Do not buy from Palmetto

Recommended Posts

The issue with PSA is when you order ammo. Most of my past orders from them were for rifle ammo and every time I had to call them after waiting 2 weeks for it to ship to remind them no FID card is needed for rifle ammo. Surprisingly, the very next day I get shipping notification. They do have very good deals, but like others have said don't expect fast shipping from them if you need it right away.

I've ordered a ton of stuff from PSA and never really had any issues.

I jumped on their Black Friday deal for the VP9. It was a bit slow to ship but it went out, I wasn't worried because I didn't have any P2P anyway and was waiting on approval. When I finally went to pick up my pistol, turned out they had sent mine to some Asian guy in Ohio and his to me. Was kind of funny when my gun arrives with some Asian guys name on it. Oh well, either way, we both got our guns so no harm.

Here was my experience for a first time order of 9mm and .45 ammo on March 7:

  • Immediately received an order confirmation email (9:05 am)
  • Immediately responded to the confirmation email with a scanned copy of my FID
  • 5 hours later (2:24 pm) received a response from "Jason A, Customer Service Approval Desk" that confirmed receipt of my FID
  • Received confirmation 6 hours later (8:21 pm) that my order had shipped, including UPS tracking numbers

I'll pile on my support.

I'm in their system and have ordered handgun ammo before. I must be marked as "FID on file".

I jumped on the Federal deal for 9mm on Tuesday with free shipping. UPS shows it arriving tomorrow. After rebate, I'll have 1,000 rounds of brass cased 115gr for $159.

+1 for PSA from me

I've been on hold waiting for Palmetto to pick up for 10mins now so I can check an order I put in 9 days ago. I'd like to get my stuff before that scumbag Murphy bans everything. I'm gonna stay on hold to see if anyone ever picks up. I've got it on speakerphone.

------

OK, 25 minutes for Tameka (sp?) to pick up and tell me they're heavily behind due to Christmas sales, which I can understand, but 25 minutes on hold for customer service is shameful. I expect current orders to be shipped a helluvalot quicker than 10 days. Wow.

I've had this issue a dew times when ordering ammo from them.  Everything else (BCG, trigger kits etc) come flawlessly.  As soon as I email them about the ammo - they have my info - the shipment email comes the next day.  They've said they have my account marked as ID verified, but I haven't ordered from them anymore because of the hassle.

I order from Midway now.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
