No Guns At Chipolte

Recommended Posts

Chipolte didn't ban guns.  They didn't put up signs saying firearms not allowed.

They issued a statement saying they would prefer their customers didn't bring them in, same as Starbucks did:

So what happens, then, when people "do not comply" and bring them in, anyway?   I'm pretty sure LE will be called.  Perhaps not "legally," but "effectively" the same thing as banning.  One way or another, you will be escorted out.  Whether or not you are escorted "elsewhere," thereafter, remains to be seen.

Oh, and for those of you saying you won't go there anymore, make sure you email them and tell them. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Use the online form to. Be sure to be nice, tell them you saw a pic of those idiots and it's a shame they got caught up in this. But you can't go to a place that bans guns.

Subject: With regards to the recent "incident" at your store in Texas...

Please accept the apologies of myself and every other law abiding (and not mentally incompetent) firearms owner across the country. As with any group there will always be a few ‘special’ people who need to be taken out back and have an old fashioned tarring and flogging applied to them. I wish we were allowed to do so but alas society has “progressed” to the point where that is no longer considered appropriate. Please know that I and others appreciate your restraint in not going overboard with new policies or restrictions in your establishments, and that I will continue to patron such.

Hadn't seen the pics.

100% correct Melg. These guys are asshats and should be chastised by the gun community.

As BLF said, OC'ing with a holstered pistol is one thing. These guys definitely hurt gun owners and gun rights advocates.

I don't like when private businesses ban carry, but in this case, it may be a little less egregious.

I wouldn't call what they're doing OC'ing either. They're not just wearing the rifle on their backs. They're almost brandishing. Huge difference. Would it be OC if they had a pistol in their hands instead of a holster?

I suspect in a couple weeks it'll all go back to normal really. The pistol OC and CC crowd that aren't being peaCOCKS about it will still be allowed entry. Any of the short but window lickers that bring rifles will probably be "escorted" out by a uniform with a badge.

This. IMHO, your hand(s) should never be touching your firearm unless you're planning on deploying it because Really Bad Things are happening. Otherwise it's DON'T TOUCH IT!

Yeah      as much as your heart may be in the right place, your letter does not fare much better for the community to a discerning eye . So maybe a re write might be wise?

Well I couldn't put what I really wanted to say...

Look... those two are window licking short bus helmet wearing douche canoes. If you see 'em again have 'em arrested and buried UNDER the jail. That would be fine with me.

If you got something better, write it and send it.

I read somewhere that, because this happened in Texas Chipotles HAD to say no open carry because in Texas it's illegal to take a long gun into a place that sells alcohol. The "Mothers" are claiming victory but the chain did it to be compliant with state law.

That said, these open carry clowns are making everyone look bad.

"Douche canoe" is now my favorite insult. Well done.

This is an example off why gun owners need to give more consideration to what and who they support.

If Brian Aiken didn't say something that worried his mother he wouldn't have gotten in trouble. If Pantaleon (sp?) left his hi cap magazines and AR in Pennsylvania he wouldn't have gotten in trouble. Yes, New Jersey gun laws are stupid, but getting yourself arrested is no way to change them.

Aiken beat the possession charge because he didn't get a fair trial. Pantaleon got off because of a bad search. So much for the Constitution being dead.

Apparently the open carry folks in Texas started this: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/chipotle-dont-bring-guns-stores-215921716--finance.html Obviously it's a moot point in this state, but now I can't patronize their stores. Hopefully they've got a sign that prohibits prayer before meals in their stores...

Bad analogy. If you wanted to pray at your table, I'm sure they wouldn't stop you. If you wanted to lead the entire restaurant in prayer they would be in their rights to stop you.

my emphasis added.

Thanks Digz. The news report I heard said "banned", then said "asked", which is why I worded it that way since it wasn't clear which the case was from that report.

Hopefully smarter people will represent us in the future so these things won't happen.

    • If you’re going to VA, buy 2 radios.  Program one for here and one for there.  If you guys are buying Baofeng radios do yourself a favor and get a tactical antenna for it,it’ll extend your reach.
    • Both our memories are a bit lacking. 3 bystanders were hit by NYPD bullets and 6 were hit by fragments at the Empire State Building shooting. The bullets later were determined to have passed through the bad guy as I said. He was not a big guy. The police fired 16 rds and 7 hit the bad guy.  Spray and pray?  I think not.  These officers fired until the threat was stopped and everyone is moving. Have you ever tried to hit a moving target whilst you're moving.  If you watch the video from where the police encounter him, the BG draws his gun from his bag, NYPD guys shoot, and the BG hit the ground is about 2 or 3 seconds.  The closest officer is maybe 12 feet or less.  The closest cover are those concrete flower pots.  If the officers chose to take cover before drawing the BG would have had a chance to shoot at least one officer. Know your target and beyond?  Agree 100%.  However, this by the Empire State Building at 9 am during the week.  There are bystanders and traffic in every direction.  The officers had a choice of doing what they did or letting the BG shoot them with his 1911 and shoot someone else. I think they made the right choice and the same one I would have made.  The officers exercised the best option in protecting themselves and the public. The first video is the police shooting.  The second is more detailed and gives you a lot of background information on the shooter. One thing this shows is if NYPD had to use fmj undoubtedly more bystanders would have been wounded perhaps killed.  NJ's hollowpoint law. only creates more danger to the public.
