8 Surprising Anti-Gun Celebrities

Recommended Posts

If I was on a computer and not this iPad I'd post a head slap. I think actors should act and STFU. Who are they, they act for a living, can change who they are for a part in a movie, so they lie for a living, so credibility isn't on their side as far as I see it.

Mr. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is anti gun? Im sure he kindly cashed the paycheck he got from all those movies where he was a gun toting protagonist. :vinsent:

And Mark Wahlberg? Thought Shooter was a great movie and he was a good character choice for it.. now my view changes = (

Matt Damon is not just ant-gun, but he is a rabid leftist.

The other ironic think about Marky Mark is that his brother is the one that did this: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/02/daniel-zimmerman/hold-on-to-your-chair/

The shania twain one does upset me

She is originally from Canada and probably been educated by the system there that guns are bad and only the mounties and provincial police should only have them. The other two on that top 10 list were not born in this country either, and maybe think the gun laws in their home countries should apply to Americans as well....Connery and Schwarzenegger.

Why would this be surprising? Actors play make-believe for a living. The very thing that makes an actor good is his ability to convince you that he is someone other than who he really is.

Additionally, celebrities as successful as those on this list are frequently very removed from reality. They are surrounded by people who protect them physically, tell them everything they say and do is great and handle life's mundane, day-to-day tasks. They don't have to come out of an ATM vestibule at night, drive through sketchy areas, live among the unwashed masses, etc. They are the last people in the world I would expect to understand my life, needs and perspective. Or to respect my rights.

It is interesting the way many of the Hollywood elite act because it helps to illustrate at varying levels the types of people that become anti-gun, and essentially anti-liberty. The first major reason for being anti-gun I would characterize as the person being unfamiliar with, or having had a prior negative experience with guns. It is pretty much self-explanatory in that people fear what they don't understand.

I would imagine that most of the anti-gun Hollywood elite have had little experience with guns. But that learning curve can be overcome, so there are still many factors in creating the anti-gun Hollywood elite such as the top-down pressure of the industry and the company that these people keep. Just as in with many schools and colleges, and with the media, you have to be left-leaning to get work because those in positions of hiring and providing opportunities are placed there over other qualified people by those that would have an agenda. Just as in other highly Left-leaning professions, the acting profession both attracts and fosters this kind of belief by rewarding those that share the Left view. That coupled with the fact that these people hang out mostly with their own ilk, a left-leaning,anti-gun people, and that they periodically have to deal with dangerous stalkers, etc. and that would pretty much help to develop their anti-gun frame of mind. These actors are spoiled beyond belief and they essentially know that they are not able to control themselves with things like illegal substance intake, alcohol, or just whatever craving they have at the moment. So, they believe that the rest of the humans on this planet, who don't have unlimited funds to do what they want, that those people are also ruled by the uncontrollable id and mostly out-of-control and need to be looked after. And those feelings even manifest further in many of them have some sort of self-loathing and low self-esteem because they cannot believe that they get paid what many of them do for the work that they do. That lowers their self-worth and again perpetuates an out-of-control and self-destructive frame of mind which further leads them to being anti-gun.

You will find that just about any Left-leaning individual will also be anti-gun, while not many conservative people would be that way unless they just have not had experiences with guns. You can educate the conservative-minded people, but it is very had to change the view of the Left toward guns, because much of it comes from a psychosis that they experience and an all-and-all unhappiness toward their circumstances.

For some reason, it is extremely hard to convince someone that nobody owes them anything, that life isn't fair, and that they are responsible for their own actions, and largely their own predicament. If you can accomplish that, you can turn someone toward supporting our bill of rights, private property and the right to self-defense. Hollywood helps to keep these people out of the real world and seeks to perpetuate in them the belief that they are pretty much adolescents that need the beneficent big brother to look after them.

I wonder if there was a boycott of the movies, books, music, products, tv shows of all these anti-gun celebrities, would it make a difference?

Nice in theory but we would never be able to get enough people to do it to make I difference. Too bad though.

I will not support any actors or entertainment people that outwardly profess a political ideology different from my own. If they have those beliefs so be it, but they should be kept from my radar.

Some of the quotes the article used... I would say are a little weak... but whatever. =)

In reality, what difference does it make? None at all.

People have a right to their opinion, and we have to respect that right. No one says you have to agree with them.

I would agree, but there is still a problem in Hollywood Ameritopia.

"take the repercussions of that" ? What are you talking about, does not make sense.

My whole point of that post is that in the free democracy where we live, people have a right to their opinion, and I don't believe speaking vocally about your beliefs is somehow bad.

We donated to the NRA which lobbies congress, they donate to anti gun organizations. Big deal. The larger aspect to it is that no matter what the issue or topic is, I respect their right to their opinion, and choose what I do about it, however I am not going to try to beat my beliefs on someone if they are not interested in it.

If the vast majority of my neighbors believe guns should be outlawed, I respect their right to that belief, and I move on. If they are open to going out to the range or having a discussion, I will, but I am not going to go around and call them stupid libs, etc.
