Anyone know a good place to get gun safes in NJ?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a reasonable price locally on a Liberty Revolution 12 or maybe 18 or similar to put in a tight location so I can't get anything too big but I want to get as big as possible to fit in the spot I have picked out. I'd prefer to pick it up in NJ rather then having to drive out of state for it. Trying to keep the cost down and Cabelas charges $175 delivery because of the weight which is too much to spend on a 4-500 safe. if I can buy in NJ there's no sales tax on safes.

I am also thinking about the winchester 10 gun from Tractor Supply but it seems fairly cheaply made compared to the Liberty and the next size up they have is the 24 and it's too big for the location. The 10 gun would Probably stop a casual thief. Where I am putting it may help some because there won't be much space for a bad guy to get leverage to try and open it or move it and it will be bolted into concrete on the floor and wall studs on the back or side but I'd still like to go as sturdy as possible in a smaller size.

Any suggestions of where to find a safe in NJ to meet my needs?

Thanks

-Jim

As mentioned above, Tractor & Supply has the Winchester safes in stock

as well as Cannon brand. The Winchester isn't too shabby for a lower priced

safe, and should do you well in terms of security.

Liberty has a Master (Stocking) dealer in mt/ laurel, NJ (856-222-9904) and they

warehouse at two locations Sportsman's Center on Rt. 130 in Robbinsville & a

warehouse in eastern PA i believe)

As another option - there are always good deals on smaller safes on both Craigslist &

Ebay (Search Gun Safes and sort - Nearest first) because people are always moving

up in size, so you could get a nice deal if you search, especially around the holidays.

Good luck!

If you don't need one prior to year's end, I'd wait for the Raritan Center Outdoor Expo Show in January.  There's always a safe dealer there.  They don't want to take them back to storage.  They're "priced to MOVE" and are sold right off the Show floor.  Best deals around!  My brother and others personally known to me have benefited from doing this!  Save hundreds off every size and model!  Bring a pick-up, a coupla friends and a dolly to get it home.  Throw a Pizza and Beer party after the install.......

Agree about Dicks.  For mid-level safe, which as long as it's in a secure place should be ok, Dicks has a decent selection and good prices.  Black Friday should be a prime time for a good deal.  Or go to Cabellas in PA: http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/gun-safes/_/N-1100213/Ns-CATEGORY_SEQ_104369580?WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104730480

I got a Cannon Wide Body 48 from Tractor Supply and a Field and Stream 16 from Dicks,

Both have their pro and cons.

Just remember to buy bigger than you think you need, cause they def don't hold suggested capacities.

Both places will have sales for BF

This thread got me thinking about the various quality levels of safes. Here's a site I haven't gotten all the way through yet, but he really sounds like he knows his stuff. A lot of real world info and pointers.

    • Looking to pick up a Kriss vector  in 9mm.  Let me know what you got.   Thanks Chris
    • If you’re going to VA, buy 2 radios.  Program one for here and one for there.  If you guys are buying Baofeng radios do yourself a favor and get a tactical antenna for it,it’ll extend your reach.
    • Both our memories are a bit lacking. 3 bystanders were hit by NYPD bullets and 6 were hit by fragments at the Empire State Building shooting. The bullets later were determined to have passed through the bad guy as I said. He was not a big guy. The police fired 16 rds and 7 hit the bad guy.  Spray and pray?  I think not.  These officers fired until the threat was stopped and everyone is moving. Have you ever tried to hit a moving target whilst you're moving.  If you watch the video from where the police encounter him, the BG draws his gun from his bag, NYPD guys shoot, and the BG hit the ground is about 2 or 3 seconds.  The closest officer is maybe 12 feet or less.  The closest cover are those concrete flower pots.  If the officers chose to take cover before drawing the BG would have had a chance to shoot at least one officer. Know your target and beyond?  Agree 100%.  However, this by the Empire State Building at 9 am during the week.  There are bystanders and traffic in every direction.  The officers had a choice of doing what they did or letting the BG shoot them with his 1911 and shoot someone else. I think they made the right choice and the same one I would have made.  The officers exercised the best option in protecting themselves and the public. The first video is the police shooting.  The second is more detailed and gives you a lot of background information on the shooter. One thing this shows is if NYPD had to use fmj undoubtedly more bystanders would have been wounded perhaps killed.  NJ's hollowpoint law. only creates more danger to the public.
