I think we are talking about different things. I don't see anyone here advocating against protecting self. But are cautioning about dealing with consequences. You are right, I haven't seen a VietCong with PTSD. Doesn't mean they aren't suffering. I have seen soldiers of other countries come back from messy wars and waste away, never to return to normal again. On the other hand, I doubt the that lady who shot couple of robbers (there was a video a year or so ago) suffered any PTSD. I also doubt she took firearm classes to prepare her mind & body with super ninja skills (training emphasis could be another topic). Big part of all this is mental justification, dealing with details and number of occurrences. LEO and other professionals are constantly trained on value of human life for very good reasons. They are given tools and power thats above average citizen. They have to deal with details of aftermath. They also need to be careful of mental justification. Its very thin line that can be easily crossed over to dark side. Society does not need bunch of those running around with no empathy. Is certain cases of PTSD higher in troops engaged in close range combat compared to, say, airforce personnel or drone operators ? Why is that ? In my personal opinion, the later doesnt have to deal with details up close. Don't have to look into eyes of a person chocking on their own blood. Don't have to walk through body(ies) drenched in cloths . Don't have to bag them. Its easy to sound tough, unless been through couple of these up close.

Zeke, give it time. Once upon a time you and I owned only 1 or 2 guns. A shotgun or an AR is better to fight with. When it comes to that an AR is better than a shotgun IMO. However, a handgun is...um...handier than either. Some gun guru said "a handgun is used to fight your way to your shotgun or rifle". Use your handgun effectively and there's no need to fight your way to a long gun.

H/T to H.E.! Only those who encounter night sweats after dealing-out the cards of death are worthy of our compassion. I get where everyone is coming from, believe me I do. Just like in War, no matter the justification, killing takes its' toll upon the survivors. Some go crazy, some hide it well & "move-on", some seek help for it, some drink it away when the demons come, and some, for whatever reason, ENJOY IT. This is the epitaph of an imperfect human being that is called upon to act swiftly & deadly on behalf of self or others.

Well, Luckily got in touch with them to recall the package and send it to FFL... Not gonna mess with the Peoples Republik of NJ

He's riding with me, he will be there as long as he makes it to "Mrs.PP to be" house.

That should have gone to a FFL. A manufacturer should have known better. I'd call them for a return label.

I recently heard some untrue rumors that Mastadon Ammo and Camo in Highland Lakes is closed. THIS IS TOTALLY untrue. It seems a "For Sale" sign in front is confusing people. The sign has nothing to do with Mastadon doing regular business, and I strongly suggest you stop by and check it out if you haven't already. Great people down there!

If you had to sell them all but one, which would you keep? Why? S&W 686+ 3" I absolutely love shooting this gun I have a couple thousand thru it, both hot mags and plinkers. It fits my hand perfectly. I upgraded the sights and changed the grips but that's it. It's just an awesome little revo.

At Zero Dark Thirty after the first two ignitions most old farts like me suffer "night blindness". I did much better with a weapon mounted light than just night sights at an indoor range "experiment" I conducted as a Discipline Co-Chair with a single overhead fixture illuminating the entire range at the standard firing line (while the shooters were all 18 yards forward of the line to duplicate a dark parking lot scenario). "Night sights" are great at "near sunrise" & dusk for me, especially the bright green ones. Your mileage may vary

You think you're confused? I mixed your post up with Ray Ray's. BTW Ray, I love your necklace.

Zeke is earning the "NUDGE" avatar BIG TIME, lol! Or is that NOOGE? Or NUUDGE? Can't wait to see Peel's kisser when she ignites a friend's single-action STI 2011 "fat bottom girl" with its' HUGE mag well. OH. Wait. I just did it TOO, lol! Rosey

Oh, yeah... dude! You're definitely one of those "borrow" events I speak of.... since you had kindly offered. Need to move to the long guns next. Just pushing through some remaining work first... then I'll reach out.

I extend all resources I have to assist you. Just let me know.

Thank you, Griz! "Slow and steady wins the race" is my new mantra re: gun purchases. I'll be setting up 3 more "borrow" dates to refine my likes/dislikes. I'm nowhere close to a decision... much as that pains Zeke.

Sorry for your loss! It is never easy making that decision but you made the right call. Putting down an animal that is sick and or suffering is the kindest last gesture anyone can make. Ive had to put down 4 of my own dogs and it sucks. I have found that for me personally the best way to move forward is to get another dog. Not to replace your late dog, no dog will ever replace another, but it gives you a very good distraction. If a new dog is in the cards for you please consider a rescue if at all possible.

