trout11 0 Posted February 19, 2016 I've been looking to buy a pistol, it is available in 10-round and 16-round varieties from the manuf The Gun Dealer/FFL recommended to me has indicated that he will order the 16-round variety and modify the mags so they can only accept 15 rounds. He indicates this will by NJ legal and all be done before I take possession of the firearm. Is this legit?

We have forum vendors here who modify magazines and block magazines all the time.

trout11 0 Posted February 19, 2016 Some things are more permanent than others. Sent from an undisclosed location via Tapatalk. Valid point but I guess a legit dealer will take care of it properly

trout11 0 Posted March 18, 2016 Another question. Can I buy mags from anywhere and have them shipped to me as long as they are 15 rnd or less?
concrete_boots 19 Posted April 3, 2016 Had my 25 mag taken down to 15, still looks "cool" but it's legal..
zebra007 7 Posted April 4, 2016 If the mods are deemed incorrectly modified or illegal does it fall onto the person in possession of them or the FLL who modified them?
DeletePLS 178 Posted April 4, 2016 If the mods are deemed incorrectly modified or illegal does it fall onto the person in possession of them or the FLL who modified them? I would say that would fall onto you, i don't think the FFL would be liable for what happens to them after they leave his hands.
My1stGlock 144 Posted April 9, 2016 I've used Steve at Monmouth Arms he's a forum sponsor on this site as well. Great work! Converted my 16 round mags to NJ compliant 15.
345Sire 158 Posted May 7, 2016 "only legit if they are permanently modified." So, suppose miracles happen, and our great and benevolent New Jersey society AHEM(couldn't find a suitably sarcastic emoticon) deems quantity of rounds loaded into a magazine becomes a non-issue. We are then stuck with these reduced standard capacity magazines, or are put in the position of needing to purchase new ones? great, just great,,,,,,,,,,,,
PK90 3,570 Posted May 7, 2016 Only in NJ can you hope that happens, then bitch about it.
345Sire 158 Posted May 7, 2016 PK90, I have seen where some people post "Best answer on this thread!" IMHO, you just qualified here! Thanks for the chuckles!
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted May 8, 2016 I would say that would fall onto you, i don't think the FFL would be liable for what happens to them after they leave his hands. I disagree. Technically the FFL would be responsible for the restricted items they are selling. If its illegal to own it's illegal to sell, the FFL would need to show if the user modified them. Schrödinger's cat 87 Posted May 8, 2016 With enough work everything can be undone. I can't think of any method that is really irreversible other that actually cutting the mag.

However, a dose of reality more likely you'll be pinning them again to 10 or less in 2018.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted May 9, 2016 Yes, but you should be happy to buy new ones if your freedoms are being given back. Those are purchases I would gladly make. Unpinned/unmodified mags are a lot cheaper and plentiful. I would gladly sell my 15 rounders to Coloradians

Instead of pinning, they'll be hiding in their own little pvc bunker somewhere unmentionable! :-}
