Are we seriously debating this? We teach our kids this before kindergarten: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." On a different note - if you are going to any kind of rally/protest/march/etc... and you see KKK or swastikas, that's a clue to about face and go home. All your presence does is add credence to those awful people. Standing shoulder to shoulder with a brown shirt or a white sheet will never ever help our cause.

I'm not discounting your argument in theory... but I'm just asking, pragmatically speaking, when these open-carry militia members make a conscious choice to put themselves in situations where they get linked in the press to Nazis and the KKK, is that really the best way to promote open-carry or the 2A in general? Don't they realize those kinds of protests are power kegs just looking for a match? Don't they realize that the social and political "blowback" of a shooting would be so devastating that it would undermine the very things they claim to support? Like it or not, whatever they do and whatever accidents or problems occur will reflect on all gun owners. I think once they realized who were the ugly players arranging the Charlottesville protest, they should have just walked away. Who knows? Maybe it would have forced the local politicians/police to handle things better than they did. Instead, these militia people are throwing themselves into situations that can go bad a thousand different ways - and taking those risks for what? For a bunch of white supremacists? Seriously? Just because they have the RIGHT to do it, doesn't make it wise strategy. That's all I'm saying.

So it would be better for Antifa to beat you to death then for you to defend yourself against a rabid mob. After all they violently attack anyone that has an opposing view like Trump supporters. If you truly believe in the 2nd you should be allowed to carry anywhere any time no questions.

Yeah, I'm with the 2 posters above... I've had my own concerns. I mean, there wasn't even ONE gunshot, and somehow the left has managed to tie this to the need for gun control! Can you imagine if just ONE open-carry "militia" member, even in self-defense, actually pulls out a gun at one of these protests and shoots somebody? What an epic disaster that would be! I don't even want to think how far the tentacles of a situation like that would reach.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this legal case in awhile... but it's an interesting one to keep an eye on. The Second Amendment Foundation just joined in on an amicus brief... the long and short of it, they're asking SCOTUS to review a case in Maryland - and arguing that what the state has proposed is unconstitutional under the 2A as laid out in the Heller case --- meaning that MD is trying to outlaw an entire "class" of "common use" firearms -- semi-auto sports-utility rifles. They're hoping to get the Supremes to take the case when they return in October. Personally, I still think that's rather risky with the current panel of judges... and of course, there's no guarantee SCOTUS will even take the case. Still, I believe it's one to watch. Because 2 of the Supremes as I recall were pushing recently for SCOTUS to take on a 2A case. So, sooner or later, one of these cases in the pipeline will be heard. If it's this one, I would think it could have broad implications for a few other states - like our own Joisey (should a certain you-know-who become Gov). https://www.ammoland.com/2017/08/saf-joins-amicus-brief-asking-high-court-review-maryland-gun-case/#axzz4qcgNUIL1

The answer to that is nobody that does not want to protest peacefully should be there. Period! Beings that is not the case, pure mayhem will break out. Your logic will destroy everyone's rights. Not the dumb bastards that are doing this crap! Cause they don't care. Let leo or whatever stop them. We, the smart, do not cast the first stone nor fire the first or maybe even the second round. We strategize. Don't open up pandoras box! We will all regret it. If you feel that your statement stands, then by all means, join the protest lines with your weapon. We will just watch with peanuts and popcorn. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk ProPS: why do people here continuously fight against groups on our side? Someone said it a few times. We tend to eat our young. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

As usual in the era of clickbait "news" stories meets gnat-level attention spans, the whole story has not been communicated:

It has been more than a couple years ago that we used to hold informal meet-ups just to BS about guns, legislation, competition, the challenges of being a gun person and living in this gulag or whatever gun topic moved us. Time marches on and we have many new members on the board, so it seems appropriate to revive this, dare I say, tradition? Here's the skinny. Key word above is "informal". There is no agenda, there is no sign-up or a request to know who's coming and who's not. There is no rescheduling - come, don't come - do whatever the spirit moves you. This will be held outdoors at the Starbucks on Route 31 and Denow Road. They are the end unit of a small strip mall and can be seen easily from 31. For you GPS users I believe the physical address is 800 Denow Road, Hopewell Twp. It is about a mile or so north of the I-95 / Rt. 31 exit. I would ask that if you attend, please patronize our "host" and at least buy a cup of coffee. This will occur this Thursday evening (8/24) starting at 6:30 PM and lasting until the last person leaves. I'll be there at 6:30 with Maggie (my brown GSP), who is a Starbucks regular. If you have one - you may want to throw some kind of chair in your trunk so we don't co-opt all of the business' seating (it could happen). At the worst I'll enjoy a nice frew-frew drink by myself and go home - at the best, we'll get a nice turn-out and have a pleasant evening discussing the things we like best. Hope to see you there. Adios, Pizza Bob

Best comment regarding recent Confederate statues reactions... and the lack of historical context is appalling ! Blacks who were never slaves are fighting whites who were never Nazis over a Confederate statue erected by southern Democrats because now Democrats can't stand their own history anymore...... yet somehow, it's Trumps fault! I hope this explains the mentality of most in the democratic party. Now, where were we in the Russian thing?

