Pizza - UPDATED and listed by town

Recommended Posts

In lieu of recent chatter about the best pizza. Why not start a pizza thread of best pizza joints. Just one rule. Franchise big boy pizza joints like Dominos and stuff don't count. These are the places that think large pies are suppose to be 12 inches! That's bogus bs.. A real large pizza is at least 16 inches...

So for mom/pop type places.. I'll start it off with my fav...

Mainline Pizza, E. Main St., Little Falls across from the old Town Tavern. They've been around forever. Use to be more towards center of town. Old man was right off the boat and I think was a bookie too back then. Hehe...

Believe the son or grandson runs it now and still taste great!

Thanks Alec. You knew I'd have to weigh-in on this - no pun intended. When DeLorenzo's was in the 'burg (in Trenton), that was hands-down the best tomato pie. That store is gone, but I've found a close second. It's Nutt's on route 29 in Titusville, NJ. That is just north of the Washington Crossing Bridge. You can thank me later.

Adios,

Bob -- Nutt's has good pizza. FYI -- DeLorenzo's has a few locations. In Trenton on Hamilton Ave. They also have one in robbinsville, and are opening a new one on Sloan Ave in Hamilton.

The one on Hamilton operated simultaneously with the one on Hudson, but it was a different branch of the same family. Not as good as the Hudson St store. The one in Robbinsville is run/owned by Sammy, the son of the Hudson St family. Don't know about the Sloan one, but would guess that's Sammy's too.

+ 1 for Chimney Rock if u live in the Bridgewater area.

If you're further west, try Natales in Annandale. Small mom and pop shop, great service and a good sized pie that's one of the best in the area. We stumbled across them one night about 2 yrs ago. They were just about to close and we were just getting home from vacation. My oldest wanted pizza and since he has food allergies we can't trust the big stores. Not only did they fire up the oven again but the owners son made us some zepoles while we waited. Can't beat that for service

Great thread, I'm always looking for good pizza so.......

Another +1 for Chimney Rock in Bridgewater if you're in the area.

DeLucia's Pizza in Raritan, best thin crust I've had.

Lastly, Cassie's in Englewood. A little pricey and definitely not a pizzeria but VERY good pie.

This. So much this. Pizza Town USA probably the best round pie, I've ever had.

Also Mr. Brunos in Lyndhurst well known for their square pies.
