I can't really comment too much on this due to the nature of my position, but I think NJ residents should be aware of how the new Bail Reform thing is working out. I wish I could find the old post here by the guy who called his local town to see if there was a local ordinance preventing him from building a shooting range in his back yard. There wasn't...until they received his phone call and decided to pass one. Lets' stop badgering the new anti-gun PA AG who already made a campaign promise to cancel these reciprocity agreements. I want him to forget about us.

From Asbury, I think you're roughly: 5-10 min to the Clinton WMA, Clinton via 78 (off 173) - state run, outdoor only, must have NJ hunting license, only good for certain firearms --- ummm, essentially "free" I think with the hunting license? (Others will correct me if I'm wrong) 20 min to Phillipsburg Pistol & Rifle via 22W - small, private, not fancy but affordable 20 min via 78W to Heritage Guild, Easton - large, commercial, pricey 25 min via 78E to 31S to Tactical Training Center, Flemington - large, commercial, pricey And I can't recall the name, but there's some trapshooting club in Bethlehem Township, south of 78 at exit 7, maybe 10 min from you... "Farmer's something or another?" I believe it's open to the public. There's also several other places a bit deeper into PA like Easton Fish and Game Association, which I hear is very affordable... Ontelaunee, also very affordable... I'm sure there's others I don't even know about or aren't thinking of at the moment. Lots of options... especially compared to other parts of the state.

The last time the Navy got the Iowas out of mothballs during the Reagan 80's they had to find a Firing Officer to command the 3 gun turrets, so they made use of a little known clause in fine print on discharge papers and got a 50+ year old guy pressed into service (conscripted) so he could train his replacement! Those 16" .50 caliber rifles can fire a 2,800 pound HE shell almost 30 miles. By varying the amount of powder bags and rifle angle, three salvos could be fired at a target in such a way as to have 27 shells all land in approx. a football field AT THE SAME TIME!

So the question and interpretive statement were worded in such a way as to conceal the true nature of the measure? Made it sound like a good thing: "yeah we can deny bail to someone really dangerous!" when in reality it meant "well in all but the most severe cases we're just going to let everyone walk free".

Keep in mind, the general liquidition plan is.... first raise the prices some and offer a small discount. (while it is still news and people come in looking for a deal). Once the big discounts come.... they come quick and sharp to get rid of inventory before final days.... so if they are 40% off now, would go now while there is still good stuff to be had.
  13. 1 point
Sure can! just have to keep it on a leash. Just don't bring your .410 handgun and shoot it again (like you did last time you came) if your planning on being my guest!

unbelieveable. This state SUCKS on so many levels!
  15. 1 point
Yeah give Josh Shapiro's office a call and ask if you are covered by exploiting a loophole in his state's reciprocity laws and then when they change the reciprocity agreement with NH to honor only state resident permits come back here and bitch about how shitty PA is. Don't forget to also ask about Texas while you are at it.

I thought I was clear in my post above about why we don't contact certain people and ask certain questions. Example: Target has a $2,000.00 laptop on clearance for $1.00. A store shows 1 in stock, you call the store and ask the clerk to make sure the price is good and they have it.........You just lost it since you brought the mistake to their attention! Same effing thing here......... You have something good, then you bring it to the attention of someone who has the ability to take it away you just lost it! Eventually. you learn to keep your mouth shut!

Checked with my Trooper friend. He didn't know the brands (thanks HE) but said they were having failures to extract with service and practice ammo. Practice ammo is brass case. He never had any problems with his issue gun but said there was a lot of failures to extract on the range with other guns. He's been issued a Glock 19. Runs fine with the same ammo. Everybody else's does too Sounds like a gun issue to me.

With all due respect sir. When people are not sure of thing or don't know something, they ask questions. That's the reason forums are formed. If you know the answers, help out. If you don't or don't have anything helpful to say towards the subject STFU ! I joined this forums to learn more about firearm and the laws but I think I'm gonna quit coming here because of smart asses like you !!!

That's right, the old extractor still has the issue. As far as ammo, AG policy states basically that training ammo has to be similar to duty ammo. We carry Fed 180gr HST. Our training ammo is Am Eagle 180 TMJ. When we carried Speer GD our training ammo was Speer Lawman FMJ. I know NBPD uses the same Duty and practice ammo that we do. I'm not sure exactly what NJSP uses for duty and training but I'm sure it's a similar pairing. Edit: NJSP duty ammo is Speer 124gr GDHP. Training ammo is Speer Lawman FMJ equivalent.

NO NO NO! The PA AG is a very busy man with his anti gun agenda.! PLEASE do not turn his attention this way! It would be very bad for us! Call Scott Bach at NJRPC, (Gun For Hire). He did a radio show on this subject. I carry in PA often with my NH non res CCW. You are fine.

I don't think so. The bad guy had already broken through one door. If the victim hadn't had his bedroom door locked no doubt the BG would have been on top of him before he could do anything. That locked bedroom door is the only reason the victim wasn't brutally beaten. The victim didnt know if it was one BG or several. He made his presence known to whoever broke down his front door. How did the intruder(s) respond? By starting to break down the bedroom door. That door was most likely not as durable as the entrance door. Shooting through a door is generally not a good idea. I can't say the guy was totally wrong here. The fact that one door was already broken down and the BG was in the process of breaking down an interior door has a lot of bearing here. Where was the teacher supposed to retreat to? He was on the 3rd floor. He was reasonably in fear of his life or serious bodily harm AFAIC. I can't see a prosecutor in NJ trying to pursue this.