If there's anything I learned from AOL Chain e-mails, it's that retired Marine Corps officers spend an awful lot of time writing chain letters How come they're never from the Army? Air Force? Navy? Wouldn't someone in the National Guard have more free time to write these? Serious, go on Snopes. Every single one of these things is written by a "retired Marine Corps _____" for the last 25 years

We have been over this Aiken stuff a million times. While I agree that he was stupid in saying something to his mother (and bunch of other things), the fact that he was prosecuted, instructions from judge etc, displays all that is wrong & dangerous with our legal system. No wonder people are shit scared to even walk 100 yards with their legal firearms. The same thing could happen to any of us. You walk out the door to range to blow some steam, thats in 100 yards and a disgruntled / upset gf/bf/spouse calls up cops and says something like "(s)he just walked out the door with GUNZ and is on the sidewalk". Best case, you will be alive with bit of bruising. If we ever get to a point of "perfect poster boy" for 2A, where someone gets arrested for following law in every-which-way, you know its too late. Until then, every case we see will fall into a broad spectrum of gray. We will have to decide if we support the ones in later half of gray, who displayed utter stupidity and even a hint of "illegal" activity (say, someone in possession of standard capacity). Wolf just caught and about to feast on a sheep. From the escaped group, one sheep said to the other, in relief, "That sheep had it coming, what was she thinking grazing in open with limp leg".

The original 9mm Glocks were one pin designs. They went to two pins when they started developing the .40 models in the same frames as the 9mm. The one pin allegedly gives a better trigger - I don't know how exactly. Looking at the gun I wouldn't think the second pin matters to trigger press at all... Unless by moving the one pin higher you can change the angle of the pivot of the trigger... I don't know.... Anyway, the G42 and G43 are one pin designs and a lot of Glock shooters say they prefer the trigger on those models. I personally think the better trigger feel has more to do with the redesigned safety plunger/trigger bar interface - safety is more of a ramp shape and less of a dome, but I don't have that much time on Gen 1 9mm Glocks or G42/43s. The new safety plunger is also in the M models. I agree with the finger bumps - kinda. They fit my hand well on the full size small frame models - G17 and G22. On the compact small frames - G19 and G23, they don't fit my hand as well. I prefer to leave the bottom one and remove the top one: With the magwell, this pistol feels like a handshake when I hold it.

I don't get spending time and effort on going back to one pin. That means redesiging either the locking block or how it the frame holds it and it is not like there is anything wrong with the 2 pin layout, and you still need the extra strength somehow if you don't want the gen 2 .40 issues. I'm probably the only person on the planet who likes the finger grooves. I don't like them on other guns, but they work for me on Glocks. I recently handled a Gen 2 19 and I was like how do you hold onto this thing? everything else, have it, why not.

Its not for home defense. Ended up just carrying my glock, any sort of long gun is just a hassle. Just need to get new sights for my G19 or a holster for my VP9 so i could carry that. Not really, ended up not taking it. Just an inconvenience.

I remember reading this same Q&A months ago. Nothing in the law has since changed.... "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, ETC., ETC., (COMMA!), OR other land or property owned or possessed by him" Punctuation MATTERS . Read your EXEMPTIONS, they are your FRIENDS! Stay safe in Newark & do what you have to to stay ALIVE. And don't publish whatcha hafta do to DO IT

Here's the issue with questions like these - you have to understand how the system works. There is no way for a representative of the NJSP to answer that accurately. If you are arrested for a "deviation" or for a "handgun transportation" crime you will be charged by an officer following the guidance of an Assistant Prosecutor of the County Prosecutor's Office of the county you are arrested in. With each County Prosecutor in our state having a different interpretation of the law and a different stance on the 2A. If there is a disagreement regarding charges at the State Court level, then NJDCJ and the AGs office will step in an offer guidance - Not the NJSP FAU. If a Cop or a Trooper has a question regarding the interpretation of anything in NJSA 2C, they call the zone prosecutor (the Assistant Pros assigned to your jurisdiction by that county's prosecutor's office) for the county they are in. They will give guidance on all applicable charges. We don't call the NJSP because what they think falls under "reasonable" doesn't matter. Only what the Prosecutor thinks counts for charging. What the judge thinks is what matters after that.

Brainstorming is good! In that vain, let's ask one of the most asked questions on the forum: "Will the NJSP web site be updated with what a citizen CAN DO with firearms and replace the mumbo-jumbo of conflicting info, including the co-mingling of 2C Statute intrastate laws & interstate FOPA guidelines now written as "going through New Jersey"? It can be somewhat simplified as thus: "How to transport firearms WITHIN NJ as a NJ resident" & "How to transport firearms INTO NJ from another state while moving to or attending a sanctioned match in NJ" Man oh man would THAT help! Cause right now, all the Newbies read that EVERYTHING IS ILLEGAL and they never read the EXEMPTIONS correctly!

Bhunted - I feel the same way. Had this in my cart a few times being such a great deal, but passed. No room in the safe anymore anyways. More money to go toward pimping out my tavor later on. I never shoot past 50 yard lol. How accurate does my rifle need to be at that laughable distance lol

Ameriglo Spartan Operator sights are my preferred sights. You can find them for under $80 with a little work, Primary Arms often has them for sale. Usually they are around $90-$100. I work in Middlesex County, and have the Glock install tool. When you get your sights, whichever kind they are, let me know. I'll meet up with you and install them for free. Also, Atlantic Tactical on Worlds Fair Drive in Franklin may still carry some Glock sights and they used to install them for free if you bought them there. Not sure if they still do that though.
