I wonder if he had time to think "Oh sh!t, maybe this wasn't my best move were" before the whole thought processes came to a halt.

I mean I have done some really stupid stuff, and usually my last thought as I do it is "I ma pretty sure that was a bad idea" but at that point it is too late. Luckilly the consequences have never been even close to this. So I wonder if there was time for the realization that he is an idiot to reach his consiousness

It would be hard to do that when those doing it would also need mental health checks and IQ checks. 

It is NOT popular here.  You don't give people permission to have guns.  You provide a framework that allows them to seek the proper due diligence and training on their own.  

When you look at the big picture, incidents like these are very rare.  One needs to look at the big picture before implementing more governmental edicts across the board and knee-jerk responses.   I believe that everyone utilizing a gun should get training, but I don't think it should be mandated.  There are plenty of responsible people with lower IQs, lack of training, mental issues, etc.  that own guns and have never been and never will be a danger to themselves or others.

I think a lot of times those stories come out like that to in some way help the survivors of someone that decided to commit suicide.