That's awesome. We are very proud of our Irish heritage. So say hello to Murphy Shamus O'Brien and Finn Patrick O'Brien. LOL Murphy is a black lab/ beagle mix and Finn is a yellow lab/ golden retriever mix. Both were rescues from high kill shelters in Georgia.

My wife is very proud of her Italian heritage so all of the dogs have names that she finds appropriate. My two bullmsatiffs are named Capri and Luca Brassi. When we had boxers (3 at one point) Bianca, Bella and Botticella.

What type of receiver are you talking about? An AR upper? A lower? Something else? If it's a AR upper that's fine. It only gun parts. There is no registration of long guns in NJ. If it's serial numbered it needs to go through a FFL not matter if it's a long gun or handgun.
  29. 1 point
NO. Send it back and make sure they send it to the FFL Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I've seen the gun. Quality firearm. Why not the SIG 238? Maybe $600 vs $150. Is the SIG better made? Time will tell. If you know what you're looking at you often can get more than you pay for. A quick check of the auction sites shows these are going for $400 or so in this condition. Kenny, one thought I had. Check to see if the firing pin protrudes from the breech with the hammer down. Not a design flaw. Just means you can't lower the hammer on a loaded round.

Your friend can try bringing the below directive issued directly from the Attorney General of NJ to the attention of the chief of police, and if no traction gained there, the mayor: http://www.nj.gov/lps/dcj/agguide/directives/2016-4_Permits-to-Carry-Firearms_Directive.pdf Page 2, middle of 2nd paragraph (my emphasis added, any typos are probably mine):

A MALE FAIRY TALE Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess, "Will you marry me?" The Princess immediately said, "No!" And the Prince lived happily ever after, and rode motorcycles and dated thin, long-legged, full-breasted women, and hunted and fished and raced cars, and went to titty bars and dated ladies half his age and drank whiskey, beer, and Captain Morgan, and never heard bitching and never paid child support or alimony, and dated cheerleaders and kept his house and guns, and ate spam and potato chips and beans, and blew enormous farts, and never got cheated on while he was at work, and all his friends and family thought he was friggin' cool as hell, and he had tons of money in the bank, and left the toilet seat up. The End. **********

Those " dealers " must be closed minded to say such a statement. This forum is filled with helpful, friendly and knowledgeable people as well as LEO & FFL " dealers " some of which I have became friends with. So the Obama administration tried to take our guns but were uncessufeul argument you call preposterous ? You again know it all instead of listening .....The point was if we were " in danger " and all sold our black rifles or bought 2 round magazines because Obama was coming for our guns where would we all be today. You are doing the same with Murphy. Nobody knows what will happen and your not a " criminal " if the limit changes and you comply and modify your magazines.

Yeah, smart Ray. Let's have a fellow shooter sell his guns because he doesn't want to break the law and he isn't as "radical" as you are. You are always talking about eating our own, but you have the biggest fork out there. Jesus Christ. Every gun owner has their limit on what they are comfortable doing. Not every gun owner has the 2A as their top political priority. Some gun owners just like to shoot. They don't care if they have 10, 15, 30 rounds in their mag. They aren't political. But they are still exercising their 2A rights. Who are you to tell them they should get rid of their guns. That's playing right into the Antis hands. He isn't taking anything away from you. Hes not turning in your mags. He's just not comfortable risking his money or freedom on keeping items made illegal by bad laws. Like it or not, until you have your revolution, the laws still apply. You don't have to agree with them, but you have to suffer the consequences if you are caught violating them. StuckinNJ has every RIGHT to follow what he thinks is the correct course of action for him, no matter how much you tell him he's wrong. That's the very definition of liberty in practice. Hes doing his part. He's a gun owner. He's a shooter. Not everyone can, or is willing, to go full on "Cold dead hands". That doesn't make their membership any less important in the 2A fight than anyone else's. We need every gun owner we can get right now. Don't isolate one because they are uncomfortable risking what they have. More importantly, don't turn a lawful gun owner into a spokesman the antis by being a dickhead. That's shortsighted and stupid.

My nightstand gun is an M&P 40 that I'm going to drop a .357 Sig barrel in (I shoot 9mm through it as well) and my edc is a shield in 9mm. I just find a steel frame pistol in a smaller caliber like the Makarov, CZ83 and Sig P232 to name a few to be extremely accurate and fun to shoot (and all single stack). HE, thanks as always for the ballistic info.

I don't know. To me that sounds like saying an AR is better than a .38. You want the M1 because it is cool.