The statutes themselves are a good source of information: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/CT/HTM/18/00.061.006.000..HTM 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license. (b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to: (15) Any person who possesses a valid and lawfully issued license or permit to carry a firearm which has been issued under the laws of another state, regardless of whether a reciprocity agreement exists between the Commonwealth and the state under section 6109(k), provided: ........ http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/CT/HTM/18/00.061.009.000..HTM 6109. Licenses. (k) Reciprocity.-- (1) The Attorney General shall have the power and duty to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states providing for the mutual recognition of a license to carry a firearm issued by the Commonwealth and a license or permit to carry a firearm issued by the other state. To carry out this duty, the Attorney General is authorized to negotiate reciprocity agreements and grant recognition of a license or permit to carry a firearm issued by another state. (2) The Attorney General shall report to the General Assembly within 180 days of the effective date of this paragraph and annually thereafter concerning the agreements which have been consummated under this subsection. https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/Media_and_Resources/Firearm_Reciprocity_Agreements/ Firearm Reciprocity Agreements In 1995, the Pennsylvania General Assembly gave the Attorney General the authority to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania currently has formal written reciprocity agreements with 18 states that recognize a valid license to carry firearms issued by Pennsylvania. Conversely, Pennsylvania recognizes valid firearm carry licenses/permits from those states. In addition to the 18 formal agreements, other forms of reciprocity are applicable. Categories of Firearms Reciprocity Under Pennsylvania law, there are six categories of firearms reciprocity status. Category 1: States that have entered into written reciprocity agreements with Pennsylvania. (Title 18 Pa.C.S.A. § 6109(k)) The following states have entered into formal written reciprocity agreements with Pennsylvania under section 6109(k) of the Uniform Firearms Act. These agreements provide for reciprocal recognition of valid licenses/permits issued by both states. A list of these states and links to their firearms laws is provided below, along with the text of the agreements: New Hampshire Read the Pennsylvania Firearm Reciprocity Agreement with New Hampshire https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/uploadedFiles/MainSite/Content/Criminal/FirearmsReciprocity/Signed_NH_Agreement.pdf 1. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will recognize valid New Hampshire permits to carry concealed firearms by valid permit holders while said permit holders are present in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Nowhere does the agreement say that you have to be a resident of NH.

Don't use polymer tips for precision loads. Use 75 grain SMK heck I've even had good result Prvi 75 BTHP. I've tried all the out of an 18" Rainier arms match .223 wylde and the non polymer tipped bullets performed best. I've been using 40 grain Amax bullets in 5.7x28 and I find them to not hold the best accuracy in that platform either.

Lots to talk about lol but I"ll stick to one issue. If you work outside use sunscreen protection! I was mostly outside for 35 yrs and contrary to youthful exuberence we are not invincible. I thought I was but have recently, past 5 yrs or so, been routinely cut up, sliced, burned, frozen.....currently have a dozen stitches in my neck, again...melanoma, basil/ squamus cell, AK, have and had all. All on neck and face. Fortunatly I never worked with my shirt off so not by design I'm good there. Keep some sunscreen in your truck, car even your toolbox lol, and use it. It can take many yrs for skin cancer to develop, that peeling burn you got last July can come back to haunt you 10-30 yrs later. Next, blood pressure. Watch and maintain, get meds if needed, they changed my life no more chronic headaches. Thats all for today.

It's highly personal, do you currently have anything that will work? I started running what I had, which was a 14.5" middy build with an aimpoint. I shot matches up to 300 yards with it and didn't feel held back by it much at all. After a year was under my belt, I knew what I wanted and built something that suited my desires. I would just shoot what you have an keep your eyes and ears open at matches and then you can really feel what you want. Also what division do you want to shoot?

Im one of those with expensive 3gun rifles, and mostly it doesn't matter, specially in NJ and when you are starting out. Have a semi-auto rifle that will hold 2-3 MOA at 100 yards, preferably with a free floated handguard so when you rest it on things you don't shift to far off your zero. Everything else it is nice to have, but you will figure out what you want later as rifles tend to be a personal thing. If you want a scope pick up one of the cheaper 1-6 Vortex scopes. Comps are good to have, but people differ on what is good, a $40 Miculek comp will go a long way. Good triggers also matter but again .. a very personal choice, shoot whatever you have until you learn what you like.

NJ2AS was born here, outgrew the grassroots movement, and became a very strong advocate for our rights in NJ. There used to be a section for NJ2AS before they split off to it's own website, etc. CNJFO is here as well - they're fighting the good fight. ANJRPC - too big to come here and do they really fight for us? SAF - ?

Sorry, totally disagree. You have it exactly backwards. He is a businessman who happens to have taken it upon himself to advance the cause of 2A rights in NJ. He has done and is doing more than any other single person to advance 2A rights in this state, which should be appreciated. Have the owners of any other ranges done anywhere near as much? That's not a knock on them, as they aren't obligated to, but we should at least give credit where credit is due. The fact that he runs a range and training programs and has a popular podcast in no way obligates him to disclose private aspects of his own life, including his ability to get a permit. Plus, how would that knowledge help any of us? Do you think he has some secret formula that the rest of us could use if only he discloses it? If he got his permit through personal connections or influence, good for him. Why would he want to discuss it and jeapordize that. Sometimes the lack of appreciation by the armchair warriors on this forum is astounding -- from NJ2AS, to ANJRPC to GFH.
