out of "it".

Among other things that left him uncomfortable, the OP has an axe to grind with a thread of mine... Washington's Relation to We the People.

Is that YOU Charles??? Thats not what I'd call "Big Booties", but I'm fellin' it Bro....

No, I'm not Charles, but like you, I'm an ass man as well and those asses are a bit too flat for my taste. But a womans ass is a womans ass. Plus, I laughed my ass off the first time I saw it. I thought this thread needed something to smile and laugh at. :)

Did not mean to upset the big guy. However, if there is any top-down organization in this government, its hard to come to any other conclusions.

Hey, we espouse freedoms. The least we can do is understand each other. Lack of understanding is what we get from our opponents.

There's threats of armed revolt. And writing letters. There are people enough for both. Last thing we need is rage against each other. How about taking out some frustration posting on cryan's fb page?

Axe,

Wake up and smell the coffee! Do you see any pattern occurring? In 1938, the same conditions prevailed.....devide the populace(arian vs Jew who were successful businessmen)......control the media.......establish a small "armed" band to "occupy" local demonstrations......convince the arians that they should take from the successful.....regulate public through fear and violence...then confiscate arms.

Similar divisions occurred in Rome years before when corruption overwhelmed the good people. History repeats itself when the populace are too complacent to learn from previous tyrants.

The issue today is that "gun control" is being promoted instead of "crime control". Persecuting successful "earners" and restricting their rights will only imbolden the criminal actors.

Your counsel here is well-intended, however you could benefit more from some of the wisdom shared by the many here on the forum.

Ya know, I was just gonna say Yowza to this photo till I put my glasses on. Looks like a dude in a bikini... ick!

Anyway, this whole thread got out of hand and off on tangents. I know what the OP meant but maybe it should have been let go because nobody or not everybody will be told to calm down and smell the coffee...

I can only speak for myself and I hope others will concur. (I too am guilty with frustration and get off topic once in awhile, but I'm starting to slowly real myself in and it's hard)............

By nature, I can be a hot head, there is no doubt. But luckily for me and others, I also can calm down in 5 mins. Took me a long time to catch my breath over the years and learn composure.

On that note, I read through all these threads and I get irate... One day I wanted to punch my screen. Took 2 steps back and decided to go play some Texas Hold'em to calm down.

The problem is we all know to not get complacent. But we need to step away from these forums once in awhile. I take medication to keep my blood pressure down and it is hard when I was constantly reading and reading.

So I don't come here constantly. I go about my daily rut and stay the hell out of here once in awhile. You cannot keep hammering on yourself because you will give yourself a heart attack and I'm not ready for that yet!

Try to refrain responding to every post. I've noticed dozens of redundant original posts wearing different masks and people keep responding to them angrily after responding to several others. Often with ALL the same response of frustration.

I'm not trying defend anyone here nor the OP... But if you read through every post in this thread, you can see how far off subject things can go. Yes, we are all pissed, yes, we know what we are up against, at least I hope we do by now. But the best thing you can do is, step away from this forum once in awhile, grab a brew if you are able to do so... take a deep breath... Come back and read all the while counting to 10 if you feel frustrated. You'll add years to your life. The 2A problem is not the only problems we have in life. it's just one more hurdle we need to hop.

SO, do not be complacent. Partake anyways you can. Refrain from flaming, arguing and biotching and try to keep composure all the while, you continue to educate us or yourself and come up with viable game plans... We are all here for the same reason I hope and when we all tend to agree on most things, it's ok to not agree with everything. But not being constructive will not help.

:) Cheers!

So I say we lock this topic down and end it with this photo... 'Merica!

I'm pretty sure I saw this around here somewhere, but to those who dont think any gov't could turn on its people, just read this. Then tell me you don't see these things happening here.... Like I mentioned before, history tends to repeat itself especially when we as a people refuse to learn from it. Frankly, I don't understand how some can be so blind.... Just look at the liberties we've lost since 9/11, starting with the "Patriot Act". I love how they use words like "patriot" to strip us of our rights, and some of us are too stupid to see how we are systematically being raped. (Not calling anyone specific stupid.)

December 22, 2012 - “What I am about to tell you is something you’ve probably never heard or read in history books,” she likes to tell audiences.

“I am a witness to history.

“I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history.

If you remember the plot of the Sound of Music, the Von Trapp family escaped over the Alps rather than submit to the Nazis. Kitty wasn’t so lucky. Her family chose to stay in her native Austria. She was 10 years old, but bright and aware. And she was watching.

“We elected him by a landslide – 98 percent of the vote,” she recalls.

She wasn’t old enough to vote in 1938 – approaching her 11th birthday. But she remembers.

“Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.”

No so.

Hitler is welcomed to Austria

“In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unem- ployed. We had 25 percent inflation and 25 percent bank loan interest rates.

Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were go- ing from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs.

“My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people – about 30 daily.’

“We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933.” she recalls. “We had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living.

Austrian girls welcome Hitler

“Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group – Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone in Germany was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back.

“Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

“We were overjoyed,” remembers Kitty, “and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and

everyone was fed.

Austrians saluting

“After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

“Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn’t support his family. Many women in the teach- ing profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been re- quired to give up for marriage.

“Then we lost religious education for kids

Poster promoting "Hitler Youth"

“Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school.. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler’s picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn’t pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang ‘Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles,’ and had physical education.

“Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail.”

