3 pointsPlease stop with the phony baloney $1 lease stuff. As far as storing a firearm in a locked container at a relative's house. I don't see a problem there. It's not a transfer. The relative has no access to the firearm if its locked up. It's not a transfer when you leave your guns at home and youre gone for a week is it? When you store firearms at one of these FFLS that rent you storage space it's not a transfer. I can see why it would be different. Reasonable deviation? That's up to interpretation. However, in 45 years of owning guns in NJ I have never heard of anyone arrested because they made an "unreasonable deviation" going to or coming from a range. If anyone knows of such an incident, please enlighten me. I've asked that question numerous times on this forum since it started and no one has been able to come up with one. IANAL, but I think too many over think the reasonable deviation issue.

2 pointsSorry, Tex. I do feel sorry for her. In fact, I weep for her. Can you just imagine how much energy it takes to keep The Zeeker under control and out of trouble? Oy vey.

2 pointsNo but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

2 pointsI've stopped bothering even looking at most local shop's websites - they never seem to have inventory, or the rare times they do, it is almost always without prices. I understand a small shop won't have the resources to keep things up to date, so it's not a big deal, but it would still be nice. Most of my local shops are close enough I can do a loop and cover all 4+ in a day, and if I don't find it there (or have the option to order through one), I just go to gunbroker. What I might suggest is a photo of the exterior of the business. There have been places I've tried to find that were like trying to find Waldo. Places inside other businesses should maybe mention that little fact, too. In reading posts from other people about part-time/home-based FFLs, I'd suggest those places have either an actual list of hours, or mention their hours are random, AND have multiple ways of getting in touch with them (and actually check those damn methods).

1 pointTo the new members please update your profiles with a location. I am not talking your street address or anything specific but your county is a good start. There are a couple of WTB or WTS items right now that dont have an updated profile so nobody knows the general area. I for one know that I wont reply to a WTS or WTB thread unless the user updates their profile. For me it is a waste of time to have to keep asking where are you located. This helps with meetups and also lets other members see who is in the general area. You never know, a member on here may be your neighbor. A couple of months ago also there was a thread in which people started updating the signature line in their profiles with their first name. This helps get a community feeling on the board and makes a little more personal experience. Please update your profiles and sit back and relax. Welcome to the NJGF community.

1 pointLOL.... Well he did ask about the law/rules.... he did not ask what I would do.... I have packed pistol in truck and went to range after work many times..... I do not own a tin foil hat, so I see no issues.

1 pointAll can say is perhaps the Nobel Prize Committee should yank that Nobel Peace Prize out of Obama's hands and pass it over to Mrs. Zeke. She is undoubtedly more deserving!

1 pointWhen Robbin Williams offed himself the media was all about how he was not selfish and not coward.. Once again the shoe only fits certain people.

1 pointIf you have a FID can't you leave an unloaded long gun in your car? Does the range rent lockers? TTC does.

1 pointIf you go on USAJobs, constant positions open. Some offer specific postings (an actual town), and others do areas along the border. I just applied for two; one in Maine, other New Mexico/West Texas. Just took the one test yesterday, and have one Friday (up in Metuchen). There are different titles, and even though it is a similar position in the same agency, two different tests. The first one was easy, like 90 questions, but those questions where you answer and then second guess yourself. Nothing L/E related... just reasoning, math, and grammar. Study guides are on their website. I will say, get transcripts ready and in PDF form. Have your resume squared away, and make sure to modify it for how they want it written (they want the date formatted a certain way... do it that way). Also, if you are looking at a 05 level position, see if you had good enough grades for their academic entry into the 07 level. In short, have a GPA over 3.0 or 3.5 (forget which, so look it up in the job description), and it works similar to having some graduate level work. The process is a little difficult, as there isn't a lot of places here for the various parts of the investigation. Newark does do stuff for the interview and polygraph (one, I did have to choose Yonkers), but closest place for the PT test is Harpers Ferry. Completely on the applicant to get out there.

1 pointDude enough with the Dicks and Walmart. I know whats there lol.

1 pointThree out of the last four guns i bought were used. I found them by going to the various stores in the area and shopping the "old fashioned" way. My point is a good on line presence with proper pictures, updated inventory and prices for used inventory will give a gun shop an edge. It's the way i shop for everything else, including new guns. Legend has the right idea here.

1 pointRob, I know what you mean about going to theaters - I never was a fan, especially when my system sounds infinitely better. I'd love a bigger screen (my weak link), but I've concentrated on sound and it shows...well...sounds. I know some shows are available on Netflix in 4k, but you may have minimum internet speed requirements for it to play, I swore I read something about that a while back. Wouldn't know, I don't have netflix right now. I was watching various stuff on youtube yesterday at 4k on my PC, and whenever I get a 4K TV, it will have an alternate input from my PC. What I was watching is beautiful on my 23" computer monitor... I know not all that much content is available in 4k now, but I'd use it more for 4k bluray and PC gaming (and as a 2nd/3rd monitor) One downside for when you go 4k - if you have an older receiver, it may not have 4k capabilities or only output 24/30Hz w/ 24bit color - mine does not do anything over 1080p (HDMI 1.3a) - so you'd need a new one for that too, if you want to use it for feeding multiple HDMI inputs to a single HDMI out to the TV at 4k. Make sure you research what version of HDMI the receiver has (or if it can be upgraded) - ideally you want HDMI 2.0 (+).

1 pointThe home theater in my house in NJ, which I may just move it to FL, is a Marantz AV7703 preamp / processor and I use two Parasound 5x200 watt amps to power the 7 speakers. I have two subs to make 7.2 (different frequency ranges). The speakers or B&W and I have a Mitsubishi 1080P protector (the weak link in the setup). I may downsize it when I move or maybe just play with less volume (I am having the sound proofed though). I will definitely not use the projector because I want a 4k AMOLED television. The sound quality is outstanding and I have only been to a theater twice in the last 5 or so years because watching at home is better. I have two rows of sofas that have three individual recliners, and arm rests with cup holders. (necessary for drinking).

1 pointI was just trying to jog the OP's memory as to whether the guns were his while he had a residence (including a parental residence) in Florida. If there is a simple, legal way to do the transfer, one needn't look at the more difficult, legal ways to accomplish the same thing.

1 pointSimple. Have them send to another out of state FFL then that ffl sends to us
-
1 pointYup. I wouldn't even bother with IO's customer service. That gun is garbage and should be treated as such. Get refund or sell it and treat themselves to a VEPR or something. I am still blown away at how in this day in age, people still do not research a $700 purchase even the slightest bit.

1 pointAn immutable law of internet or mail order commerce: Whenever they ask for your CC # they will bill you after some number of days. 100% guaranteed. When I was starting out in this hobby SG had a lot of stuff I needed, like ammo, so the membership made some sense. Unfortunately almost none of their clothing fits me (6'3", 225 lbs, 13 4x wide shoes). Lots of choices these days. No reason ever to buy anything that's not on sale. No reason therefore to give them $40 per year IMO.

1 pointYou will need a permit if a gun with a new serial number is being sent.
