Assault weapons ban picks up steam in Congress

Recommended Posts

They are trying, as hard as they can, and after the last few shootings, more Congressmen are signing on.  Emotions are on their side.

Be prepared...

...."And nearly 200 House Democrats have now signed on to legislation — authored by Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), the head of Democrats’ messaging operation — banning semi-automatic firearms and large-capacity magazines. With 198 co-sponsors, the bill is just 20 votes shy of the number needed to push it through the lower chamber.

Five Democrats added their names to Cicilline’s Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 in the immediate aftermath of the back-to-back massacres in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, that left a combined 32 dead and dozens more injured. Two more got on board on Tuesday: Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), the brother of Democratic presidential hopeful Julián Castro, and Rep. Cindy Axne (D-Iowa), who unseated GOP Rep. David Young last fall.

honestly, i'm a little worried about this.

Call, email or write to the White House, every single day. That's what every gun owner in this country should start doing. That's what I intend to do starting Monday morning... because I'm worried about this, too. And I don't need to wait for one of the 2A orgs to direct me to do the obvious... it's clearly time to make our voices heard.

Write a letter to the President

Here are a few simple things you can do to make sure your message gets to the White House as quickly as possible.

  • If possible, email us! This is the fastest way to get your message to President Trump.
  • If you write a letter, please consider typing it on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper. If you hand-write your letter, please consider using pen and writing as neatly as possible.
  • Please include your return address on your letter as well as your envelope. If you have an email address, please consider including that as well.
  • And finally, be sure to include the full address of the White House to make sure your message gets to us as quickly and directly as possible:

Here are two articles today on Trump's 'commitment' to the 2nd Amendment.

The first from National Review, and the second from Ammoland.

The NR article cautions him against following in the footsteps of  G. H. W. Bush, along with a history lesson reminding us how far out of 2A bounds that 'Republican' went. And what it cost him.

Chris Smith (R-NJ) will vote with the dems. So will Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).  But I don’t think it will get past the senate.  Even if it did, it would not be a veto proof majority.  If Trump maintained the stiffness in his spine....which is no way a given....he could veto a ban with good political cover.  Plus...I think he knows that if he signs an assault weapon ban, he is gone in 2020.

Here's the link to the actual bill. They specifically spell out models. There is also a list of exempt rifles.

They also have semi auto pistols listed, take a close look at the qualifications/models for ban,

Yep, did you see this one too?

(D) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

“(i) A threaded barrel.

So, any pistol that you can order a threaded barrel for, is also banned.

And this,

The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:

“(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

“(i) A pistol grip.

So, that would be ANY semi-auto with a pistol grip, any caliber...

Haven’t read the proposed bill; will later today, but does the ban include existing weapons legally purchased?

Yes!  It bans almost every semi auto in existence!

I am not worried about it as long as Trump is in office. Also, it won't make it out of the Senate.

We have always had to be vigilant, but the buffer is eviscerating.  A couple of generations of "progressive" education and unbridled purposeful immigration to change our American identity and this is what it has come to.  Dependence on a tyrannical government is not a good thing and the deck is stacked as the government is stacked with traitors of the people.   A major disruption in our daily lives could come easily and leave a vacuum for the  organized and funded statists to march on.

Even If the POTUS and the SCOTUS can slow it down, there  is still an inevitability of the coming future that will be written as Trump won't be there forever, just as the opportunist Christy has left and the collectivist statists have taken over.

Coming from this corrupt shithole of undemocracy (NJ)  we are lacking a perspective of other areas of our nation that are at least a generation behind with the ramblings of unconstitutional gun control and their agenda to create a terrain in which the people CANNOT stand up for their freedom and to the aggressive and coordinate  designs, propaganda, and machinations of those that would chose to rule without checks and balances.

Under the current trajectory one of two things will happen, either a civil war OR a neutered  and disarmed Slave State seems to be inevitable.   In either one, this nation and its people will suffer and a brilliant rendition of a people seeking to live as free as possible by limiting the power of the government will fade.

What amazes me is how people can blindly follow this ruling class and their media and the agenda being put on us without critical thinking and looking at the big picture and how slight changes have big affects in the future and what the decisions now hold for that future.

One by one, they roll over....

Rep. Pete King is the first Republican to sign on to the assault weapons ban

WASHINGTON — An assault weapons ban that Democratic leaders have been reluctant to advance despite strong support among their rank-and-file members in the House just got its first Republican backer — Long Island Rep. Pete King .

King had been the lead sponsor of a bill improving background checks when Republicans controlled the House and was already one of a handful of Republicans backing that bill now.

Some other Republicans who have not signed on but have expressed support for the ban include Florida Rep. Brian Mast, who came out in favor of a ban after the Parkland High School slaughter last year, and Ohio Rep. Mike Turner, who said he supports one after the massacre in his Dayton district.

The narrative has 100%changed......  if you are not paying attention....  over the past 4 years or so.....when in the past it was evil black looking guns...now it has migrated to include all semi autos....  clever...  shifting the narrative is what they do.

I do not make the next statements lightly....  but at some point you just have to say no, even if the law passes due to whatever corrupt influences take place.

The state of the union right now is just like nj under the christie admin..  false hope....  and look where we are now.

The same will happen nationally...they haven called for outright confiscation ....yet..

You need to prepare to resist in whatever manner is needed to preserve freedom in the republic..and that might mean laying down ur life...  are you prepared to do that?

If you are not turn em in now..  because that is where this is heading..there is no 'commonsense' ground...there is no negotiating with those that see you as a threat to their power and control.

There will eventually be a domestic war over this...many are going to die....but what is the cost of the price of freedom...?

Normal good honest hard working people will be labeled domestic terrorists by the propagandists...they will be hunted and it will get messy.  *YOU* - yes you, will be labeled targeted and be thrust into the mess, why cause you are a gun owner that didn't turn in your stuff...

Dont think for a minute that what you think is a paltry some of ammo and guns, is not an arsenal to the talking heads...remember an arsenal has been categorized as a kabar a shottie a 38 and 1k rounds...

They need YOU dead and gone like the old, so they can usher in their dystopian dreams...

What are you prepared to do?

Need to make an example of Rep Pete King.  Its just unfortunate that we aren’t voting for congress this fall. I’d rather not wait to see him lose to a dem.  Same for Chris Smith.  Who I expect will cave at some point.