And then things got worse.

“The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free.

“We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.

“My mother was very unhappy,” remembers Kitty. “When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn’t do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun – no sports, and no political indoctrination.

“I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing.

A pro-Hitler rally

“Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time, unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler.

“It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn’t exposed to that kind of hu- manistic philosophy.

“In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn’t work, you didn’t get a ration card, and if you didn’t have a card, you starved to death.

“Women who stayed home to raise their families didn’t have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.

“Soon after this, the draft was implemented.

Young Austrians

“It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps,” remembers Kitty. “During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys.

“They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines.

“When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat.

“Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.

“When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately es- tablished child care centers.

“You could take your children ages four weeks old to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, seven days a week, under the total care of the government.

“The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.

“Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna..

“After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything.

“When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full.

“If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the med- ical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.

“As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80 percent of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families.

“All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.

“We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables.

“ Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because peo- ple might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands.

“Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

“We had consumer protection, too

Austrian kids loyal to Hitler

“We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, and then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.

“In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps. The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated.

“So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good man- ual work.

“I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van.

“I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months.

“They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.

“As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.

“Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long afterwards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.

“No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

“Totalitarianism didn’t come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.”

“This is my eye-witness account.

“It’s true. Those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity.

“America is truly is the greatest country in the world. “Don’t let freedom slip away.

“After America, there is no place to go.”

I am back....

Original idea was to stay focused on eating the elephant. It is time to be upset, it is time to be HIGHLY motivated, it is time to face down opposition. My comments were mainly directed at the tinfoil hat type threads and cold dead hands bravado statements. I have seen some SHTF, I have seen people suffering, fear and oppresison. We are nowhere near that. And if you think Sandy put you in a full fledged old school SHTF, your mistaken. That was the minor leagues.

When the floods come and your house is an island you will stand guard of course.

When the rescuers come and want to take you and your family to safety, you will go.

When the NG tells you to leave your firearms or hand them over so your family can be taken to safety... what are you going to do.. shoot? Really? Are you going to watch you wife and kids scream while you take your last breaths? Or better yet, watch them bleed out because YOU fired on LEO or NG?

This country IS going in the crapper quickly, but it is through very poor leadership that have conviently forgoten what it is to be an American, coupled with factions that are more interested in finger pointing and classifying people based on who they voted for then FIXING THE F'CKING problems. And this is not a new trend, if anything it is a cycle. go back and review your history books and look for parrables. Stop looking for faults and find solutions, work within the teams to repair the problem. Stop pointing out where the leak is and fix the pipe.

And trust me, an ostrich I am not, and if and when the barricades are needed, I will be there first with pick and shovel. But if you think there is a over arching scheme to break the US so we can all become Chinese-Islamic-Euro socialist weenies, you completely over estimate our government and under estimate the people.

We are all on the same team. I have become more involved becuase I regret not being more involved a few years ago. I have been a shooter and an advocate for over 25yrs... my attitudes, likes and dislikes in regards to shooting sports and hungting have come and gone and change with the seasons. But one thing that has always held constant is my belief that the 2A is the most important after speech. It gives teeth to all the other amendments. While I was ignorant of the importance of the black rifles in the 2a at first, my thoughts were changed by education. I would like to think the same thing could be influenced on every anti we come into contact with.

I was trying to think of an overall strategy suggestion, try to pick the solutions not just the problem, and it became painfully obvious.

We the citizens have placed so much importance on the election of federal offices that we have completely ignored our locals that really influence our lives in a much greate fashion. And in particular I notice that here in NJ. In Georgia the local elections are VERY important, with county run systems that can f' up your life quickly if they are allowed to run rampant. Turn out in local elections in rural states should show us the path forward, as they always have high turnout. How is your voting turnout in the last 5 local elections? Are you proud of it, were you just to busy to make it to the polls. I am not calling anyone out here, just trying to see if we can ID an issue. Where are the politicians now that are in office, are they the ones you wanted or not? Are they a problem for NJ or not? I have always liked the idea of a Dem sensitive President with a conservative Sen and House. I would like to see more conservatives in our local reps.

I am going to run for an office. I am going to try to invoke change from inside. I am going to try to make my circle or area of influence a better place by taking back the gov from elitist that think they are always right, and truly find out what the people want.

I laugh at my friends here that think the middle of this country is a wasteland of wheat fields and country music. Where as the people from the middle of the country feel that NJ is the land of Sopranos and Jersey Shore. I quess stereotypes exist for a reason, but one thing unites us and that is that we are all Americans and I think we all need to remember that in the end, that America is the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for all.

Watch "Shindler's List" again - should be mandetory watching for every fee citizen while they are still free...The point is not that Obama may do it; the point is that some day, some evil tyrant may do it...Yes, it can happen here...And if we do not stand our ground today, generations down the road may suffer...This is for all Americans to follow...Obama should sign an Executive Order making all American's watch this movie once per year! ;-)...And maybe his wife can repeat her "Oscar" apperance next year and talk about the movie and the dangers of a repressive state, singling out a class of citizens (did you say "Gun Owners"?), enslavemen, and of course out-right murder...Cheeze, by time this (may) happen they can do it all via robots and make it even more politicaly correct....Sadly, it can happen here or anywhere giving the right circumstances, given apathetic citizens, given a biased press (rather then a free press), giving an evil leader. - Some day of course.
