Dick's Sporting Goods removes sporting rifles chain wide

Recommended Posts

(CNN) - Dick's Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, says it has removed all guns from its store nearest to Newtown, Connecticut, and is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its chains nationwide.

To me, this is far worse than gun related TV shows being cancelled. I've never bought a gun from Dick's and I most certainly will never buy one from them even if they reverse their decision.

Oh no! Where will I get shitty bolt action .22s and shot guns I don't want.

I guess i'll just go to an actual gun shop.

Prices are better at Bud's in Tennessee anyway but more items are out of stock.

I have to admit, this bothers me, but I did have a great experience with them during hurricane sandy. Obviously, driving to most shops was off limits, I was running out of gas fast, & was told by a close friend who is a cop that there were several break-ins and thefts right near my house. I headed to Dicks to buy a package of defense rounds and experienced no hassle whatsoever. He also informed me of the benefits of owning a 870 in these kinds of situations. As mentioned above, their 870 are being sold at great prices.

As for prices on other items, My Wife and I shop there frequently for gym/running gear and they are neck and neck with most other stores, including sports authority. Then again.. Who isn't overpriced these days?

"The retailer says the change comes out of respect for the victims and families of last week's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary."

This makes no sens to me. How does this action respect anyone?

Here is an idea for Dick's--suspend sales on everything, maybe that will help.

I used to like the big Dick's--like the one near Freehold mall, that one is huge. But I found them to be a bit overpriced on most items. And as I read about all the problems people have had, I start to avoid them. For outdoor equipment (not necessarilly firearms) I really like REI's flagship store in Seattle, but it is not real convenient to get there.

They will go the way of Sports Authority (after they stopped selling guns), which is now one of the lamest stores going. Good riddance.

Hated shopping there anyway. Always felt like I was in the movie "I am legend" looking for someone to help you at the gun counter.
