Malsua 1,422 Posted February 2, 2014 There were 12 Helicopters that did a fly over here about half hour ago. I'm sure they're headed to the Stadium...it was very loud!

seamusSU 0 Posted February 2, 2014 CNN has an article about the helicopters for the Super Bowl Flyover: http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/31/travel/super-bowl-flyover-preps/index.html?hpt=hp_c3 My wife works right near the Essex County Airport and heard them all landing there on Friday. I guess that was their base for the weekend.

deerpark 83 Posted February 2, 2014 "I can't believe my son is flying over the Super Bowl," RaeAnn "Annie" Smith told CNN on the phone from her home. You can understand why she's so excited. Around kickoff time, when opera star soprano Renée Fleming sings "...And the home of the brave..." 80,000 fans in the stands — and millions more on TV — will watch Wright and his eight fellow pilots soar high over East Rutherford, New Jersey's, MetLife Stadium. Does anyone you know ever get a chance to do that? Probably not. "It's a once in a lifetime career opportunity that you get to do this," Wright said in a phone call Friday with CNN. Like its a good thing, SMH.

Malsua 1,422 Posted February 3, 2014 Any markings of any kind? I was saying black because it was dark outside and all I saw was the lights, including 2 of them running their high power spot light to light up the lake I live on.

She prob understands the connection with the game more so than just flying around in the thing somewhere she can't see. She can say to all her friends, that, "See? That's my boy up there". Melgamatic 66 Posted February 3, 2014 I feel like you guys are just looking for things to be unhappy about. The military does fly overs of many important sporting events. I've certainly seen them at multiple NASCAR events, the Indy 500 twice, and even the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona sports car race. It's impressive, makes people think of our military and people serving in harms way, and also shows people our cool military hardware, which probably helps with recruiting. Being in one of the fly over teams is an honor for the pilots, but that doesn't mean they weren't in combat and understand what's more important. I complain about many things in life, but I don't sit in my seat at the Indy 500 wondering who paid for the fly over. I say, "wow, that's cool" and remember our military while singing the national anthem. Just relax, not everything in life has to be terrible. Threads like this turn from interesting to really depressing quickly.

pbkid6974 1 Posted February 3, 2014 These fly overs dont cost us more. They are all training flights. Pilots need a certain amount of hours per month to stay current. These just count towards those hours
