Putting my dog down today.....

Recommended Posts

Well just got the news from my parents that were putting my dog Sandy down today. We've had this dog for 18 years so to say the least, i'm devastated. We got her when i was six so i really can't imagine not having her around. This SUCKS :(

My condolences. My 21 year old cat and my parents 17 year old dog were both put down recently. We grow as attached to them as they do to us. Try to Be happy Sandy was around as long as she was. That's a long time in dog years.

Man one of the worst feelings I ever had I my life is when I had to take my dog to get put down. It just does not seem fair that something so good lives such a short life. Dogs make us better people they remind us of what unconditional love and loyalty is about every day.

Sorry to hear that... pets are awesome.. and you get so close to them.. you just have to tell yourself that they simply don't live as long as we do... so the good years you had together amount to a great life for her.. that is how I try to rationalize it at least..but unfortunately even with the rationalizing it doesnt make it hurt any less.. so really.. sorry to hear..

"There is one best place to bury a dog.

"If you bury him in this spot, he will

come to you when you call - come to you

...over the grim, dim frontier of death,

and down the well-remembered path,

and to your side again.

"And though you call a dozen living

dogs to heel, they shall not growl at

him, nor resent his coming,

for he belongs there.

"People may scoff at you, who see

no lightest blade of grass bent by his

footfall, who hear no whimper, people

who may never really have had a dog.

Smile at them, for you shall know

something that is hidden from them,

and which is well worth the knowing.

"The one best place to bury a good

dog is in the heart of his master."

sorry for the loss... what breed was sandy?

she was a mutt, half lab half golden retriever. she went so quick. i couldn't even try to hold back the tears when her eyes closed. i definitely cried more for her than most people i knew who passed.

Sorry to hear that. Ive had my Boxer sonny for 12 years now. Its hard to explain the attachment that we get to our pets. Only people with pets can truly understand. Sorry for your loss. :(
